The Pearl Of Vynes - Chapter 28 Lady Moira
The orb shimmered as it hit the water, its seemingly solid surface began to melt into the water and forming a crystal colour in the water. It twisted itself against the softly running current and climbed its way out of the water and onto grassy land. Alice knelt in the grass, weeping with her hands covering her eyes as the crystal slime morphed towards her. Softly climbing up to her it latched onto her skin giving Alice a jolt of pain that briefly made her unconcious, staring down she saw now a crystal pattern decorating her palms and arms. Feeling the coolness of it was similar to a cold metal as she traced the pattern across her arms to her back and head. The pattern pulsed a rainbow colour as the necklace she wore sank into her skin and disappeared. A deep rage overcame her, the loss of Miles, the rats and most of all she needed to hurt something as much as she did. Striding over to the pipe entrance she ran her hand along the pipe surface, tearing the stone from its bearings as if it was paper torn in two. She walked along the darkness with the shimmering pattern glowing and showing her the way. She was furious and needed something to smite. The first of the unfortunate rats uttered a squeak as they exploded in a shower of blood and guts, as Alice made her way through them. She was more similar to a meat grinder as the swarm of rats began to race down the tunnels again to attack the intruder. Her body became drenched in the blood of the rats and slowly culled them all as she made her way through the pipes. The last few began to understand the terror that they faced and began to run away but Alice rushed past them at a blinding pace killing the last she could find. Panting and her vision fuzzy from the testosterone flooding through her body, this was not enough to quieten her rage. The sounds of celebration above her signalled the city was coming alive at night again. Looking around she leaped at the wall and grabbed on, her hand crushing a hand hold in for her. Leaping from wall to wall she made her way up to the upper level of the sewer, hitting the ceiling she could see a grate that showed the exit for her. The light of flaring torches sprung shadows into the sewer opening. Alice torn open the ground and slowly rose out. Rising up she looked around and saw reveries celebrating. She was standing in the middle of them and halted the crowd as they saw this woman drenched in blood and smell of the sewers rip rock with her bare hands. Staring up Alice saw a strawman slowly burning, the smell of incense overwhelming her sense of smell. The fires of the crowd’s torches and burning figure caved in towards her and she began to absorb it, burning away the blood and her clothes as onlookers looked in awe. As the last of the torches burnt out the crowd slowly began to panic, espcially as Alice made her way through throwing people out of her way still engulfed in a rage that wasn’t entirely human. People began to flee, screaming as the harbinger had come for them. Alice walked in a straight line, her thinking buzzed as the screams of panic fell on her deaf ears. A voice slowly began to resound in her mind.
“Go to the Plaza, Summon Moira and she will tell you how to get Miles back” it whispere in her mind. Alice didn’t even question it as she made her way through in a daze of fury and death. As the people ran away the streets began to quieten and the silence was deafening. Making her way down the street at a walking pace she stopped in front of a statue of a beautiful woman. She turned and faced it, a hand outstretched to touch it.
“Halt!” a voice shouted at her. Alice turned to see a large group of men in polished armour cut off the street.
“In the name of the King, You are placed under arrest for crimes against the capital” The man at the front of the small army said. The man drew his sword with a sharpening hiss and charged at her. In a mere moment, Alice jumped the distance between them and stared him in the eye. The look of fear and surprise shimmered in his eyes as she grabbed him by the helmet, denting the helmet around the holds of her fingers. She threw the man at the crowd and bowled them over onto the stone streets. Walking back over to the statue the earth began to rise around her and the statue, giving them privacy. Alice touched the base of the statue and it began to shimmer and take on human form. Lady Moira rose from the statue, her flowing dress and hair were as if she were floating in water itself.
“Hello, my child” Moira said to Alice. Alice stared at the Goddess with a lack of any care or respect.
“Miles” Alice said to the Water Goddess. Moira brought a hand to Alice’s face as Alice shed a tear, but any other emotions was unable to be shown.
for visiting.
“My poor child, oh how you have lost so much” Lady Moira said. Placing her forehead onto Alice’s the flow of memories was brought up to the surface, rushing and tearing at to the forefront of her mind.
“You must fight my child” Lady Moira’s voice echoed inside her head. As Alice began to calm all she could picture was Miles back with her, his laughs, his smile and his company. As the two woman concentrated the dust began to swirl and form at their feet. Suddenly a body began to form and it was in the shape of Miles, lying as if he was resting in peace. He suddenly gasped as life came back to his body. Coughing and spluttering broke Alice out of her revire, running over she tackled Miles to the ground sobbing and crying in his chest.
“Calm down missy, I’m still a bit sore” Miles wheezed, but still placing an arm around Alice as she let everything out.
“Weren’t we in the sewers?” Miles questioned. Alice laughed softly and looked up at his eyes.Miles watched as he noticed the pattern that was formed on her arms began to slowly retract and disappear into her back. However the spots on palm seemed to stay.
“Don’t leave again Miles, I’ll never forgive you if you do. Please don’t leave” Alice said over and over again. Looking up Miles saw Lady Moira floating gently above.
“Well it seems I am no longer needed here, go see my son in the Northen tribes. He will guide you to what you will need to know” Moira said with a smile watching the tears of joy streaming down Alice’s face.
“Thank you” Miles said as he watched the Goddess form back into the statue again.
“Dear, you’re gonna have to let go of me. I’m a bit sore at the moment” Miles said groaning as he pushed himself up.
“Also, where are you clothes?” he asked with a smile, causing Alice to give her a brief slap on his shoulder that brusied it almost instantly. Ignoring the pain, Miles could hear the shouts of soldiers all around them. Realising what might have happened, he clasped his arms around Alice.
“Hold on dear, this might be a bit rough” he warned. Suddne’y the shadows began to form around them and they sank into the ground. Alice buried her face in the chest, scared of what to see and they disappeared into the brickwork. The rock walls that surronded the statue were suddenly smashed in, a number of men in different kinds of clothing and garb walked in.
“Braves” one of them barked, “Split up and find the girl. She’s dangerous to everyone around her and use extreme caution” and the men started to split off to track down the woman who had so vividly disturbed the festivities.
