The Only Daughter of the Tyrant - Chapter 1
“Your Royal Highness. You can’t be here. Then, Her Majesty the Princess keeps opening her eyes out of curiosity and looking upwards. Would that hurt your eyes or not? Is it good that her Majesty is sick?”
A strange woman’s voice was heard.
She seemed like an old woman.
The sound was so vivid right next to me that I opened my eyes.
“No. Absolutely not. Go away. Adele, are you the only one still in a good position?”
“No, I came first. I’ve only had half the steak to see you here, but why would I leave?”
I turned my head to the sound, wondering what it was.
The first thing that came to me was a smell.
A lovely baby smell.
What is it? Is it…? Where am I?’
I tried to find out where I was.
“Ah. Our Stiana. Did you wake up to see your brother?”
I could hear a cute voice, but I couldn’t see a face even if I looked around.
Then I turned my head some more and a child, who appeared three years old, was hanging from the bed, waving his arms.
The fingers clasped to the railing were white.
His face was smushed by the railing as he pushed his face closer to look at me through the railing beside the bed.
Even though it wasn’t, the face became more cute.
But why is he so anxious to see me?
‘Wait. Brother? That little thing is my Oppa? How small should I be for that?’
I tried to jump to my feet, wondering what the situation was.
However, my short, chubby arms were just struggling in the air.
It clearly caught my attention.
I could feel my eyes getting rounder and bigger.
I could feel a cold sweat coming from my face.
‘This is… what’s going on?’
Why is this white, small, soft, seemingly useless arm on me?
What about this hand…?
How was I supposed to hold a sword with this?
What’s this?
I couldn’t shut my mouth and thought, as my back also started to sweat.
It wasn’t like this a little while ago.
This had to be a dream.
I’m sure it was, and it must be a terrible one.
I shook my head and closed my eyes.
I don’t know why I closed my eyes thinking that I should wake up, but the things that happened to me came back up like a dream.
*
“This place is dangerous. Your Highness the Prince… If you go, even if it takes a little longer, it’d be better to take a detour. It is said that new bandits have turned up around homes here. They are very cruel and are even said to eat human meat.”
I was out of breath as I spoke while pointing at a location on a map placed atop a simple table.
The last wounds I received had not yet healed, I thought I would have been able to get rid of this operation, but the prince refused.
-It’s weird like you’re going out naked without Stiana around me. Stiana should always be by my side. Stiana is my sword and my extra life.
He knew the power of his beautiful face, his pleasant voice, and his dangerous expression.
-Stiana never refuses what I order.
With her beautiful blue eyes wide open, speaking as if wetting a person’s heart, his hand actually swept down the cheek of Eileen Young-ae sitting next to him.
The prince had a deep look on his face when he heard what I had said.
“No. I’m going here. The Prince of the Inver Kingdom isn’t that cowardly. What would people think of me if I was rumored to have taken a detour because I was afraid of some bandits? Stiana wouldn’t want me to be teased, would she? Let’s clean them up and go. That’ll do.”
“But Your Majesty.”
My body is not in good condition. And not many of your knights can fight against them. I alone make up almost 80% of the entire power of the Knights, and the remaining thirty people will be in a hurry to protect your Majesty.
That was what I had to say.
But he wouldn’t listen to me with his hands held up.
“This meeting is so boring. Eileen Young has waited too long.”
As he spoke, Eileen Young-ae, who came forward as if she had waited for this moment, took his hand and shook her dazzling blonde hair with a smile on her face.
“Your Royal Highness is right. You don’t have to avoid the bandits. They have to be the ones to get away.”
“Did you hear that, Stiana? Now you know what to do. If you know, hurry up and get ready to leave.”
“Your Royal Highness, but it matters. You’ll suffer a great deal of damage. It’s not cowardly to take a detour at times like this. You have to make a reasonable decision. Those who would scoff at us as cowards because we decided to bypass will be those who want us to die. Don’t give them what they want. Your Highness.”
