The Only Delicacy - Chapter 29
Chapter 29
“Nnnn” Scarlet softly moaned while feeling very hot, suffocated, and cold at the same time.
She wanted to open her eyes to know what was going on and why it became so cold, but her body was too exhausted to do so. Hence, she could only slightly tremble and suffer from the excruciating headache, the painful injuries of her body, and the extreme change of temperature.
Through his supernatural powers and greatly heightened senses, Alfred immediately heard the very soft sound her bruised lips had uttered and noticed her body slightly trembling. What made him even more startled was the fact that his assignment was currently burning with high fever!
Finally coming back to his senses, Alfred abandoned the extreme anger he had for the two main culprits a second ago. No, to be more precise, he had forgotten all about it. What’s more important than his life was his assignment not dying because of him!
Yes, the lovable baby cupid was now back!
Unfortunately, no matter how much the baby cupid wanted to heal his assignment with his powers, those d*mn superiors, whose positions were even higher than the higher-ups, placed a spell on him and every cupid alive! That spell made them invisible to the naked eye. It also made them unable to even touch their assignment. Moreover, it was a spell that only accepted the use of cupid arrows and the manipulation of the weather in order to ensure the assignments’ safety.
“Yes, those d*mn superiors were not d*mn, but utterly stupid! How about if their assignments were on the verge of death? Huh?! Had they never even considered that?! How would such a st*pid spell help them in their safety? Huh?! And why the h*ll was healing magic not included in the first place?!” Alfred yelled out within the depths of his heart.
However, no matter how much he wanted to curse at them, Alfred had to let go of his anger and prioritize his assignment first. For, if he took his time, she might really die on the spot!
Thus, even though he hated owing these two b*st*rds, Alfred had no choice but to rely on them.
“Wait! Me, owing them?! Who the h*ll says I owe these bunch of brats?! No! In fact, they’re the ones who owe me! It was their fault in the first place! If they’re not the ones responsible for fixing this mess, then who exactly is responsible?!” Alfred harrumphed in his brain as he used everything within his capabilities to manipulate the weather according to his liking.
The baby cupid manipulated the rain to land away from the girl and the wind to slap their two faces to reality, thereby abruptly turning their heads towards the girl’s direction.
After feeling the slight pain coming from the abrupt force of the wind, both the twins looked towards that direction with their squinted eyes and immediately became both startled and dumbfounded!
Right then, the twins suddenly realized that they were too focused about winning against the other that they had forgotten their highest priority, which was taking care of their woman!
While they were more disappointed with themselves and were filled with more regret over their own idiocy, they immediately forgot about the huge fight taking place and ran to their beloved, who was slightly trembling while looking very pale and sickly.
Once they were one step away from her, the twins wasted no time helping her. Kevin carried her like a princess, while Kyle took off his polo shirt and wrapped it around the girl’s completely bare chest and stomach. Afterwards, Kevin immediately ran to the clinic with Kyle following behind while carrying the girl’s thrown underwear and tube bra in order to erase all the evidences.
The sight of them running through the hallway would have caught a lot of attention and would have diverted the students from the news of the incoming typhoon, but the twins ran as fast as lightning towards the clinic, leaving not even the slightest trace of shadow or sounds from their footsteps.
Before the twins and the cupid had left the rooftop, they never once noticed that a shadow was hiding and lurking behind the corner of a wall this whole time. That shadow cautiously stepped forward and intently looked to where they had left, taking note of everything that had happened before leaving on the spot.
Right exactly when the shadow had left, someone banged the door open to the rooftop.
“HA! WE’VE FINALLY-” Nene shouted her heart out, because the burden she had bottled up for several hours deserved to be set free! Sadly, once she had started, her best friend immediately covered her mouth with her hand.
“Shush, you idiot! Don’t you remember that our idols are here doing their ‘thing?!’ Do you actually want us to be discovered?!” Jojo silently screamed at her best friend with such a low IQ. They did not even know what their business was on the rooftop. Hence, it was their job to spy as loyal fans! But, everything was now ruined when she had slammed the door open!
Yes, ruined!
Jojo could only hope that their idols were too busy doing their ‘thing,’ so that they could become busy enough to be oblivious to their surroundings.
Understanding her best friend’s intelligent words, Nene acknowledged the fact that she was an idiot. Thus, she stayed behind her best friend and followed each of Jojo’s ninja moves, like walking with no sounds and using her eagle eyes to detect any sort of movement, so that she would not make any more idiotic mistakes again.
While they were highly efficient in scanning their surroundings and hiding behind every corner, Jojo wondered why their idols would do their business here in the rooftop when there was such a bad weather to even do anything here. In fact, she had noticed that nothing seemed out of the ordinary, aside from the strong wind, rain, and thunder.
“Did I miss something from my calculations?” Jojo thought while stopping her tracks, and Nene directly followed her lead.
As a matter of fact, Jojo had never once been wrong whenever it came to her sixth sense. She was well-known for being deadly accurate once she put her mind to it. This explained why she always held the position of 4th place since the time she had been voted as the president of their fan base.
As if she had finally solved all the pieces of the puzzle, Jojo shouted even louder than the outrage of the storm, “Hello?!”
“Jojo! What are you-“Nene became flustered at her best friend’s idiocy that came once in a decade. Hence, she immediately used her hand to shut her best friend up, but her hand was directly swatted away like a fly to the air.
“Is anyone there?! Does anyone need help?” Jojo continued shouting while she frantically ran towards every nook and corner of the rooftop.
Finally understanding her best friend’s meaning, Nene separated ways from Jojo and shouted towards the opposite direction, “We’re here to sp- Ah! I mean save you, dear high ones! Please, show any signs that you’re alive! Or anything at all! So that we can know where you are!”
However, no matter how much they shouted or how long they ran around in circles, both women did not find anything out of the ordinary. So, they met up again in the centre of the rooftop, now drenched with rain and sweat.
“Jojo! Are you really sure they are here in the rooftop?! Is this actually your first time making a stupid mistake?! Am I both your first victim and witness?! Huh?!” Nene angrily shouted towards her best friend, extremely annoyed at how she was dragged into such a mess.
Despite her best friend’s outrage, Jojo kept silent and thought deeply for the last remaining piece of the puzzle she had yet to find.
“EARTH TO JOJO! Are you even listening?!” Nene shouted her heart out again. If she kept yelling out, she was afraid that her heart might really stop beating because of too much exhaustion and usage.
“Yes. I am, Nene. Idiot.” Jojo replied in a cool and annoyed manner. This vice president of our fan base was too impatient that it could even be considered a hindrance towards their club’s efficiency! However, Jojo had no time to lecture this idiotic friend of hers.
“Stop calling me an idiot! Or I might really believe I am one!” Nene immediately lashed out towards her best friend’s frank manner of speaking, because every time her friend said that, her heart would really hurt.
“But, you are one” Jojo whispered to herself, confused towards her best friend’s way of thinking.
“What did you say?” Even though her ears were not that sharp, Nene’s sixth sense made her feel like she had heard words that she absolutely did not want to hear.
“I’m afraid” Jojo disregarded her best friend’s statement and continued while furrowing her brows downwards and looking gloomy. Yes, she had now found the last piece of the puzzle.
A piece Jojo did not like.
