The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 48
“Never heard of you.” Mars squinted his eyes. “What do you know about me?”
Ludokai looked up in the distance and suddenly he seemed to be remembering memories from a distant past. Mars didn’t know if this was illusion or not but he suddenly felt that this guy looked mysterious and archaic. Almost as if he had lived through countless years and had seen everything in this world.
Softly caressing the pocket watch on his hands Ludokai said, “Well, even though you don’t know about me, I know a quite a few things about you Alright, Let me tell you a story!”
Looking thoughtful for a moment he then walked towards a nearby bench and sat down. Turning his gaze towards Mars he patted the spot beside him with his palm. Apparently he was signalling Mars to sit beside him.
Mars just raised an eyebrow and shook his head. ‘I just met you alright? You look dangerous and mysterious! There is no way I’m sitting beside you to listen a story!’
Noticing that Mars wasn’t coming Lusokai coughed awkwardly. Clearing his throat he bagan telling the story. “Once upon a time there was an arrogant young man who entered Loftycloud Palace, his talents are unparalleled and his future is grand.” As he said this he gave a meaningful stare at Mars. Apparently he was saying this young man of his story was him.
Mars just snorted and crossed his arms.
“Several days later, in a fateful encounter, he met the current prime disciple of Loftycloud Palace The prime disciple was mysterious, handsome, and his talent was unparalleled as well.” At this point Ludokai blushed a bit but his expression did not change. “Well, the prime disciple was better than the young man in every aspect! At first the prime disciple thought this young man was interesting. Later on, due to different reasons the prime disciple and the young man become enemies!”
If Mars was not wrong then this guy was probably the Prime disciple of Loftycloud in the story. ‘Very Narcissistic!’ In his mind he was thinking there was something wrong in the story. He believed that the young man should be better than the prime disciple. However he had the feeling that this dude infront of him was very dangerous so he did not say a thing.
“Even though the prime disciple was stronger than the young man, he could never find a good opportunity to deal with him. The young man was also blessed with some ridiculous luck and despite every obstacle the prime disciple placed on his way, he still managed rise to prominence. Unreconciled, the young man also wanted to fight back and under the influence of some of the elders from the palace he then decides to fight for the prime disciple position.” Ludokai snorted in displeasure when he said this part.
In exchange Mars silently nodded in agreement. Apparently he liked the development of the story.
Ludokai then chuckled and continued with the story, “However even after hundreds of struggles and years of effort he never wins! This young man had a flaw on his heart, so his progress was shackled. However this young man possessed a stubborn personality. With time this flaw starts to disappear after he went several tempering experiences. Years later the young man finally unshackles all of his potential! Unfortunately it was too late already.”
Mars squinted his eyes after listening this portion of the story. He was not sure what to think. ‘Could it be he threaten me?’ However looking at Ludokai’s expression it did not seem that way.
Meanwhile Ludokai already had a serious expression. “Several years later a big mission was issued! Both the young man and the prime disciple were sent along a group of experts to fight a powerful enemy! Later in the mission, the group encountered a force which was beyond their strength and almost everyone ended up dying. Only the prime disciple did manage to survive! However the young man died because… he was not strong enough! At first the prime disciple was delighted! Unfortunately, due to an unfortunate turn of events the prime disciple ends up dying just a few years later.”
After saying the last sentence Ludokai had thoughtful expression and remained silent. Apparently this was the end of his story.
“That’s it? That’s some crappy story you know!” Raising an eyebrow Mars looked at the guy in front of him with some doubts. That story was horrible and there were several inconsistencies with it. He also didn’t like that the young man had died but since the prime disciple died as well he unwillingly accepted it. However he could guess that Ludokai was being vague about it on purpose and withheld several portions of the story.
Looking straight at Mars with his silver eyes the Ludokai laughed, “Haha! Well, what if I told you that you are the young man in this story? And that I am the prime disciple?”
“You couldn’t have made it more obvious however it’s nonsense! You would never be able to match up to me! You might be stronger know but that doesn’t mean anything!” Mars just snorted, however he wasn’t sure if this guy infront of him was resorting to some weird type of provocation. ‘Is he telling me I’m going to become his enemy and then die? This guy sure speaks a lot of nonsense’
“Haha! As if! Well, that’s not important!” Ludokai suddenly straightened his back and said seriously, “That story is the real deal. It will happen! So I will need your help in the future. But before you can help me, you need to become much stronger! You have to survive and then team up with me! Otherwise we will both die in the future!” Then he took a piece folded paper from his pocket and gave it to Mars.
Mars was starting to believe this guy infront of him was insane! Not convinced by what he was saying and still maintaining his wariness Mars made a motion with his hand and the piece of paper flew towards him.
After reading the first few paragraphs of information inside the piece of paper Mars’ expression changed for the worse and with a frown along with an icy voice he yelled at Ludokai. “How did you know!?”
Inside the piece of paper were written several actions he would take after arriving to the island, it also mentioned the people he would encounter on his way and several other developments. At first he thought everything inside the paper was completely nonsense. However it also mentioned that he would search and find a particular person.
Ludakai had even written the name of this person and how things will develop once he met this person. What astonished him however was the name of this person was actually ‘Clair’.
Before Eanred died he briefly spoke about his wife, so Mars was aware of her name. He had said that his wife was probably living here in Loftycloud Island. Knowing that not meeting her was one of the biggest regrets in Eanred’s life, Mars had been planning to search for her once he arrived here.
The name of Eanred’s wife Clair!
But now the name of this person was written in the piece of paper Ludakai had given him! He was completely sure he had never spoken to anyone about the events in the Lightning Valley. Furthermore very few people actually knew that he was friends with Eanred! He didn’t how Ludokai was able to get his hands on this information. Furthermore after thinking for a second he realised that he might actually act in a similar fashion as Ludokai described in the piece of paper.
At first he had guessed that Ludokai had made a very thorough investigation about him through the use of his connections. However he was not so sure about that theory. Why would he investigate him so thoroughly if he had never met him?
Ludokai just smiled and after standing up he slowly started walking towards Mars while looking even more mysterious. His hair was even flapping without wind and his silver eyes shined with mysteriousness “You see the story I told you a second ago, will become the truth! The piece of paper I gave you will also become truth!”
“Truth? Haha! How can you be sure about the future?!” However Mars felt an aura of danger coming from this person, so he took several steps back and kept his distance from Ludokai while he laughed at his words. Now he was completely sure that this guy was crazy!
