The One Luna - Chapter 30 Emergency Food World Destroyer And Spo
Luna went ahead and dashed towards Maxene’s location. Apparently, the moment she heard about the mutant beasts that posed more of a challenge than the current zombies. On his way there, he actually received large amounts of life force, allowing him to hit level 31.
Having Sura and Max was truly a huge advantage for him. Sometimes the two would go out to hunt as a duo, and sometimes they would exchange shifts, making sure that Luna would have a steady stream of EXP while he takes care of the ‘s progress.
When he got there, besides the Eagle, he also saw a dead male and female Lion, which explained the other wave of EXP he absorbed earlier. The Eagle itself hadn’t gotten too large yet, but seeing the pair of Lions, they looked like the size of tractor trucks.
After using he saw that the Eagle was only at level 20, the Lions were at 39 for the male and 35 for the female. Luna was quite surprised, if it were normal people, even 5 people at level 30, it would have been impossible to come out unscathed.
Maxene’s eyes lit up as soon as she saw Luna arrive. “Father! These mutant beasts sure were scary, but once Mother got serious, they looked as if all they wanted was to run away!”
Luna couldn’t help but be happy that he had such a reliable daughter, but what surprised him even more was that behind her was a baby Eagle, a Lion cub, and a Cheetah cub which was weird because he didn’t see Cheetah’s parent’s corpses around. What was even more shocking was that they looked at Max as if she was their master.
“Ah! Father, these are my new pets. I can keep them, right?” Max had an expectant look on her face. It was like a little girl asking her parents if she could have a dog or a cat. Except these “cats” would probably grow to be even bigger than a tank, and these birds would probably eat fighter jets for breakfast.
Sura who knew at this point what Luna was wondering decided to answer the question in his mind for him. Petting Max’s head she smiled towards Luna and she said. “When she reached level 30, apparently an innate skill exclusive to the was awakened inside her. Which is the ability. Currently she can tame up to five a day, so she chose to kill the adult ones to give you EXP, unfortunately the Cheetah was eaten by the Lions, while the little ones that are level 5 and below she tamed so they can grow up and help you out. You have quite the thoughtful daughter.”
Max seemed to enjoy the compliments she was receiving from her parents, then she quickly remembered to introduce her new pets to Luna. “Alright you three, line up for father so I can introduce you!”
The baby eagle and the two cubs lined up like proper soldiers as Max introduced them one by one. “This little bird here is a bit of a scaredy cat, so I decided to name him Emergency Food, which is what he will be if he doesn’t prove to be useful.” hearing that, Emergency Food’s eyes widened in fear as he looked towards Luna as if begging for help, while Max continued. “This one here is pretty tough, you can tell he’s pretty domineering even tried to attack us before I tamed him, I decided to call him World Destroyer, which I think is a pretty cool name, oh and this little one right here, his Mother got eaten by World Destroyer’s dad, I named him Spot, because he has lots of it.”
Sura was covering her mouth as she tried her best to hold her laughter in as she saw Luna’s stunned expression. Luna regained his composure as he said, “Good job, Max. Keep up the good work, okay? If you can, tame five a day, do so, but don’t go too far out of your way for it. Also, don’t bully Emergency Food, he will be quite valuable especially as a scout in the future.” He still couldn’t quite get over the naming process for these guys. One would think that with how much thought he put into Max’s name, that she would pay it forward towards her pets.
Hearing this, Emergency Food looked at Luna with utmost gratitude. These three would be quite useful in the future, Spot and Emergency Food would proof useful for reconnaissance missions, while World Destroyer seemed to have more value being in the front line.
Thinking back to it now, he wondered what other advantages Max had in terms of utility. When he first received the Life Tree he assumed that every territory first bonus would have some utility on a wide scale. Max, while an asset due to her combat capability and innate potential, didn’t seem to have much utility on that scale.
Until she reached level 30, that is. What other skills might she learn in the future? Regardless, her ability to tame mutant beasts, even just the newborns would prove vital in the long run.
Taming items were considered rare by the system, and that’s not accounting for the chance it might have to fail, which made it harder, if not impossible to mass tame mutant beasts.
While this wouldn’t help his individual strength much, it would indeed be extremely helpful when conquering territories. Who knows what kind of mutations these beasts would have in the future? That would only bring more advantages.
He now had another layer of plans to his previous ones, which was that after surrounding the mountain and rain forest areas, he would regulate the hunting done in those areas, so the population doesn’t dwindle too low, while still proving to be good places to hunt for food, tame beasts, and train soldiers.
With this piece of good news, he was looking forward even more to conquering the first ever large territory. What advantages would it bring towards his ? Would there be something similar to the Draconic Armor in there as well?
It seems he had to fast forward his plans a bit. While he had huge advantages in the beginning that caused him to conquer the first small and medium territories, what if there was an insane group of people out there?
He wasn’t wrong, while the rest of the world didn’t have the same advantages he had, that doesn’t mean they were just going to lay down and give up, especially when it meant so much to their survival. Luna wasn’t willing to take any chances, he would initiate the challenge at first light tomorrow.
He was willing to invest in more turrets to surround the area, seeing as it was going to be a key area for training and educating the young anyway. The reason why he wanted to use it for both was simple, if the kids would see how strong and reliable the soldiers were, they would look up to them. In the same vein, he would encourage the soldiers to be examples for the children as well.
Kind of like how the Spartan or the Viking children would look up to the adults who were strong and willingly wanted to get stronger to fight like them in the future. Of course, not everyone was suited to be a Warrior, some were better fitted to be Mages. Some unique geniuses who were fit to be Tacticians or fit two or more roles would receive more resources than usual.
Luna had read a lot of stories, whether non-fiction or fiction where he noticed things that he thought could have been done better, and he was adapting what he learned. Learning from the mistakes of great men and women could only help you, after all.
While everybody else was concerned about the large territory challenge, he was already thinking about the next steps. Which was not only expanding territory, where to expand first, but also one of the problems that were right under their noses.
Rats and Roaches.
He’d read stories before about rat tides and how fatal they can be. He’d never read about Roach tides, but they weren’t outside the realm of possibilities. If those two would kill each other in the sewers, that would be amazing, but that was too much wishful thinking.
This was also one of the reasons why he spent the extra currency for the system housing right away instead of spending more time collecting money and making people pay for it themselves, because they had built-in disposal systems that disintegrated any type of waste that made it so they wouldn’t have to worry about waste that would attract pests, or relying on a sewage system, which would have been a free entrance for such pests.
With that said, the tall walls they have wouldn’t help much during a rat or a roach tide. He had to figure out a plan to counter them.
It should also be known that the Philippines is a haven for spiders as well. Prior to the new world, it was a hobby for a lot of kids to catch spiders for spider fights, especially since they were incredibly easy to find, which was a testament to how common they were in areas with a lot of vegetation.
Thinking about these things gave Luna a headache. It was a good thing that the mutation for these things haven’t gone out of control yet. Keeping those in mind, he continued to join to grind for EXP with Sura and Max. With his current VIT being at 108, unless he was pushed beyond his limits, he wouldn’t need that much sleep to be in top condition.
After all, while these three would find it hard to find their match, the reason for that was because they never slacked off from the get-go, which lead to the advantages they had today.
Although they didn’t gain another level today, they still made some progress before they had to head back to rest.
