The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 37
Even while they were a few tens of kilometers away from the Lightning Valley they could already see the dark clouds covering the horizon. No matter how many times someone returned to this place, they would feel still feel oppressed.
“You know, I had a fight a few hours ago. I helped a squad which was getting pursued because they had found a piece of Turinium. I even got a small piece as reward.” Mars casually said to Eanred.
“Turinium?! You actually got Turinium!” Eanred was startled when he heard what Mars said just now. He made some quick calculations and guessed the Turinium was one of the reasons why Mars wanted to go to the Lightning Valley.
Mars did not reveal this information lightly. Since Eanred had come all this way to warn him about the new dangers the Lightning Valley might posses, Mars was sure that Eanred wouldn’t try to take what was his.
“Do you know anyone who is a good and reliable blacksmith? My sword just broke and I actually need a new one. Since I have Turinium, I need a good and reliable blacksmith to forge me a good sword” Mars finally asked about what he wanted to know.
“Blacksmith?” Eanred thought for a moment before answering, “If it’s just a normal blacksmith then I know quite a few. However Turinium is quite a valuable material so you will want to have an elemental weapon to be forged with this material. If you want an elemental weapon which matches your path, then currently there aren’t any blacksmiths who can forge this kind of weapon within the city. The last one ascended to the floating islands two years ago.”
“Elemental weapon? What is an Elemental weapon?” This was actually the first time Mars had heard about this term.
“Well, it’s not unusual that you have not heard about them since only experts above rank 4 use them. You see, normal weapons and elemental weapons are different. A normal sword could be crudely described as a sharp metal stick. When an expert is about to use a normal weapon you should know that they will usually infuse their energy and attribute to the weapon before using them. This process increases the weapon’s sharpness and durability. Of course, the weapon will also carry the power of your own energy as well which increases the lethality of attacks.
“However in truth, what happens is not a true infusion of energy, but more like you coating the weapon with your energy. This coating is not actually a reliable method for enhancing your weapon, this is because when powerful weapons clash against each other, this coating might disperse momentarily. If you’re not careful in these situations, your weapon might break.” Eanred explained.
“Then what is a elemental weapon?” Ena asked this time.
“An elemental weapon is different and it posses many advantages over normal weapons. Elemental weapons can actually go through a true infusion of energy. In combat this translates to a greater enhancement of toughness and sharpness. Even more powerful elemental weapons can even store energy. One of the advantages of a weapon which can store energy is that it’s always in top condition. If you have ever ambushed anybody you might notice breaking their weapons is quite easy if they manage to react to it and block your attack. This happens because they haven’t had time to coat their weapons with their energy and your weapon which has been enhanced easily shatters your enemy’s weapon. However for this infusion of energy to be successful, an element or attribute must be first fused with this weapon, which is were the ‘elemental’ part of the name comes from.”
As Eanred said this Mars nodded his head. He often ambushed people so he knew about this as well.
“A weapon which can store energy is always in top condition. So if you ambush someone holding an elemental weapon you will find that shattering their weapon will not be possible. You can even use the stored energy when you run out of energy yourself. Another advantage that comes from the infusion and storing ability from elemental weapons is that they can support more of your power. More power infused obviously leads to more powerful strikes.” After saying this Eanred smiled at Mars.
Raising his eyebrow at Eanred’s smile Mars said, “From your smile it seems these elemental weapons possess another function as well?” Mars had interacted with Eanred for quite a long time already so he was familiar with his expressions.
“That’s right. However this function only applies to Masterworks. Masterworks are elemental weapons of the highest quality. Aside from the two previous functions I mentioned to you earlier, Masterworks can actually be fused with truths and laws from the world! An elemental weapon below the masterwork level might help you unleash all your power. However a Masterwork will help you unleash power which goes beyond your own!”
Mars eyes started to shine when he heard Eanred’s explanation. “So where do I get one of these weapons done?”
“Haha! My friend, this is just me explaining about elemental weapons to you. Furthermore only experts above rank 7 can afford Masterworks. As I said before, the last Blacksmith which could forge Elemental weapons ascended to the floating islands two years ago. An he could only craft elemental weapons which possessed the infusing capability but not the storing function.The Turinium you got is very valuable. Rank 6 experts often use Turinium to craft their weapons. However if you want a Masterwork then just Turinium is not enough. And to craft a normal weapon using Turinium is very wasteful”
“So you’re telling me to just save up the Turinium for when I find a blacksmith who possess enough capability?” Mars thought before saying.
