The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 36
“Eanred?” Mars was startled when he saw Eanred in this place. ‘Didn’t he said he was ascending? Why is here all of the sudden?’
“My friend! It’s good I managed to caught up with you! Discovering your traces was difficult you know!” Eanred said while he took a few gasps of air. He had been searching for Mars for quite awhile. Luckily he managed to find him before he entered the Lightning Valley.
“Yeah, good to see you and all, but why are you here? You told me you were ascending remember? Don’t tell me something happened?” Mars was very curious.
“Well, you don’t know about this but, just after you left I got news saying that most of the top experts belonging to the Bluecloud faction had been exterminated!”
“Exterminated?” Mars was startled by these news. The Bluecloud faction was actually the top faction within the city.
“Yeah that’s right. Apparently they came to the Lightning Valley with their strongest members for an expedition. Their expedition party consisted a hundred rank 3 experts, sixty rank 4 experts, and three rank 5 experts including their faction leader. However in the end only one person managed to return alive. The survivor said that everyone else had been killed! He only survived because he was a lightning user and some incredible luck. However after losing so many experts the Blueclouds faction is completely finished!” Eanred said this and then took a deep breath.
The faction leader from the Bluecloud faction was a rank 5 expert with a power level above 30,000! If he along two other rank 5 experts and tens of other rank 4 experts died what kind of force did they encounter in the valley?
They were people belonging to the strongest faction within ascension city! They did not only possess strength but they were very experience as well. They would never be careless when exploring the Lightning Valley, if they all died something unexpected probably happened to them.
“As you can guess, the expedition group must have encountered an unexpected situation in order for all of them to be exterminated. The survivor said that not long after they had entered the Lightning Valley they suddenly encountered a wave of Lightning elementals. He estimated there were a few hundred lightning elementals within this wave. The moment they were noticed they immediately tried to escape. In the end only him managed to escape alive to tell the tale” Eanred said with a serious expression.
“Mars, Lightning Elementals only appear in the deeper areas from the valley. However the Bluecloud faction encountered them not long after they entered. The Lightning Valley must have experienced another change. I recommend you to avoid entering the valley for now, at least, you shouldn’t enter before you get more information regarding what exactly is going on inside.”
Mars was shocked that the Bluecloud faction had been exterminated and the news about the elementals running wild also surprised him. Then he thought about the piece of Turinium which Brittany’s squad had found and thought there might be a connection between these events.
He knew something must have happened in the Lightning Valley that caused these changes. Whatever it was, he still had the intentions of going inside the valley. He had absorbed some red lightning to form his overcharge gem so he had some red lightning aura with him. Even if the elementals saw him, they wouldn’t attack him nor anyone close to him.
“Eanred, I just met a group which exited the Lightning Valley not too long ago. Maybe the Bluecloud faction was unlucky.” Mars said with a smile.
Seeing Mars smile Eanred realized Mars was still planning to enter the valley. He knew he was planning to ignore the danger within the valley despite his warnings.
“Mars, listen to me for a second.” Eanred took a few steps and blocked Mars’ path, then he continued talking, “Who knows what new changes has the Lightning Valley experienced recently. Lightning Elementals might not be the only dangers there! Not to mention a single Lightning elemental is more than enough to kill you several times over! You should not go! What’s the point of risking your life like this?” Eanred said all of this in good will. He considered Mars as one of his friends, not to mention Mars had helped him a while ago.
“Where there is risk there is reward” However Mars just rolled his eyes. He was confident in his own abilities. Throughout all his life he had never encountered a situation he couldn’t handle so he did not worry too much about Eanred’s warning.
“Reward my ass! Where there is risk there is also death!” Eanred snorted and he pointed at Ena, “You might not be worried about your life, but what about Ena? Are you going to place her in danger just because you are looking for opportunities? Don’t you think that’s too selfish of you?”
“What do you know?! If we find opportunities together our future will be brighter! We might be risking our lives today, but it will thanks to those risks that we might be able to deal with greater dangers in the future!” Mars frowned when he heard Eanred suddenly change his tone as he questioned his decisions.
He also wanted to look for more Turinium and make a new sword. He wouldn’t give up just because there were a few dangers ahead. When others stepped back he liked stepping forward. That was him! Others might say he was being arrogant and conceited. Mars would say it was confidence.
Thinking his decision was right he grabbed Ena’s hand and quickly walked past by Eanred. Completely ignoring his advice.
‘Darn it! To think he would be so stubborn!’ Eanred took another step and quickly appeared before Mars once again with a serious expression.
“Opportunities? Mars, you are a talented genius! I don’t think it will be long before you ascend to one of the floating islands. Whatever opportunity you think is worth risking your life right now, will be nothing but a joke when you reach the island later!” Eanred was surprised by Mars choice of ignoring his advice. In his mind Mars was usually calm and reasonable.
Mars just rolled his eyes. Although he knew Eanred had good intentions, he also thought he was being underestimated which annoyed him quite a bit. Shaking his head Mars said, “Eanred, don’t worry alright? Those Elementals don’t pose a threat to me or Ena. I assure you they will not even consider me their enemy even if they see me. Last time when we were in the Lightning Valley, after we both decided to separate, me and Ena went deep within the valley and entered the red lightning area.
“We even fought an Elemental! But here we are completely fine! Furthermore after we entered the red lightning area we also obtained some of the red lightning aura. Since we have an aura similar to those Lightning Elementals, they will not attack us or anyone around us. That’s not all, I can also forcefully suppress the power level of other lightning creatures when they are close to me. Even though it’s dangerous for others, it will not be dangerous to me!” Since Eanred was trying to be such a good guy, Mars decided to explain some things to him. This way he wouldn’t have to worry so much.
“Red lightning area… Fighting an elemental and getting away… Suppressing all other lightning creatures You can do that?” Eanred was surprised by what he just heard. However he was still skeptical. He knew Mars was a unique and special individual with a couple of secrets, so he guessed Mars might not be lying about this.
“Of course! And I have Persian with me as well, you should know how strong he is, right? So, both me and Ena are completely safe” Mars just waved his hand this time.
Eanred frowned for a second. He still thought Mars wasn’t taking the situation seriously. “Alright you can go if you want, however I’m coming with you. You said your aura could even protect those around you from the elementals, right? So I’m coming with you. But if we encounter a situation which seems odd or far too dangerous then promise me that we will immediately return. Remember you have Ena going with you! You can’t just drag her into dangerous situations all the time.”
“Brother Eanred, I’m willingly coming along with Mars, he isn’t dragging me along.” This time Ena broke her silence. She looked calm and collected but she was inwardly worried about what Eanred just said a few moments ago.
Mars also thought about what Eanred said and agreed somewhat unwillingly. ‘It’s no good to reject good will. He means good, so I guess it’s fine if wants to come.’
“Fine, I promise. You can come along and I assure you that even if we face ten thousand elementals my aura will keep us safe.” After hesitating for awhile Mars finally promised while shaking his head.
“Good!” Sighing in his heart Eanred thought Mars was more stubborn than he initially thought. At least he compromised a little bit. He did not want to see a friend of his die for some stupid reason.
“Alright, let’s get going. We are only a few hours away from the Valley”
