The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 32
Eanred realized this was Mars way of refusing his assistance. Since Mars had the alliance from the Lynxes he would be far safer with them than with himself.
Eanred talked with them for a few minutes before leaving.
“So when are we going?” Ena asked.
“It’s already late today, we’ll gather food supplies tomorrow and then set out the day after.” Mars said. He then turned to look at Ena with a smile, “Ena, I have some good news as well. Wanna guess what the good news are?”
“Good news? Is it related to the Ascending Devils Faction?”
“A little bit!”
“Then… did they decide to finally stop searching for us?”
“Nope”
“Then what?” Ena did not know what else could be considered good news in this situation.
“Remember that I suspected that it was that shady guy who came with us the one who sold the information about us and Louis to the Ascending Devils?” Mars responded.
Ena was surprised and asked again, “Don’t tell me you found him? Did you”
Mars nodded his head and started narrating, “Well, a few days ago I went outside the city with Persian to hunt for some demon beasts. However when I was close to the city gate I saw a guy who escaped one of my ambushes sneaking out from the city.”
“I thought it was suspicious so I stealthily followed him. In the end, I found a complete squad belonging to the Ascending Devils faction preparing to set out and complete a big quest. In the last few weeks it has gotten very difficult to attack more squads since they were often filled with rank four experts, however this time, after a careful assessment I discovered that there were just a few rank 4 experts within the squad. However that’s not too important, what its important is that I found that shady guy. Although it was quite a pain to get him since there were four rank 4s in the squad, I still got him in the end.”
“Mars that’s great! That person was going to be a future threat to the kingdom. Father would be delighted if he heard this!” Ena was very happy at first however after she mentioned her father, her lively expression dimmed down considerably.
Apparently the long separation with her family was not easy to bear for her. She had alway been with her father and siblings since she was had memory. To be suddenly separated from them for so long was not easy for her.
Mars immediately noticed her sad expression and consoled her while giving her a hug, “Ena although your siblings and father are not here with you, I am. In the future I’m going to marry you, so you can consider me as family, alright?”
Ena blushed a bit when she heard Mars words and tightly hugged his neck.
Days went by quickly. After finishing preparations Mars and Ena quietly left the city and headed towards the Lightning Valley once again.
Just a few hours after they left Eanred reached the city gates.
‘It seems they already left However there are some new changes that occured in the Lightning Valley. I must go and find them before anything happens to them!’ Eanred quickly made some calculations in his mind and dashed outside the city. His direction, the Lightning Valley.
…
As Mars and Ena both walked through an open field they talked and joked with each other. This field was filled with green and flowers. It was a beautiful open space which separated the forest which surrounded the city and the forest which surrounded the Lightning Valley.
“Maaars tell me something alright?” Ena suddenly said with her lively voice.
“Um? What?” Mars said while he petted the miniature Persian whom he held in his arms. Ena had tried holding him before however the lynx would just hiss at her which made her feel sad and disappointed.
“When… do you think we’ll be able to go back to the kingdom?” She was slightly hesitant at first however she still asked the question.
“Go back?” With a thoughtful expression Mars soon responded, “It’s been almost a year since we left We haven’t even become official members from any of the palaces yet, so I guess it will quite a few years before we have the chance to return. Keep in mind that our kingdom and this place are incredibly far away. That elder who brought us here possessed very powerful flying demon beasts but we still took a long time to get here. Who knows when we will able to obtain some flying beasts of our own?”
Mars saw the Ena’s expression quickly dimming so he quickly added, “I promise that in less than 4, no I mean 5! Yes, in less than 5 years, I will find a way for us to go back to the kingdom. At that point I will also take your sister back with us!”
“5 years” Ena thought for a bit and nodded. However she quickly frowned once again, “Mars, what if Aila gets married before you return?”
“Marry before I return? Is not possible anymore.” Mars quickly shook his head denying that possibility.
“Not possible? What do you mean?” Ena did not understand what Mars meant by that.
