The Political Marriage of the Beastman Prince and Healer Princess - CH 1
Born as a princess of the Seiran Kingdom, I, Lilith Seiran, have abilities that are different from others.
“I’ve heard that the princess doesn’t go to school, only shows up at night parties hosted by the royal family, and has been confined to the royal palace all the time because she is sickly, but isn’t she also having other big problems?”
Such rumors were whispered in social circles.
The influence of the rumors was great, and all the people who had applied for an engagement with me in the past had retracted their offers. As a result, my fiancé has not yet been decided.
I wonder if one day destiny will show up and take me out of this birdcage called the royal palace. . .
I once had a dream like that, but the reality doesn’t always go as planned. . .
I was immersed in sentiment for a while.
In order to change my mood, I decided to enjoy afternoon tea time in the garden.
Currently, spring flowers are in full bloom in this garden, which is located in the royal residence area of the royal palace.
“Today, I have prepared cherry blossom tea with the image of Princess Lilith, who has pink hair and eyes.”
A maid brews tea.
When I drank half a cup of tea while being healed by the beautifully blooming cherry blossoms, a flustered butler came to call me.
“Your Highness Lilith, the king has requested that you come to the office as soon as possible.”
When my father calls me, it’s usually because he isn’t feeling well and needs a healer.
“I’ll be right there.”
I quickly headed to the office, and when I knocked, the Prime Minister opened the door from inside.
When I entered the office, not only the Prime Minister, but also my father, my brother and my mother were there.
I was worried about my father, who was in the office, not feeling well.
However, everyone has a difficult face.
“Father, I was told to hurry, but what’s wrong?”
When he looked at me with a long sigh, I became worried about what my father would say to me.
If I’m not mistaken, it shouldn’t be known that I got my dress dirty because I was absorbed in helping the gardener, and I received permission to learn how to bake cookies from the cook in the kitchen.
As a princess, I’m regretting running around the corridors at the age of 18, but I don’t think I’ll get scolded for that. . . maybe.
I remember every action that deserves that sigh.
“. . . Lilith, it has been decided that you will marry the third prince of the neighboring Tenar Kingdom in the north. The other side says that it’s okay even if Lilith is sickly or has any other problems. Of all things, I’m very unwilling to have you marry a savage beastman, but. . . I’m sorry.”
“Eh?”
I was surprised by the content that was completely different from what I expected.
What was even more unexpected was that the Tenar Kingdom asked for a marriage of convenience.
The neighboring Tenar Kingdom in the north is an independent country established by beastmen, and it is an important trading partner that has ores that cannot be mined in the Seiran Kingdom.
However, the human side is not limited to the Seiran Kingdom, and it is common to discriminate against beastmen as savages who eat monster meat and as a lower race than humans.
But I like the beastmen’s beast ears and would even like to pet their tails if I can.
On the other hand, the beastmen have had their children kidnapped and enslaved and they shunned humans as demons wearing human skin.
Currently, slavery is prohibited in the Seiran Kingdom, but unfortunately, the incident in which young beastmen were kidnapped and enslaved in the past has not yet been resolved.
Two years ago, several beastmen appealed for the liberation of slaves and caused a riot in the royal capital of the Seiran Kingdom, the “Beastman Capital Raid Incident.”
As a result, the relationship with the Tenar Kingdom has deteriorated further.
Now, border crossings between the two nations are prohibited, and the relationship has come to a point of only importing and exporting goods at a designated place on the border.
“I always thought that the Tenar Kingdom hated humans. I don’t understand why they would want to marry me, even though I am rumored to be sick and have other problems.”
“Lilith, this is a deal, not a show of favoritism towards humans. . . .According to the Tenar Kingdom, beastmen are a race that values their families, so if we are related by blood, they promised not to use force against the Seiran Kingdom, and offered to lend a hand if there was a danger of being invaded by another country. As expected, it’s a deal that those guys whose physical abilities are like monsters would think of. It’s not at all disadvantageous to our country. It’s true, but in the end it’s a threat to take Lilith as a hostage.”
Onii-sama explained the answer to my question in a way that couldn’t hide his irritation.
“It’s clear that beastmen hate humans. I’m just worried that Lilith will be neglected over there.”
Mother held her eyebrows, while father and the Prime Minister just silently watched my reaction.
“It’s decided.” My father told me.
Until now, no one ever needed me as a fiancée.
But the Tenar Kingdom needed me, who was suspected of being sickly and having problems, even if it wasn’t my intention.
A person appeared to take me out of the birdcage of the royal palace like I had always dreamed of. Even if it’s a beastman, I’m happy.
“For the sake of peace between the two countries, I will happily get married.”
As if spreading my wings of freedom, I smiled brightly at everyone.
