The Opportunity System - Chapter 19 Doggy Hunter

“Are you okay?” After beating another scumbag, Hiro was going back home with Miwa.

“I’m fine, they didn’t do anything.”

“That’s good.” Ending his conversation with Miwa, Hiro opened the system’s HUD secretly and checked his experience bar.

‘Level 17? I leveled up two times, that Klein guy is indeed a good punching bag. Huh?’

Noticing something new in his status board, Hiro was excited, ‘This is…’

[Fire Fist]: Level 1

‘Fire… fist. This is a disappointment, I can already do this. But, if this can level up, it means that it can be even stronger, right?’

Hiro already used the ‘Fire Fist’ on two pigs, so he didn’t saw any real advance in his status.

When they were almost reaching home, Hiro said, “Miwa, I have some things to do. As your protector, I know it’s wrong leaving you alone. I will be back in two hours, okay?”

“That’s okay, I can take care of myself, I’m not a child anymore, you know?” She said in a playful tone.

“Haha, I know, I know. I’m off.” Hiro entered the forest near the road they were walking.

Hiro’s purpose in entering the forest was to hunt something to gain experience. He didn’t know if the animals here were worth killing, but he had to try. And he could test if his Fire Fist had any difference with his normal fire punch.

Right after he entered the forest he saw a tiny rodent, it should be a rat.

“Here I go!” The rat immediately saw Hiro and quickly escaped. But Hiro was currently very fast, so a mere animal couldn’t run from him.

Killing the rat, he gained only one experience point. “As I imagined, I need to kill stronger beasts.”

After two hours, Hiro killed a lot of land animals. If he could fly, the little birds wouldn’t escape from him. But, he only killed one of a kind, if one of them would give him just one point, why should he massacre them all?

“It’s time to go back.”

He repeated this routine for one week already. Each day passed, he would stay inside the forest longer.

“I’ve tested all of them, should I go to another place to hunt?” He killed every type of animal in the forest, but none of them gave him a good amount of experience.

On the eighth day, he went to the forest outside the city.

“Now I can level up.” Hiro could feel that the atmosphere was tenser.

He still didn’t test his new move ‘Fire Fist’ in the other forest, his normal punch could do the job. Now, it was time to use it.

“I can feel it, those who live here are not just animals, they are real beasts.” Unlike the other forest, he couldn’t see any animal here, as if they were all hiding, waiting for their pray.

“This is a drastic change, the animals inside the city are most likely controlled, and here they are totally free. It is easy to see the difference in treatment that the people of the capital have.” The forest was located near the slums. Some people who live in the slum always go to the forest to hunt animals.

Walking slowly, Hiro was trying to hear or see any beast.

Suddenly, he heard people screaming. “Kill this fucking kid!”

Curious, he decided to go near. “Are they killing someone instead of an animal?”

Hiding behind a bush, he stretched his neck.

What he saw made his chin drop to the ground. Three big wolves were around a little boy. “Kill him! Let’s have a great dinner today!”

“They… they are talking…” Hiro was stunned and amazed by this, but realizing that they were going to kill the little boy, he decided to act.

“Hey, doggies, come here. Tsk tsk.”

When they heard this, the three of them stopped at the same time. Turning their heads, they saw a human. “Wait, you just said ‘tsk, tsk’ for us?”

When they looked at him, he saw that they had green eyes. With big fangs and long claws, they were indeed intimidating. “He is really talking to us?”

“I don’t think so, look at us, who would even dare to talk with us like that?”

“Right! Now, we have an even greater dinner!” The three wolves started celebrating.

Hiro was really amazed, how could a wolf talk like people?

Frowning, Hiro was prepared to fight. “What are the three doggies waiting for? Don’t you want a big human to eat?” Provoking the three wolves, Hiro was just waiting for them to distance themselves from the boy.

“Oi oi oi, he’s talking with us!”

“I still think he is not.”

“Maybe he is, I don’t know.”

At this point, Hiro was a little annoyed by their stupidity. “I’m talking to you three doggies! Yes, the three of you little doggies.” Hiro pointed at them, now they were sure he was talking to them.

“Damn it! He’s really talking with us!”

“I’ll eat your head, human!”

“Aouuuuu!”

The wolves advanced at the same time. Hiro was waiting for this, “Come on, doggies!”

But, Hiro realized one little problem, he had just two hands, and there are three enemies coming at the same time. “Damn it! I didn’t think about this!”

He didn’t have much time to think, so he had to go with a simple solution. “Eat this! Fire… Kick!”

With a kick, he swiped the wolves in one single strike.

“Hiin!”

The three doggies whined together.

Hiro didn’t stop with the kick. After they flew for a few meters, he went after them and gave another kick.

“It’s a little hard to kill them, as they can talk like people…” Killing common animals that couldn’t talk was one thing, as for killing animals that can talk like humans was a little difficult for Hiro.

“It’s like killing people. Am I going to feel guilty?” Hiro only killed irrational animals until now.

“I’m going to kill yoooou!” One of the wolves stood and went to kill Hiro.

“No, I’m not going to feel guilty. If I don’t them, they would kill me and that kid. Kill them, Hiro!” Consoling and explaining to himself, Hiro was now determined to end the job.

“Die!” Before the wolf could reach Hiro, Hiro gave his first Firs Fist right in the wolf’s snout.

The wolf’s face was disfigured, it was a gore scene. The other two wolves were burning with rage.

“Noo, brother!”

“Grrrr!”

Wolves were very united, both in familiarity and in hunting.

The two wolves were not even a bit scared, they attacked.

“Now it’s easier. Here, one hand for each of you!” Clenching both his fists, a red fire ignited in both his hands. Giving each wolf a heavy punch, they flew for a few meters before stopping.

Seeing that they weren’t moving anymore, Hiro relaxed.

Remembering that the kid was still there, Hiro turned to look.

“Huh?” Before he noticed, the boy ran. “Well, if the kid is alive, that’s good enough.”
