The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 39

Apparently the swarm of Elementals came to the outer areas from the valley because they were also escaping from the powerful creature which lay above the dark clouds.

Mars quickly gave a look at his surroundings. Since there was no way he would be able to escape far with his companions since their current state wouldn’t allow it. He could only search for a place to hide nearby.

Mars could already see the fierce beasts roaring in the distance. He guessed it would be just a few seconds before they ran over them. This stampede consisted on mostly rank 4 and rank 5 beasts after all. Their speed was incredibly fast and they could run through several kilometers in seconds.

His first thought was to search for a cave to hide but he couldn’t see any cave close nearby. Then Mars noticed the current state of the ground. When the giant golem fell over, it caused something similar to a powerful earthquake. Mountains had crumbled and the ground had cracked. Many places had even caved in.

Mars looked around for a second before noticing a wide enough fissure for them to jump in several hundred meters away from them. “Eanred, since you can’t see I’ll carry you alright?”

“Sure let’s just get out from this place!” Eanred gritted his teeth and agreed to Mars suggestion. It was not like he had any other choice either. Currently his life depended on Mars.

‘Overcharge!’ Mars knew there was no time to lose so he immediately activated his overcharge state in a boom. Red lightning started to streak all around his body and his power level rapidly increased until it doubled it’s previous amount.

Hiss, grunt, roar, ugh-ugh!

“What’s that? What’s going on?!” Eanred suddenly grew tense when he heard thousands of beast roars approaching.

“Sorry, no time to explain!” He quickly placed Persian on his back, held Ena’s waist with his right hand, and then grabbed Eanred with his left hand. Activating the lightning flash movement art he stomped the ground and dashed forward with the greatest speed he could muster.

Although he was burdened because he was carrying his companions he still managed to create a sonic boom the moment he dashed forward.

In a few seconds Mars arrived to the fissure and jumped inside without hesitation. The fissure was less than a meter wide, but Mars couldn’t tell how deep it actually was. As soon as they jumped inside they started falling.

“Eanred! Feel the wall? Use your power to pierce it and hold on!” Noticing they were falling Mars quickly said and he let go of Eanred. Now that he had one hand free he infused his fingertips with lightning and pierced them into the wall to stop their fall. Eanred reacted a second later and only managed to stop his fall tens of meters below Mars. Although he couldn’t see, he could still do this much.

Since many places had caved in, it also meant that there were many hollow spaces below the valley. If they fell to an underground cave it could be the end for them. Who knew what kind of creatures roamed the underground tunnels?

Just a few seconds later the sound of thousands of beasts running and roaring was heard coming from above.

If one of these beasts suddenly stopped and attacked them while they were hiding inside, it would be bad news. The beasts had obviously spotted them since they just jumped inside the fissure. However Mars hoped that the beast would ignore them and would continue their way.

Unfortunately since many things had gone wrong already, it would only be logical if more of them went wrong now.

Suddenly a long blue lightning snake with horns slipped through the fissure. This demon beast was very strong and powerful rank 4 fluctuations were being released from its body. Mars guessed this creature had power level between 10000 and 12000.

The moment Mars saw this snake fall, he got nervous.

The snake was going return to the surface but it then spotted Mars and company below.

Hiss!

“Just go away you prick!” When Mars saw this he immediately released his path gem aura which would be able to suppress all lightning attribute creatures.

He hoped this snake would grow intimidated and would flee after it sensed his aura.

The snake hissed and retreated a few meters. It could tell its power level had been suppressed by a third of its original amount after Mars’ aura touched its body.

Under normal circumstances Mars would be able to deal with this snake without many difficulties since his power level was around 2900 in his overcharge state. The lightning valley was an area full of lightning and he could further increase his power level to a shocking amount of 4000!

Unfortunately he did not have much space to move inside this fissure. Furthermore he was holding to Ena and Persian while he simultaneously had one hand embedded into the wall to avoid falling.

Snakes were agile and nimble. If the snake fought Mars under the current circumstances then Mars would be severely disadvantaged.

Hiss! Although the snake retreated it did not leave. It could tell that if it devoured Mars it would reap some benefits. After hesitating for a few seconds it hissed and suddenly turned into a streak of lightning while it dashed towards Mars!

