The One Luna - Chapter 58 The Other Types Of Agima
“So these Agimats, they are used as sort of buffs for the Nation they belong to.”
“That is mostly true, Lord Luna.” Elder Aran replied. He remembered just how intense and bloody the fights were for these relics. How many loved ones had he lost?
Regaining his composure, he continued. “As you can see, it took effect on the Tarsiers, even attracted numerous Mutant Beasts. It’s effect can still be quite potent, albeit, it applies to whomever it can, in it’s surroundings. Some work differently, take the EXP Agimat, for example. If not applied to a nation, it won’t spread out as much, as a matter of fact, a single mutant beast, zombie, or human can monopolize it if they wanted to. Of course, that’s assuming they were capable of eliminating all challengers.”
“Is this how the leader of the Dark Elves became a Demigod before yours?”
“Not quite. This is why we regret it so much. Why did we look down on the Dark Elves? Why did we keep on instigating them? The leader of the Dark Elves was obviously a magnanimous man. He didn’t use the excuse of ‘doing it for the race’ and monopolized the EXP relic, he strengthened his whole nation. Just like you are, Lord Luna. So many things you could monopolize to make yourself stronger and make yourself unstoppable with the world’s current state. The Elven people know this, and this is why we are loyal to you.”
Despite the praise he received, Luna didn’t feel flattered at all. It only fueled the urge to learn further about the mistakes the other races made, and learn from them.
“I don’t mean to play myself off as some hero. Because truth be told, I need the Sovereign Nation to have strong men and women. Because if that weren’t the case, there is no way I could protect everyone even if I were five times as strong as I am now.”
Elder Aran smiled. He was still quite happy about his choice of pledging allegiance to Luna. “That is why we trust that you have our well-being as one of your priorities as well, Lord Luna. Now, where were we.” taking a second to organize his thoughts, he continued. “Ah, yes. When you think of how it could have been. If we worked together with the Dark Elves, we wouldn’t have depleted our resources and our armies, only to be done in, in the end. One can only imagine, what if our leader and the Dark Elf leader shared knowledge with each other. Two Demigods, oh my. And if our races shared knowledge with each other.” Elder Aran had a hopeful look in his eyes. “Masterful in both body enhancement techniques and elements.”
Truth be told, Sura could definitely teach them. Just that it was taboo for her to do so and the fact that there would be many casualties due to how brutal the Asuran techniques were.
She was definitely willing to ignore the rules and teach Luna as well, but for some reason, after much speculation, they deemed that the Draconic armor’s reinforcement on Luna’s body far surpassed even the techniques owned by the Asura. Even better, it completely fit him.
This was the case with cultivating one’s body. You had to choose a technique that fit you as close to perfection as can be. There was the option of creating your own, but that was way too hard to even be an option for most.
The same could be said for elements. Even the Elves, individually, would feel more attuned to a certain element compared to the rest.
Everyone protected their specialty. Even when they were tortured, nobody would give in. Majority had means to kill themselves upon capture. They would not allow a monster who mastered both types of techniques to appear from an enemy race. It was as simple as that.
“I see. You don’t have to worry, Elder Aran. You’ve taught us a great deal, and for that I am grateful. When the time comes, I will be sure to try and find a suitable body enhancement technique for everyone.”
“Thank you, Lord Luna. Now, back to the topic of Agimats or Relics. The next tier below the EXP relics, are as you might have guessed. The Elemental comprehension and the Body enhancement comprehension Agimats. As you can tell, they are very specialized, but despite that, less potent than the EXP Agimat.”
“If we obtain the Body enhancement comprehension Agimat, will you be able to learn one that fits your constitution?” Luna inquired.
“I’m afraid not. While the Dark Elves got the EXP relic, a few weeks later, we got the body enhancement relic. We were so happy. Even if the Dark Elf leader became a Demigod, but if our leader who was at the cusp of it as well, learned a suitable body enhancement technique, we would have had nothing to fear. Much to our disappointment, it did nothing for us.” Elder Aran shook his head.
He remembered how joyous they were, only to be faced with complete and utter disappointment. They even tried to trick the Dark Elves into trading, but the leader caught on to their scheme and denied the trade.
“The next ones in the same tier, are the Magic attack, Physical attack, Magic defense, and Physical defense. Pretty self explanatory, but there’s another detail to them. The magic attack Agimat is in the form of an elemental knuckle, much like the one Apple has, but much stronger, and can adapt to whatever the user’s elemental affinity is.”
“Oh? I’m guessing the physical attack one is in the form of a sword or something?” Luna was definitely curious.
“It can be.” Elder Aran replied.
“It can be?”
“Yes. The physical attack Agimat can take the form of any sword, shield, spear, or any weapon you please. Non-projectile, of course. It does however, start off with the appearance of a sword.” The last line dashed Luna’s hopes.
“Damn. I was too naive, it seems. How I wish it could turn into an rocket launcher.” Luna laughed. He knew it was wishful thinking to begin with.
“Well, speaking of projectiles, any non-magic weapons produced by the will be enhanced if the relic is applied to the whole nation. That includes the bullets the automated turrets produce after gathering atmospheric energy.”
Luna laughed even louder. “Hahaha! Good, good! The sharpshooters will definitely be happy to hear about this.”
“L-lord Luna? You’re talking as if you already have it.” Elder Aran was confused. Yes, Maxene definitely sensed that the Philippines had quite a number of treasures which might very well be the Agimats. But how was Luna so sure that he would get the Physical attack one?
“Almost, Elder Aran. Come with me, we’re going to Siquijor. That hard-headed couple, Hana and Mabini stayed despite my order to retreat because they received reports of a possible treasure. Can you guess what it looks like?” Luna had a huge grin on his face.
“Oh my, what luck!” Elder Aran was incredibly happy as well. “Very well then, Lord Luna, allow this old one to accompany you! We’ll talk about the other Agimats on the way!”
