The Perfect War Story……. - Chapter 91
As soon as Sarah walked inside the living room, she kicked off her high heeled shoes and was about to go upstairs in much anger when suddenly she heard somebody’s footsteps behind her.
“Welcome home sweetie. How was your day?” Linda’s mother was standing in one corner of the living room smiling at her. She had put on white colored curlers in her hairs and a white colored face pack on her face.
Linda was startled looking at her mother’s shining face amidst the dim lights of the gigantic living room. “Mom could you please stop scaring me like that. If you have to put on a face mask, at least don’t sneak up to me like that from behind that too in these dim lights. I almost had a heart attack.”
“Oh, I am sorry my baby. I just got a call from one of the organisers of a major charity event for tomorrow. I almost freaked out, as I did not have much time to go to the parlour. It is a famous event you see, so I have to look my best. So I thought of doing all this at home itself. Some of my dresses that I ordered will arrive tomorrow morning, so I do not have to worry about what to wear.” The lady patted her face mask, checking how much it had dried.
Linda yawned a bit not clearly interested in her mother’s page three events. “Alright mom, you enjoy. I have got a case to study for tomorrow’s meeting and then I will sleep early tonight.” She was about to go upstairs when her mother spoke again.
“So how is your boyfriend?” she gave a wide grin to the girl, her eyes shining bright in happiness.
Linda frowned at her mother’s question and turned to look at her in surprise. “Boyfriend? I have a boyfriend and I do not even know. Wow!” the girl rolled her eyes at her mother. She was already extremely confused and irritated due to Austin and she was not in a mood to listen to the same boyfriend lecture yet again.
“Oh come one! Don’t act so coy! I am your mother. I saw how Austin held you and then he kissed you so lovingly. Of course he is your boyfriend.” The lady smiled feeling proud of her daughter and her choice.
Linda was stunned for a few seconds and then slapped her hand on her forehead. “He is not my boyfriend mom. And I do not even like him at all. He is just trying to persuade me for a date and you should be happy to know that I have refused him already.” She folded her hands across her ċhėst in much frustration.
“What?? Are you mad? You just refused to go on a date with the most eligible bachelor of the entire nation? What is wrong with you?” Her mother screamed in anger looking at her.
“He is not my types mom. Don’t force me!” Linda shouted back taking deep breaths.
“So who is your type; that ex boyfriend of yours, who could not even provide you with a proper gift? He did not even have a good house or a car. Is this how you want to spend all your life?” the fat lady pointed her finger towards Linda.
“Why do I need a man to provide me all that? Am I not capable enough to do all this by myself? Am I not fulfilling all your dėsɨrės and needs? What else do you want?” Linda’s throat choked feeling bad about what her mother said. No matter how much she worked hard in life, her mother always forced her to marry a rich man. She never really saw how self independent the gir, had already become.
“You do not understand sweety. You do not need a boy who gets dependant on you. You should find yourself a man who is your strength, and who does not marry you for your wealth. You need to find somebody of your wealth and status. And Austin is the best option for you. He has the same profession and he is even more successful than you.” The lady sighed looking at her daughter’s sad face.
“Mother. I do not want to talk about it. I have a very important case lined for tomorrow and I have to prepare for its meeting. Bye.’ The girl did not let her mother speak any word further and she sprinted up the stairs feeling extremely sad and dejected.
She entered her room with a loud thud and instantly crashed on the bed, looking at her father’s pictures placed on top of the fire place. “I miss you dad. I really miss you. I wish you were here to make mom understand. She does not understand that I simply cannot marry a man wit no ethics. I cannot repeat the mistake that you have done.” A tear dropped down from her eyes and quickly got up from the bed, wiping away her tear. She switched on her phone and immediately it started buzzing with several notifications.
Amongst the notification there were several text messages from Austin too. She quickly opened her inbox reading them all.
-Are you there?
-Linda?
-Where are you?
-are you going back home?
– Linda I do not wish to disturb you but I really… Really like you. I am sure some day or the other I will be able to prove you how much my words are honest and real. Sleep well. Good night.
Linda placed aside her phone and she quickly got off from the bed and closed her door from inside. She then stripped off her dress right inside the room, throwing them on the bed and walked inside her bathroom to take a hot shower.