If that was my own problem, I would have been able to bend over.
But if I did not break his will, the prince’s orders that would be given, then my men who would be pulled into the operation with me would not be able to guarantee their lives.
Eileen Young-ae shouted furiously as soon as my words were over.
“That’s very strange. Captain Stiana. Are you saying that because I want all the Royal Knights to die?”
‘That’s right. Eileen Young-ae That’s what it means that you are the one who makes the Prince impulsive.’
But that couldn’t have been said.
The prince consoled her.
“Don’t be angry. Eileen Young. She’ll listen to me. And I will destroy the bandits that the people fear. Stiana has never once let me down. You’ll know why she’s called the best prosecutor on the continent.”
“It’s okay to be proud of her in front of me. If you look away, your Majesty the Prince doesn’t even notice. What kind of woman would you like to say that to?”
Eileen blushed angrily and poured out her complaints out rudely.
Nevertheless, instead of blaming her, the prince smiled apologetically and tried to appease her.
“Don’t hurt my heart with words like that knowing I didn’t mean it. Eileen, Stiana is the best prosecutor, but she doesn’t look like a woman to me. Stiana simply exists to save my life by throwing herself at a flying sword that comes my way.”
“That’s right, Your Highness the Prince. But I felt bad because she kept crawling about without knowing the topic. You act like you’re something big. How dare a person who only needs to fulfill their orders and sacrifice their life to Royalty question orders? How ridiculous you must have been to him.”
“You don’t have to worry about that. Stiana should be repenting by now. After a few days, there will be a lot of rumors circulating that I had led my knights to slaughter the bandits. They’re notorious bandits, so they’d be worthy of my reputation.”
He spoke as if I were not there.
The prince looked at me with an uncomfortable look.
It was because of me that caused an unnecessary disturbance. I seemed to think that.
It didn’t matter how he and Eileen Young-ae felt.
I couldn’t think of anything except that I had to change his will before his orders could be carried out.
Even if they said more to me, I could bear it.
If only I could do so and spare my men, and if only I could take back this preposterous order that would lead them all to annihilation.
When I was about to speak again, Eileen Young-ae chimed in deftly.
“That’s right, Your Highness Prince. You must shake off that bad reputation to raise your fame. If you succeed in this, people will find you even braver than the two golden wolves of the Eastern Empire.”
Eileen surely knew just how to manipulate the prince.
The same was true of how deep-rooted his inferiority he had with the twins of the Empire.
The twin princes of the Eastern Empire seemed to be about the same age as him, and seemingly caused his inferiority complex to be more stimulated.
A satisfied smile was built around the prince’s mouth when he heard Young-ae’s words.
“How long should the Kingdom of Amber stay in the continent? Why can’t Your Highness be the best Prince? How can we do less than the Eastern Empire? Now show your power. If you defeat them, everyone will look back on your achievements. And they’ll regret not recognizing you in the meantime. And I will be singing your praise, your Majesty.”
“Good. As expected, Eileen is wise. That’s what I was also thinking about. Eileen is the only one who cares about me this much.”
Eileen is saying so now, but no one has before compared the prince to them.
They were said to have been as beautiful as the light of the sun and moon from birth, and they were also known for their resourcefulness and exceptional swordsmanship.
Despite their modest age in their early twenties, their victories were numerous.
Their father, Lint Dvorjan Marinehair, was called the ruler of the North, expanding his presence throughout the continent from his teenage years, creating the Eastern Empire on his own and expanding the region year after year.
His cruel nature was so widely rumored that when he led the army, each of the provinces had lost their fighting spirit, they would come out with the key to the castle and lie on their stomach.
I thought it would be nice if I could see them someday just because the two golden wolves were behind the leap that did not know his failure.
When I heard that they had comforted their father, a mad tyrant, and saved their men’s lives, I felt ashamed for no reason.
It was because of the fact that they protected their subordinates by doing what I had wanted so much but couldn’t.
