The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 46
When the 13th elder arrived many of the other elders snorted in displeasure however they knew the rules so they didn’t say anything.
Seeing that everyone was quiet the 13th elder smiled in contentment. Taking a few steps forward she arrived before Mars. “Kid, you arrived here faster than I thought. It usually takes people several more years to ascend.”
Mars just smiled back at her but didn’t say anything.
Seeing his nonchalant expression the 13th elder raised her eyebrow. She remembered this kid was a lot more talkative when she brought him here. Coughing awkwardly she started talking again.
“Well, since you will be joining the Loftycloud palace then you should take a master as well. You specialize in the Lightning attribute which is very rare. I recognize I’m not the best choice to guide you” saying this much she had a thoughtful expression.
There was one elder which also possessed the lightning attribute however he belonged to the opposing faction. ‘Grand Elder Cade would be the most suitable person to guide him however he is rather eccentric and has never accepted a disciple furthermore who knows when he will return to Loftycloud the conflict in the southern territories is still going after all’ Thinking things carefully she decided to make a bold decision. She was not sure if this was the best choice but it would probably end up being beneficial towards Mars.
“Ok, I’ve decided. There are not many people who are suitable to guide you so for now you can forget about getting a master. You will join Loftycloud’s blacksmith school! For now… your goal will be to have one of those grumpy old men acknowledge you as a student!” blacksmithing was a revered and important occupation. Although it consumed a lot of time which was essential for geniuses, the occupation was very good too temper the heart and mind. Since she noticed Mars was lacking in this area she thought this might be a good choice
“A blacksmith?” Scratching his head Mars did not know what to think about this response. Truth was that he did not think he needed a master to guide him. The main reason he came her was because the resources here were better. He had plenty of skills already and his star path was so high that no other person would be suitable to guide him. However blacksmithing was different. Although he held some curiosity towards blacksmithing, he didn’t really know much regarding this profession.
Meanwhile the other elders frowned when they heard her words. Blacksmithing was not for anyone. Although this young man was very talented as a warrior, it was a mystery if he would be talented for blacksmithing. They thought the 13th elder could potentially waste this talent.
“Elder Emilia, I don’t think this a good choice” The bald middle aged man said with a frown on his face. Apparently the name of this 13th elder was Emilia.
Snorting, she glave a glare to the bald man and proceeded to ignored what he just said. Focusing her gaze back on Mars she asked, “So what do you think? Do you agree?”
Mars could feel her gaze had suddenly grown sharper. She seemed to be asking a question but Mars suspected she was probably commanding him to agree as well. In fact, she seemed like she would fly into a rage if he did not agree.
“But I don’t know anything about blacksmithing…” Mars was not sure what to say either. When he first met this elder she was as calm as the sea taking another look at her, he concluded that although externally she looked like a angel, inwardly she actually had a very domineering and weird personality. When he remembered how they were pushed off the floating island without a warning several years ago Mars was even more confident about his assessment.
“Then you’ll learn! Ok, it’s settled then!” Nodding her head she threw a black ring towards Mars. “This is a spacial ring. It’s a lot more convenient than a spacial bag. Inside is my personal communication stone, you can use it to contact me whenever you want. You shall report your progress every three months!”
“But I…” Mars tried to interject however he was interrupted.
“I have some important matters to attend. Don’t forget your reports!” Then she took a single step and this elder Emilia vanished from sight.
“I have not agreed though” Scratching his head Mars was not sure what to make from this situation.
“Ah a pity.” An elder sighed and quickly vanished as well. Others followed and quickly vanished after him. They had come to try recruit some talents but in the end only one of them was lucky.
Looking around Mars noticed that Ena was also here. A middle aged woman with a kind disposition was standing beside her. He could tell there was something odd on Ena’s expression but he couldn’t quite tell what it was.
“Ena?” Since she was just standing there awkwardly he decided to ask.
“Mars I’m sorry I said I was going to join Loftycloud with you but”
“What do you mean?” Mars was startled by what she said. They had been together ever since they met. He was not comfortable with the idea of her separating from him.
After remaining silent for a couple of seconds Ena straightened her back and looked at Mars directly in his eyes.
“I’m joining Night Sky Palace.” Biting her lips she finally said.
“But”
“I know but I can’t have you protect me all the time I I also want to protect you!” Previously she had not dared to tell him. She had pondered a lot about this decision. She did not want to be a burden. She also wanted to shine and stand beside her lover, not only behind his back.
She took several steps forwards and hugged him. She wanted to kiss him however her new master was here and she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Mars who was still struggling to accept the new development just sighed and hugged her back.
Biting her lips she murmured close to his ear, “Don’t you dare to get close to other women!”
Smiling Mars lovingly gazed at her, “Of course not!”
However Ena just snorted. Back in ascencion city she spent a lot of time trying to chase away other women. She knew Mars loved her however she was well aware that he would not always be the most reliable person. After two years he looked a lot more handsome and dignified. Considering his high talents she was sure many ladies would jump at him! This was one of the matters which worried her the most.
Mars did not know what she was thinking so he softly kissed her forehead. “I hope we meet again soon!”
Not wanting to make this separation unnecessarily sad Mars turned around planning to leave this place. He took a few steps forward but then he just stood there awkwardly while giving his back at Ena.
Several seconds passed but he did not continue moving.
Ena just chuckled and softly shook her head. She guessed Mars was trying to leave while keeping his cool but then remembered that he did not know how to get out from this place so he ended up standing there awkwardly.
Quietly she gave Mars one last gaze full of love and silently left with her master.
After a few moments Mars turned around and noticed that Ena had already left. ‘Ai how embarrassing’ Shaking his head he buried this moment in the deepest parts of his mind and continued to look around.
There was nothing. Everyone had already left. Even after he yelled around there was no response.
‘All those elders suddenly came and then they just left me here They said that I was one of the three ultimate existences who managed to reach that far on the bridge trial (or something along those lines)… Why did they suddenly leave me here alone then? How rude of them…’ Scratching his head Mars just kept walking around the place. After a few minutes he soon found a strange pathway. He hesitated for a second before taking a step inside and after feeling his surroundings change he found himself now standing outside the gray building.
‘What a weird place I wonder how this place was constructed’ After exciting that weird dimension he noticed there was no one outside either so he just went along the path he came from.
After walking for several minutes he arrived to the border of this floating islands but there was nothing here as well.
‘Even if they were going to leave… they could at least provide me with some instructions’ Mars continued to scratch his head and started to explore this floating island but found nothing. After almost two hours of fruitless searching he seemed to remember something and smacked his forehead.
“I’m such an idiot!” He took out the black ring from his pocket and began to inspect it.
This ring was as simple as it could be. It did not possess any ornamentations or any sort of inscriptions around it. It was just a simple black ring. After making sure that there were no contraptions which could open this ring he tried injecting some his energy inside the ring but nothing happened.
‘Maybe I have to wear it?’ A spacial bag was a lot more simple. You only had to open the bag at that was about it. However he had never heard about spacial rings even in Lugasta, so he didn’t know how to use them. He placed the ring in one of his fingers and nothing happened.
‘Then I guess it’s blood’ He remembered reading that some items required blood in order to be used. Biting one of his fingers very hard a drop of blood soon flowed. Tilting his hand he carefully let this drop fall on top of the ring.
Another chapter is coming soon 🙂