“So unreasonable! Eanred prepare to catch Persian!” Gritting his teeth Mars threw Persian towards Eanred in order to reduce his burden. He still held to Ena though. Eanred couldn’t see and might have trouble catching both Ena and Persian. Since Persian was currently the greatest burden he decided to throw Persian instead.

Eanred was not prepared for this was pushed further below when Persian clashed against him. He somewhat managed to hold to the cat and made another hole into the wall to avoid falling. “Damn! What is going on? Is that a demon beast?”

However Mars did not have time to answer him. He quickly placed Ena on his back and then proceeded to use his free hand to throw a punch towards the snake!

Boom!

A shockwave shook the walls around them and several cracks started to appear. If they were not careful they might end up getting buried alive. Mars was not able to exert all his strength and was sent flying below. Quickly reacting, Mars embedded his fingers into the wall to avoid falling.

Mars felt his muscles growing sour and he knew it wouldn’t be long before his overcharge state reached its limit. Once his overcharge state was depleted he would be severely weakened and the snake would have no trouble with killing him with one blow.

’27 seconds!’ Pulling out a cheap sword from his spacial bag, he quickly slashed towards the snake who was dashing towards him again.

Clank! The snake tried to avoid the slash however the blade would suddenly appear and disappear mysteriously. After avoiding the attack a couple of times the sword finally hit its body and it was sent flying away.

Mars thought this slash was going to be enough but reality was cruel. Although this snake had been weakened, its body was just as tough! Only a few scales flew off and soon the snake attacked again!

23 seconds!

19 seconds!

The snake could freely move inside this fissure and it launched several attacks from difficult angles. After tens of attacks it had already injured Mars. The snake had also received several blows and it had lost many of its scales as well.

15 seconds!

10 seconds!

5 seconds!

Mars could feel his time was running out but he couldn’t land a lethal blow to the snake! The situation was terrible, he was the one in the disadvantageous position in this fight and he already had several wounds all over his body.

The snake had already noticed he was trying to protect Ena and would launch sneak attacks against her from time to time which worsened the situation.

Hundreds of thoughts were running through Mars head and he was already feeling the shadows of death approaching.

3 seconds!

Hiss! The snake launched another attack towards him.

Gritting his teeth Mars decided to change tactics. He threw away his sword and carefully observed the trajectory of the snake’s attack.

Crackle! In the blink of an eye, the snake was already in front of Mars’ abdomen. Once the snake got close, Mars tried to grab it with his bare hands!

Clap! He felt the scales of the snake quickly slipping through his fingers and quickly used his lightning to create a magnetic force which held the snake in place. Unfortunately he still miscalculated and the snake managed to pierce a hole in his body. Although the snake did not manage to completely pierce through him, he was still severely injured.

Puh! After coughing some blood Mars quickly pulled off the snake away from his abdomen!

2 seconds!

“You’re done damned bastard!” Using all his strength Mars squeezed the snake with his hands until… Pah! It split in half!

The lower body from the snake quickly fell into the darkness below.

Hiss! The snake was still alive though and it hissed in anger and pain. Rank 4 creatures possess a powerful lifeforce and wouldn’t die so easily.

1 second!

Mars was planning on absorbing it to recover but since he was running out of time he just threw the snake to the abyss below with all his remaining strength. He couldn’t use the absorption unless his target was unconscious. Since he did not want to risk it he decided to throw away the snake. He was confident the snake wouldn’t be able to crawl back up. Although it was still alive, it would soon die because of its injuries.

The next moment he felt his body grow weak. He barely held into the walls but could feel his sight blurring. Biting his tongue Mars managed to stay awake. If he fainted he would fall. Ena was with him, he couldn’t fall now!

“Mars, what what happened?” Eanred’s voice suddenly echoed from below.

“Just nothing some worm tried to mess with me” Mars had trouble speaking. He felt so tired and could faint any second. A lot of blood was also leaking from the wound in his abdomen.

“Oh ” Although Mars sounded casual about it, Eanred heard a few hundred clashes occur a few seconds ago. He could also guess how tired Mars was when he heard his voice.

Now that he had some time to think Mars looked down at Persian. He was completely perplexed. He did not understood at all why Persian had suddenly fainted. Since other rank 4 creatures were fine after that mysterious dragon roar, why was Persian affected so badly?

After a few minutes the sound of beasts slowly faded into the distance. Taking a deep sigh Mars decided to wait for a few more minutes before taking a peek outside.
