The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 52
“Look she is here!”
“Senior sister Jill thank you for taking time to teach us!”
Some girls had their eyes shining and said excitedly. Apparently this Jill was quite well liked and famous. Truth was that every core disciple was very known.
Following her behind her was the maid which received Mars. She carried a black stone tablet and went around each individual to collect the fee for the lesson.
Soon Jill walked into a platform which had already been prepared and stood before everyone. She looked valiant and charming at the same time. With her phoenix blue eyes she glanced at everyone in the courtyard. Soon she began to speak with a voice which was soft and yet confident, “Today I will be teaching you how to forge a spear suitable for rank 3 warriors by using the ‘ascending dragon technique’, the main material for today’s lesson will be profound iron ore.”
Profound iron ore was like regular iron. The main difference was that profound iron has received the nourishment of worldly energy so its quality was much higher.
Then she proceeded to pull of ring similar to Mars’, however her ring was obviously of a much higher quality and it appeared to be made of red glass. With a few motions of her hands she infused some of her energy into it. The ring slowly levitated until it reached her chest’s height and then it began to spin. Soon enough it was spin at incredible speeds while it remained at the same position.
After completing this process she pulled a few pieces of profound iron ores and a couple of other materials threw them inside the gap of the rotating ring. What was mystifying though was that those materials did not fall but started levitating inside the ring as if there was some type of force field which held them in place. At this point she made a few motions and the ring started to tilt omnidirectionally while it kept spinning. In no time the ring was moving so fast that it almost looked like a sphere due to the omnidirectional movement. The ores which were still inside the spinning ring quickly started to turn bright red.
(Think of this as when you spin a coin on a table. Even though the coin is flat, it will look spherical once it starts spinning. Main difference is that the ring is not just spinning on a table but in all directions so it still looks like a sphere when it moves at high speeds. The ring is something similar to a hula hoop but made from crystal and with a wider body)
At this point Jill made another motion and the spinning and omnidirectional rotation of the ring slowed down considerably, but still kept going. At this point she grabbed a black hammer and she struck the ores inside while she was careful of not touching the ring which was still moving.
Clang!
The materials inside the ring were held in place by some mysterious force field created by the ring and even though the were just hit, they did not move from their original place even an inch. The only difference was that now there was a slight bump in the piece of ore. She then continued to strike the materials rhythmically with her hammer. As she did this she began to explain, “As you continuously hit the ores with your hammer the impurities will be removed, you must use your ring to separate these impurities from the your ore and at the end you should get profound steel.”
As she stroke the ores time and time again she moved around the ring with swift steps. Each step was looked premeditated and even though this was forging, she still looked graceful as she worked. Mars even had the impression this process was similar to sculpting. After a couple of minutes of her hitting the ores only a bright red ball of metal remained inside.
At this point she stopped the omnidirectional movement of her ring and she had it just spin horizontally even faster than before. Although Mars couldn’t clearly tell how fast the ring was spinning he could tell she had suddenly infused a lot of energy into the ring and energy ripples were spreading out. As the spinning got faster and faster the bright red ball of molten metal began to stretch out. As this process was taking place Jill used her hammer once again and carefully gave shape to the piece of metal. Just after a few minutes the shape of a spear was already apparent.
She used some more delicate tools to finish up the details and when her craft had finished taking its final form she caused her ring to stop spinning. However this was not all, with another motion she made the ring to suddenly start spinning again, however this time it was in the opposite direction.
Swish! Not too rapidly and not too slowly the metal spear cooled down. It was no longer shining with a bright red color but with shiny silver glint instead.
Gripping the spear Jill carefully checked out her craft and after making several swings and pierce strikes with the spear she nodded her head in satisfaction.
“Ok, I tried to work slowly this time so you could see my techniques and how I performed each process. Now you should give it a try as well. Don’t worry, I will be here to offer you guidance when you need it.” Jill smiled kindly and said as she gazed at the crowd.
‘She was working slowly The whole process did not even take ten minutes! How is that slow!?’ Scratching his head was starting to believe that he might have underestimated the difficulty of blacksmithing. He had never heard that blacksmiths used rings to forge weapons either, he guessed this must be a unique method belonging to Loftycloud.
Analyzing the situation just now Mars could only guess that the ring worked as some kind of furnace. Once some energy is applied to the ring then a force field will activate in the middle and will hold the materials in place. Even if you are to hammer the materials, they will not move. The only way to remove them is when you stop applying energy It is probably the spinning of the ring which causes the temperature to increase, and if its spun in the opposite direction then it causes the temperature to decrease The hardest part however is the process of removing impurities.
He noticed that if the ring was not moving omnidirectionally then the materials inside would start to deform. So in order to clean the ores from impurities he would have to strike the ores with his hammer as the ring moved omnidirectionally. Even so, he could tell this process wasn’t so easy. If he stroke the moving ring by mistake, he might end up breaking the ring. So he obviously had to time when the ring would move and when to hit The ring was quite expensive so he wouldn’t be afford the breaking of several rings. Sighing he could only hope the ring was more resistant than it looks.
As for shaping the weapon? He didn’t care much about it for now. Afterall, it was important to take one step at a time! Once he mastered the process of removing impurities, he would then proceed to forging the weapon.
Ok, time to start! Looking around he noticed everyone had already begun to forging process with their own rings.
Checking out the ring on his hands he remembered that the first step was to get the ring to levitate at chest height and then make it spin. Not knowing how thing worked he decided that starting by injecting a small portion of his energy to the ring would be the best choice.
However after making it levitate for a few centimeters, the ring suddenly began spinning out of control and move in all directions. Before he could even tell what was going on, the ring body tilted and touched the ground. As soon as this happened the spinning ring suddenly shot out like a comet in a random direction.
‘Shoot!’ Mars noticed the ring was out of his control and was heading in a random direction. He stumped the ground and dashed in pursuit.
Meanwhile Jill was calmly speaking with girl and offering some pointers. This girl had just come for a few days to her lessons so she was giving her more attention. She was explaining about how she would be able to have greater control over her ring and maintain greater stability when–
“Carefull!”
Clang! Suddenly she felt as if someone had smashed a heavy hammer at the back of her head. She was distracted with her explanation so she didn’t even notice the attack coming. Fortunately she was a rank 6 expert, otherwise that sneak attack would have left her unconscious on the ground! Feeling dizzy for a second she turned around in fury! Who was so brazen to even dare attack her in the middle of her lesson!?
She immediately noticed a handsome young man was dashing towards at full speed. He looked panicked but his eyes were not on her. His eyes were on a ring which was bouncing around and with a stretch of his hand he barely managed to grab it.
Sighing in relief Mars looked around and when he saw her expression his face fell. Scratching his head in embarrassment he said, “Er you see senior sister this is all an accident! The stupid disc suddenly went crazy and well, you see I’m new here!”
