The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 27
“Now that I think about it what was the name of that shady guy who came with us? Urek? Maybe Shrek I remember his name ended with a ‘k’ ” After arriving to the city the first thing that came to his mind was not to searching for Louis, but seeking that third chosen who came along with them to this place. Mars was completely sure he could crush that guy like bug. Since he said he would deal with him, he would deal with him!
Ena was currently holding a white little cat with silvery-blue stripes in her arms. This little cat was Persian. His normal size was as big as a tiger and he was a very powerful rank 4 demon beast. In order to attract less attention it had transformed into this miniature cat. Since Ena thought he looked quite cute in her cat form she held him in her arms since then.
“I think his name was Derek” It had been several months since they last met that shady guy and left the city. Ena was actually surprised Mars remembered him. She guessed it was because he felt angry about having someone stronger than him as an enemy that he decided to go pick on weaker enemies instead. Mars was sometimes very pety. She knew him very well.
“Right! His name was Derek! I wonder what he is doing now Teaching him a lesson might be harder than I thought Mainly because I don’t know where he is.” After thinking for a while, Mars didn’t know what to do or how to search for a person in such a big city.
Ena rolled her eyes and suddenly suggested with a smile. “I bet that guy doesn’t know you are super strong yet Why don’t you just wait for him to come to you instead? That way you are not only saving the effort of looking for him, if he really comes, you can give him a pleasant surprise as well…”
“Come to us? But we are wearing masks now?” Mars did not understand.
“Yes we are, but Louis is not.”
“Well…” Mars scratched his head for a bit, he was not quite satisfied with the plan. He was used to being the proactive party. He did not want to wait for trouble to come. He wanted to trouble the troublemaker by becoming the troublemaker before the troublemaker troubled him. Alright, that did not made any sense the point is that he did not want to wait!
“How about we go ahead an exchange our resources for Merit points? I remember we found very valuable things in the red lightning area. Although we had to drop some of the things we found before since we had no space, I’m sure we are striking rich this time!” Ena quickly changed the topic.
“Oh Alright, let’s go then! We gave 30% of our share to Louis, I wonder how many merit points he obtained!” Mars was already tired of sleeping in the hard floor. He couldn’t wait to get a place in the city.
“Sure!” Ena sweetly smiled and faint glint flashed across her eyes. She usually stuck close to Mars and was not planning on spending her days searching for some dude. So she quickly made a plan for Mars that would fit her liking and quickly changed the topic before Mars said anything else. ‘Victory!’
After an hour of traveling they found an exchange center. The building was three stories high. The outside walls possessed a warm cyan color while some painted golden leaves made the whole structure look incredibly luxurious. Once Mars and Ena entered this place they noticed the interior was decorated with a red capet and black inside walls with the same decoration of golden leaves.
Mars immediately noticed that these golden leaves were part of some kind of mechanism. These golden leaves were brimming with worldly energy. Mars guessed it must be some sort of security system. Whoever dared to cause trouble in this place wouldn’t have a good time
He noticed every building which belonged to Loftycloud or other islands would posses these golden patterns around their walls.
The room they were in was quite big and there were several receptionist attending people who came to exchange resources or information for merit points. However people still had to take a very long line to exchange merit points. Mars guessed he would have to wait in line for several hours before he had the chance to speak with a receptionist. Mars also saw noticed nobody was heading to the upper floors, he was curious but he wasn’t sure what was up there. He didn’t posses a lot of information regarding this place so he stopped a random dude who just entered the building and asked.
“Friend, what’s up there?” As Mars gave a low tier energy crystal to the guy and pointed his finger towards the stairs.
Seeing he was only given a single low tier energy crystal the man thought this guy was a poor rookie or a miser. However he still took the crystal and answered, it was only a simple question after all, “You shouldn’t bother kid. The second floor is for people who are exchanging for more than ten thousand merit points. The third floor is for those who are exchanging for more than a hundred thousand.” Then the man ignored Mars and joined the long line.
“Thanks friend!” Mars took Ena’s hand and proceded upwards.
The man who received the low tier energy crystal starred with wide eyes at Mars leisurely going up stairs. ‘So he is either a rookie who got super lucky and a huge miser! I can’t believe he just gave me a low tier energy crystal!’
Truth is He was right, Mars is totally a miser. He had been poor while young so he didn’t really like giving away his money. In fact he felt he made a loss when he gave Louis 30% of all his profits, he himself was the one who made most of the work after all! However he remembered it was Louis who had been making plans for them and taking decisions since the beginning so he reluctantly gave him 30% of all his profits.
