The Opportunity System - Chapter 5 Trap

After his first experience as a hunter, he became more and more used to it. Killing animals was not for the normal civilian, except the ones who work with it, it would be a hard thing to do.

For Hiro, after one month of killing and surviving, it became normal. If people on Earth saw him killing the poor animals without blinking an eye, they would be horrified.

As the saying goes, ‘experience sculpts a man’, he now had experience with killing. But, the most important factor was his rising in level.

After killing a few wild animals each day, he was now at level 15. At this level, the animals he killed didn’t make a difference anymore.

Of course, he just killed all of them with the Opportunity System’s help, without the system’s help, he would be already dead.

Nearing the end of the forest, the rate of appearance of animals was increasing, but their strength remained the same, so he didn’t level up anymore.

Noticing that he was near the end, he started to run.

“My freedom!”

Seeing the same scenario every day for one month was not cool. This was why he ran, he made the last effort to escape from this.

When he passed by the last dried tree, a field filled with green greeted his eyes.

The end of the forest was actually on a cliff. He saw waterfalls, birds dancing, a variety of animals living together, the landscape was like a scene from a Disn#y movie.

Looking down, he noticed that some animals were crowding in the entry of a cave.

Hiro decided to see what was going on, he wanted to rest anyway, a distraction would be good.

Assuming that those animals didn’t eat meat, he walked to them, while they ran from him.

The entry was now clear, but the only thing he saw was darkness.

“Hello?”

Even he didn’t know what he was doing, but maybe there was a rare animal here.

Without the noise of the animals, he could clearly hear something, he stopped speaking with himself and tried to hear.

‘Wuuu…’

Hearing what seemed like a cry, he said:

“Is there someone here?”

The sobbing stopped the moment Hiro asked.

“Who…who are you?”

A delicate voice answered.

‘A woman?’

“Why are you here?”

He didn’t get a response, so he tried to enter the cave.

“Don’t come here! It’s a trap!”

“A trap? How did you end up there?”

“I…was betrayed.”

After saying this, she started to cry again.

“Is there any way to let you go?”

Sobbing, she said:

“No…I will die here. Huuu…”

Hiro then decided to enter the cave. Stepping into the cave, he didn’t see anything abnormal, it seemed like an ordinary cave, the man who set the trap should be an expert.

If it was someone else, they certainly wouldn’t even try to do anything, it was a trap, after all. But, Hiro had confidence in his current power.

After one month of experience, it was not that much, his body had a drastic change. Even though he didn’t have a fitness body with bulging muscles, he could break a person’s entire body with one punch (man).

The cave was not long, he walked twenty meters, suddenly, he saw a strange barrier behind him. No one could see it from outside. The barrier was almost transparent, but one could see it’s invisible layer.

Hiro tried to touch it, but when he did it, a repulsive force was applied to his finger.

“I told you, now you will die here too.”

Looking behind him, a girl was seated with her head in her knees.

She had a long black hair, her face couldn’t be seen because of the dark environment, she was wearing a medium skirt with some light armor is her chest.

“How long have you been here?”

Hiding her head with her knees, she said:

“I don’t know, three days? It doesn’t matter, we are gonna die anyway.”

Hiro didn’t respond, he opened the bag which Raugh gave him and took a fruit.

“Are you hungry? I have something to eat, here, get some.”

Hearing the word ‘food’, the girl finally looked at him. When Hiro saw her face, his heart immediately started to beat faster.

“He-here, you can eat it.”

“Thank you.”

Giving her the fruit, he asked:

“M-my name’s Hiro, can I know your name?”

“I’m called Miwa, thank you.”

‘Miwa is a Japanese name, right? But, she doesn’t seem to be one.’

Waiting Miwa finish the fruit, Hiro stood up and said:

“Okay, Miwa, I can break this barrier, just be careful, it seems that this can repel external forces. I will try to give my strongest punch, but if it repels my punch, it could be dangerous for you, so, you need to be far away from me.”

“I understand.”

Miwa was at first surprised that Hiro really went into the cave, knowing that it was a trap.

“I’m doing it, be careful.”

Hiro first tested with a weak punch, and feeling the countershock, he assumed that the repulsive force was proportional to the applied external force.

“A stronger one!”

Applying more force to the punch, the aftershock was more intense. This time, his arm trembled.

“If I punch with my full strength, I may hurt myself.”

Getting ready, the opportunity came.

‘If you hit the borders, it may break. The origin of this barrier is on the borders.’

He still didn’t know if the fixed time of thirty seconds could be changed or manipulated, so he had to wait every time.

When thirty seconds passed by, he prepared to hit with his maximum.

He first attacked the upper left side, a crack was created from the border to the center.

Doing this with all the four edges, the barrier was still standing.

But, even if it was standing, one kick was enough to break it.

With a right jab, which he learned in the movies, the barrier was totally broken. Miwa was looking with hope, and when she saw that he really broke it, she slowly got out of the cave.

“Thank you so much, I don’t know how to return this favor.”

Smiling, Hiro said:

“Nothing much, as for the favor, can you just tell me the direction of the kingdom?”

At this moment, Hiro was thinking if the smile he gave and his humility would move this lady’s heart.

He was really embarrassed, he was trying to show off with his punch testing, he didn’t know if it worked, though.

“Oh, the kingdom? We can go there, but we are far from there. I think it will take one week to reach there.”

“Yes, I know it’s far, I’ve been in this journey for one month. Like you said, it will take at least two months.”

“No, I said it will take one week.”

“We can’t fly, you know.”

“I can.”
