The Optimistic Heroes - Chapter 1 Part 5
Big G was confused.
The person lying on the bed wasn’t sleeping, his eyes were wide open. No matter where Big G went, running around looking for something to steal, the person on the bed didn’t pay any attention to him.
In the end, Big G couldn’t help but run to the bed, he really wanted to ask what was going on.
The person lying there spoke first: “Did you find anything valuable?”
Big G could only shake his head.
He sighed, “That is what I thought, I already searched for three days. I already traded my last rusty pot for a sesame cake. It would take some real skill for you to find anything.”
He wasn’t that ugly, just a little pale and emaciated. It seemed that he had been hungry for days, even his voice sounded weak.
But the bed he was sleeping one, was certainly an outstanding bed.
How could this empty house still have such a great bed? What was this person doing sleeping on this bed?
“What exactly is this place?” Big G couldn’t help but ask.
“This place, you know, is quite famous,” the person replied.
“Famous? What are you talking about?”
“Have you ever heard of Prosperity Villa? This is Prosperity Villa.”
“Prosperity Villa? This damned placed is actually called prosperity Villa?” Big G was practically yelling.
“That’s right, it’s possible for obese people to become skinny, so why couldn’t Prosperity Villa become poor, what is so amazing about that?” the person replied.
Big G: “Then, who are you? Why are you hanging around this creepy place?”
The man cleared his throat, “Where am I supposed to go, why not here? I am the seventh generation master of Prosperity Villa.”
Big G was shocked, again.
He had been staring at Big G’s sword the whole time: “Your sword actually looks pretty decent,” he suddenly said.
“Of course.”
“Looks like it’s worth quite a few silver taels.”
Big G yelled, again: “A few? What do you know? Let me tell you, I spent more than 100 silver taels on this sword.”
His eyes seemed to light up, “Go down the mountain from here, keep to the left, there is a pawnshop call Profiteers, although the pawnbroker is a bit of a crook, he knows his trade, hurry up, before he closes shop, you should be able to pawn this sword for at least 20 silver taels,” he said loudly.
Licking his lips, he kept talking: “Across from the pawnshop to the left, there is a local Canton fellow with a BBQ shop, the roast duck and crispy meat skins are amazing, and the place beside his shop has alcohol for sale. After you get the silver, buy two roast ducks, 5 pounds of meat, and 10 pounds of alcohol, hurry back, I am really hungry, and the duck doesn’t taste good cold.”
Big G just stared at this person with his eyes wide open, with a facial expression similar to how Mr. Luo used to look at him while speaking.
After a long while, he managed a reply: “You want me to pawn my sword, and bring you meat and booze with the money?”
“Ah, so you did understand,” he replied laughing.
“Do you know what I came here to do?”
“Of course, you came to rob me.”
“Since you know I am a thief, what exactly are you planning?” Big G was staring at him.
He Just laughed, “Although you are a thief, I am as poor as they come, so when a thief comes across a poor bastard, I suppose you have to admit that’s pretty unlucky.”
Watching him, Big G suddenly realized that this strange man had an adorable smile, was even a little charming.
He couldn’t help but smile himself, “Even if you were planning something funny, you should at least go pawn my sword yourself, you should go buy the alcohol and bring it to me. ”
“Look, if you want to be a good person, then it should be you who goes.”
“What about you? Are you too lazy to get up?”
He just sighed, “Think about it, if I wasn’t so lazy, how could I become so poor?”
Big G was left speechless for the third time. He had never met someone like this before, there was nothing he could do.
He ended up going to pawn his sword for meat and alcohol.
After a leg of roasted duck and some ale, he suddenly sat up, “I have been drinking your ale, but I don’t even know your name,” he asked with a smile.
“My name is Gregarious Guo, but my friends call me Big G, Gregarious and Generous they say.”
“Big G, I must say you are quite worthy of the name, you are pretty generous.”
“And you, what is your name?”
“My name is Dong King, but you can call me Dash, dash, like a rabbit escaping. ”
Big G stared at him for a while, “I think you should be called the King of Lazy,” he suddenly said laughing loudly.

Only dead people stay completely still.
Although Dash wasn’t dead, he really didn’t move that much more than a dead person.
Unless it was absolutely necessary, he didn’t move.
If he didn’t want to move, nobody could make him move.
If a bottle of oil fell over, most people would stretch out their hand and put it upright, Dash wouldn’t flinch. If a gold nugget fell from the sky, most people would go pick it up, but not Dash. Even if the most beautiful women in the whole world took off her clothes and sat in his lap, he still wouldn’t move.
But when he did move, it was astonishing. One time, he did 382 consecutive somersaults, just to make a little kid laugh whose mother had just passed away.
Another time, he ran more than 700 kilometers in two days to see a friend one last time.
His friend had already died.
One time, for three days and three nights he fought 274 bandits from four mountain pass strongholds, killing 103 of them. Just because the bandits had killed an old couple from the Zhao family, and kidnapped three of their daughters.
He had never met old Zhao or the three daughters.
If someone was bullying him, even spitting in his face, he still wouldn’t move. If you thought he was weird, well, yeah, he was a little weird.
If you called him lazy, he was quite lazy, abnormally so.
Now, unexpectedly, he had made friends with the likes of Big G. Two people like them coming together, if they weren’t considered poor then who was?
× × ×
Even though they were poor, they were happy.
Because they hadn’t wronged anyone, and they were true to themselves.
They neither complained to God or bothered others. No matter what difficulties they faced, no matter how big the setback, they would never lose their courage. They were not afraid of hardship, but knew how to experience the joy of overcoming difficulties.
Even if they encountered failure, they refused to feel down and discouraged.
They understood the true value of life, and they knew how to enjoy life.
Their lives were always full of colorful excitement. During their lives, they had many amazingly unbelievable accomplishments. You might even think they were a little foolish, a little ridiculous perhaps.
But you have to admit, the things they did, would be impossible for anyone else.
It’s not like you are capable of doing such things. So I am sure that you will enjoy their story.