Only a few people were in the second floor. Mars noticed all of them had older looks, he guessed none of these people could actually ascend the island anymore.
After arriving to the second floor Mars did not stop and headed towards the third floor. His actions quickly garnered the attention of everyone in the second floor. Each person here memorized his face and then pretended to ignored him. Who knew what these guys were planning.
Mars noticed the third floor was not like the two floors below. In fact, it looked like a luxurious living room. Soon an elegant pretty maid showed up and gracefully walked towards them.
“Sir, lady, please remember you need to own a hundred thousand deal at the very least to be here. For your own safety I recommend going to the second floor if you don’t.” Seeing the youths remain here the maid proceed talking, “Please sit comfortably in the couch. Soon the boss will come to attend you.” Then the maid left.
“That maid was quite pretty” Mars said but suddenly felt a fierce pinch on his waist.
“What did you say?” Ena face darkened and twisted her hand harder. She might not mind sharing Mars with her sister, but she would never share with him with anyone else. Mars was the most handsome man she knew. She guessed there was no other guy better looking than him. If he really tried, girls might fall like pancakes before him.
“Ah! You didn’t let me finish I meant she was pretty bland and can’t compare to your brightness!” Mars lips twitched and responded while rolling his eyes.
“That’s more like it! Humph!” Although she still sounded displeased, she had a small smile on her face.
Soon woman entered the room. Although she already had a few wrinkles and her hair was white, she looked as if she was a great beauty in her prime.
“My guest, may I know what is it that you desire to exchange?” Her voice was soft and she didn’t sound like an old person at all. Mars guessed this person was already several hundred years old but still had quite a few years remaining.
Mars and Ena looked at each other and passed a spacial bag towards the woman. The woman gave the bag a look and saw countless valuable lightning type plants. Plants had countless uses; they could be turned into medicine, potions, ingredients for formations or seals, or to nourish the body.
Lightning type plants were always in high demand since they were once of the ingredients for making infusion crystals. (Mars was given several infusion crystals in chapter 8)
After making quick calculations the woman spoke again. “There a few hundred of lightning type plants here I can give you 78,000 merit points in exchange. This isn’t all you have is it?”
Mars smiled and pulled 12 more bags and placed them on the table.
The woman was startled and slowly checked another bag, this one was filled with gems stones. She guessed of this bag was almost double the bag with plants. Then she opened another bag which was filled with precious ores.
After several minutes she finished looking at all the bags and was very surprised. She looked at Mars who looked just like 16 or 17 year old kid. ‘He must have gotten very lucky in the Lightning Valley’
“I can offer you 1,700,000 merit points.”
Mars was startled by the amount. Not because it was a lot but because he actually thought what he brought was more than enough to get enough merit points for him and Ena to ascend He was quite displeased with the exchange rates. Although he didn’t exchange the bags which possessed energy crystals because him and Ena needed them to train he pretty much exchanged everything else.
“2,000,000!” Mars retorted a bit displeased.
“I’m not negotiating. I can only give 1,700,000 merit points.” The woman looked like she didn’t care if Mars took the deal or not.
“1,950,000!” Mars noticed her expression and guessed she wouldn’t change her offer however he still tried to negotiate.
“1,700,000!” The woman retorted
“1,950,000!”
“1,700,000!”
“1,900,000!”
“1,500,000!” The woman was starting to get annoyed so she lowered her offer.
“Ah relax! Fine I take the 1,700,00!” Mars inwardly cursed that the buyer always had the advantage during a deal.
“Good! Give me your token” The woman chuckled and gave Mars a black card.
Mars lips eyelids twitched a bit when he saw the women chuckle. He was convinced this old granny bought his items for a low price. However he wasn’t quite sure either because he wasn’t very familiar with currency within this city.
In the end mars took his and Ena’s token and gave them to the woman. “Please place 1,000,000 on her token and the other 700,000 on mine.”
“Maars you shouldn’t be giving me more the merit points were obtained solely because of you” Ena immediately protested.
Mars shook his head and said, “Ena, we can always go search for more treasures, the distribution is not too important. We’ll ascend at the same time anyways.”
“Then fine”
“Please proceed Elder”
.
After Ena and Mars left the woman was lost in thought for a while. “They are not rank 4 yet, I can guess that much… How did the get so many resources? They look very young as well If I’m not mistaken that girl was holding a lightning lynx… If it can change shape, it most be rank 4 at the very least… How did they tame it?”
Sorry! It’s slightly late! In my defense this chapter is 500 words longer than usual.