“Well you know she and I already”
“Already what?” This time she quietly clenched her little fists.
“This” Mars suddenly felt the weather turned hot all of the sudden and started sweating a bit.
“What?!”
“Well, you could say she is already my wife…”
“You mean you… and her… already when?” Ena’s breathing hastened.
Just as Mars was figuring out how to talk about this awkward topic a sudden explosion came from the forest ahead of them. As they turned their attention to this occurrence, several figures quickly dashed away from the woods, into the open field.
This group consisted of seven people and they had blood all over their bodies, their armor and equipment was in a terrible shape as well. It was obvious they had just been in a deadly battle. The people in this group all had panic stricken faces however when they saw Mars in the distance their expression lit up and they started dashing towards him and Ena.
Currently all these people were injured and their power fluctuations were all over the place. Mars could instantly tell that there were three rank 4 experts within this group. Probably with a power level over 3000. They were injured though, Mars guessed they wouldn’t be his match even if he did not uses the overcharge state.
Mars just gazed at this people coldly. If they dared to make a move on him he would immediately exterminate them. He had Persian with him anyways, he was far stronger than all of them and could exterminate everyone here with ease. So he just pushed Ena behind him with his arm in order to protect her in case anything unexpected happened.
A few seconds later a far bigger group dashed out from the woods. They seemed to be in pursuit of the first group.
The power fluctuations from this group were not as strong however they had ten rank 4 experts. Mars guessed they all had a power level around 2000 and 2500. Their injuries looked just as bad as the ones on the first group. They were obviously tired but their eyes shined with greed when they looked at the first group.
“Darn it! These fuckers are sure persistent!” A brown haired young woman who was leading the first group cursed out loud. She turned her gaze at Mars and when she saw he was unperturbed by the turn of events a hopeful gleam flashed before her eyes, “Friend, we currently carry a treasure with us, if you help us deal with our pursuers we will share half the treasure with you!”
“Brittany!” A young man at her side shouted in anger.
“Shut it! Can’t you read the situation you moron!” The brown haired woman yelled back in anger. However her gaze turned friendlier when she gazed at Mars. ‘These guys are obviously heading towards the Lightning Valley, since they are traveling with just the two of them, they must be powerful experts! Hopefully they will not turn hostile against us’
She was betting her and the life from her squad right now. If this expert before her suddenly decided to attack her, she would definitely be doomed. However she was running low on energy so she had no choice either. If her pursuers caught up and a fight broke out they would be quickly exterminated.
Soon the group arrived and stopped before Mars.
Mars gazed at them and raised his eyebrow. He was casually petting Persian in his arms. His casual appearance added to his look of absolute expert.
The squad and the brown haired girl looked hopeful, yet their anxiety increased by the second. “Friend, your answer!”
Unfortunately for them Mars did not say anything. He wasn’t too interested in whatever treasure these people had. He did not know if these people were good or bad either. Why would he bother helping them?
“Brittany let’s go! It doesn’t look like he is going to help!”
However in this short moment the second group quickly caught up with them.
“Screw this! They are here already!”
“Give it up now! How dare you take all the Turinium!” A middle aged man immediately yelled and signaled his people to prepare for battle.
“Take it all? We wouldn’t have done that if you hadn’t betrayed us!” The brown haired woman yelled back. They had been traveling along the group in front of them for a long time in the Lightning Valley, however once they found Turinium, they were suddenly betrayed and many members from her squad were killed!
Mars who was thinking whether he should help them or not was startled when heard the the word Turinium. This was an extremely precious metal used to craft high level equipment.
Back in the Kingdom of Lugasta he had heard there were just a couple of weapons made from this precious metal in the whole kingdom! Only the king and a couple of high ranking experts had the privilege to carry weapons made from Turinium!
“Fine I’ll help you out! However you must give half of all your Turinium!”
When Brittany heard Mars agreement she sighed in relief. Her bet had paid off. This guy was going to help them.
I believe this is actually the first week we have gotten more than twenty power stones!
I sincerely appreciate all your support.
