The Plane Romance - 7 A Ring
“Marriage, we live by a set of vows that we can never betray.” Lilith commented.
“Until you get divorced.” Raam countered.
“Want to go Venice?” He continued.
“We just left Italy why would we so soon go back?”
“Because we have the ability to so.”
“I think I’ll stay here,”
“Maybe another time then.”
“Maybe.”
They drifted to silence before a ring was heard from Lilith’s phone.
“Hello?
Yes, this is her.
I’ll be right over.”
Having hung up she turned to Raam and said, “I got to go.” Before he could answer she was already out the main doors. Sighing he checks his phone to see the time before his next class.
“I got twenty minutes, I’ll grab a book to read.” He decided.
“What to read? What to read?” Looking through the shelves he walks up and down rows looking for any sort of title to steal his attention. He continues like this for five minutes before he sees a plain book material and a plain written title.
“Too ordinary.” He comments while taking the book, Normality, in hand. Reading the summary on the back, “We all face problems in our lives but when it came to Aster his brain worked differently. Everything he ever thought came to life in his imagination, before moving before his eyes. He was also a genius scientist, mathematician, historian, and gamer, but what he loved was writing. Being gifted with the ability to make the imagines in his head come to life he wanted to share it. He didn’t care about how he could have made millions he wanted to share his ideas.”
“How is that normal?” He wondered while finding a place to sit and read.
By the time Raam was done reading he had already forgotten about class his thoughts long since plagued by thoughts of anger and sadness. With a tightly enclosed fist he slams the arm rest, his actions driven by emotion and not rational.
“He lived his whole life in solitude, having gone past trial after trial without any sense of regret or hope. He never told a lie as there was no one to lie to. He walked step after step persevering through more in a year than most in a lifetime. We all hold a sense of fear towards death yet Aster laughed in her face. At birth he wasn’t breathing, at age seven he was skiing and broke his leg. Age 12 he broke his arm and left ribs from being hit by a car. Age 18 he was diagnosed to die at age 60 from a 1 in a ten-million disease. Yet he never shed a tear, his brain numb to the idea of despair.
Did he ever look to the sun and yell in anger and dismay? Did he beg for change and stop moving? Never and Never. He every morning would take the sun for its beauty and pray to god before every night.
At age 29 after publishing his first book, he met the girl he later wished to marry. Everything looked to change for the better.
Two years passed and with the ring in hand he fell to the ground his hand gripping his heart. With that he lost his life to a heart attack, a fate symbolic of this whole story. A man who had just gave his heart to the women he loved and was preparing for her hand in marriage he lost his life. It didn’t matter how much the world kicked and spit on him he never so much as argued back. Such an awful fate.” Raam summarized.
Putting the book back on the shelf Raam left the library and walked around the nearby forest with his phone in hand, reading the texts of himself and Lilith. The expressions of anger on his face told the whole story without reading the texts. Closing his phone, he found himself in a clearing the sun shining in his face. The view was breathtaking and scene he would later use in multiple stories. As even though the sun shined directly in his face there were flurries of snow blown with the lush grass confusing his sense of time with the feelings of both spring and winter. His phone screen flashing with texts from Miciah yet there were no sounds as the world in that moment froze in a picture.
On the back of such a photo he would write,
“Only those who are able to exist in these flawless moments are those who are able to exist owning a flawed equal.
To those flawed equals we give our rings of trust and joy.”