“Yes, you should just get a normal weapon for now. Running around with a weapon made of Turinium with your current strength would soon bring disaster to you. Don’t tell anyone else you own Turinium either.” Eanred spoke his thoughts to Mars. To obtain a treasure but not being able to use it was not a good feeling at all. However he knew Mars would understand.
After a few hours they finally reached the Lightning Valley. As soon as Mars got close he could tell the concentration of lightning attribute worldly energy had increased considerably since the last time he came to this place. Surely something fun had happened here.
“Mars are you sure you want to enter? I already warned you about the new dangers that we might encounter within the valley. There is nothing wrong with retreating. We can come back later once the situation clears out and stabilizes. The elementals are no joke you know!” Eanred knew Mars was quite prideful and maybe even arrogant. However since he was his friend he would try to help him nevertheless.
Mars just smirked back at him, “Yes, I’m sure I want to enter. Don’t worry about the elementals either. Even if we encounter them, we will be safe. Probably.”
“Probably?!” Just when Eanred was about to fly into a rage Mars grabbed Ena’s waist and dashed forwards while laughing.
Eanred had his eyelids twitch a bit. He then took a deep breath and dashed forward as well. ‘Oh what the hell am I doing?’
As soon as Mars entered the valley he rapidly started to absorb lightning energy and his power level slowly started to increase again. Just after a week his power level had already increased from 1401 to 1436. Once his power level reached 7000 he would be ready to make another breakthrough and become a rank 4 expert.
Ena was also benefiting a lot from coming to this place and her power level increased rapidly as well. Mars guessed that after a few more months she would be ready to become a rank 3 expert.
They also took their time searching for more Turinium as well however they did not have much luck with this endeavour. They had also discovered a few of the changes the valley had experienced. The most obvious one was that demon beast which were found in deeper areas from the valley were actually roaming around the outer areas. They also found more natural treasures lying all over the place. Some of them looked as if they had fallen from the sky and were just hiding deep within craters.
Two weeks after they entered the valley they heard hundreds Howls and growls echoing in the distance. Soon a huge red cloud of lightning appeared flying behind a mountain.
Lightning Elementals!
They had actually found the same cloud that Eanred had previously mentioned! From their trajectory it seemed as if this cloud of Lightning Elementals was going to fly close to them soon. They were travelling very fast as well, it wouldn’t possible for Mars and company to escape. Eanred was sure that if this swarm of elementals passed by Ascencion city everyone in that place would probably die!
Eanred instantly grew tense and turned his gaze towards Mars nervously. Although Mars had told him that he would be able to deal with this situation he still wasn’t convinced. He even was starting to regret coming here. ‘Bastard! I’ll beat you up in the afterlife if you lied to me!’
Mars just smiled and silently removed the black bandage on his right arm which was covering his overcharge gem. As soon as the bandage was removed some energy started to slowly leak out from the gem.
A unique aura soon covered them.
In the blink of an eye the swarm of elementals was already close to them. Each elemental carried a fierce aura of destruction. When the hundreds of elementals traveled together the fierce aura of destruction multiplied several times.
Even Mars himself who said there was nothing to worry about, suddenly felt as if a big hand was pressing against his shoulders and had some trouble breathing. He had a great resistance to lightning and Ena also had some degree of resistance towards lightning however Eanred felt as if his bones were being squeezed and his face soon turned pale.
Howl!
Growl!
Soon the swarm of Lightning Elementals flew by their heads. The aura of destruction intensified and soon even Mars had trouble standing. However no matter how many of them passed by none of them took action against them. Some of the elementals flew very close to them and even took a close look at them however they did not attack. After a few growls they joined back their swarm.
A few seconds later the elementals had already disappeared behind a mountain.
Eanred was overwhelmed by fear and had his back covered in sweat. His legs were trembling so much that he just sat on the ground. Mars and Ena weren’t in a good condition either.
With a somewhat shaky voice Mars awkwardly smiled at Eanred, “See? Nothing happened!”
