The Porter is Secretly an SS-Level Hunter - Chapter 80: The Conla Clan (1)
Angel and Tessa stepped out, closing the building’s door as they blocked it. Once they turned around, they took in the hunters standing there while the Conla Clan was in front of them.
Neban took one glance at them as he heard the monsters hitting against the building’s entrance before looking back to the clan blocking them.
‘I see the Conla Clan is ready to fight.’ Siren commented.
Neban hummed, agreeing with the statement.
No one moved for a while as they stared each other down before the clan split apart, letting someone through.
Some hunters tightened their hold on their weapons, growing stiff as they watched a monster make its way to the front.
The gap closed when a monster who had a half-human, half-snake body was in the front of the group.
The top part of the body was that of a female, while the bottom half is a snake. The monster did not have anything covering their top as it was all exposed. The woman even had short hair.
There was a snake wrapped around the monster’s neck like a scarf. The snake turned towards the hunters as its tongue shot out.
The woman looked at the building, seeing how the fire was starting to spread before her eyes went towards Neban. They looked at each other before the monster began speaking.
“I sssee that you humansss are trying to take usss out. So, we decided to meet with you inssstead. Aren’t we consssiderate?”
No one answered, and the woman did not expect one. Her eyes did not leave Neban once when she snapped her fingers.
The monsters next to her rushed out, coming at the hunters. The hunters had their weapons ready, not caring that some were injured and exhausted as they swung at the monsters.
Neban put away his whip as he picked up Siren, getting ready to join the fight when a portal appeared in front of him. He was not the only one when two more appeared in front of Angel and Tessa.
The portals pulled them in as they were not able to stop out.
They appeared in a new area when the portal shot them out. Neban landed on his feet while Angel helped Tessa keep her balance.
The group looked around, seeing that they were in an abandoned area that was in ruins. ‘Did the clan leader transport us somewhere else?’ Neban asked himself.
But Siren answered anyway, knowing that the question was rhetorical, ‘Most likely.’
Angel and Tessa looked around, searching for the one who transported them into a new area. They heard a noise on their far-right. The group turned towards it as Angel yelled, “Come out!”
The woman with the half-snake body came out of the shadows as she slithered forward. “You three humansss will be fun to play with, essspecially the one with Mother’sss weapon.”
She snapped her fingers like she did last time as snakes, as big as Drus, came out of the ground. There were three of them as they faced them.
“My children, go have fun.” The woman laughed as she moved back into the shadows.
The snakes rushed towards them, pushing them into different directions from each other.
Neban had put Siren forward, blocking the monster’s mouth from biting him as the thing pushed him into a broken-down building.
He stuck his feet into the ground, stopping the thing from moving him back any further. Once they were at a standstill, Neban kicked the monster with most of his strength.
He was still feeling sluggish, but he ignored the tiredness in his bones to focus on killing the monster before him.
The monster moved back a few feet from the kick, but it did not affect it. Neban did not care because he got what he wanted: space.
He moved backward himself, looking around before quickly asking Siren, ‘Do you want to turn back into your other form for now? There is no one around.’
Siren hummed.
Neban dropped the weapon as they turned back into their human form. Once Siren was gone from his hand, instead of getting Ice Queen, he took out his whip.
A weapon already appeared in Siren’s hand when the monster opened its mouth, slithering over to them with a quick speed.
When the thing stuck out its tongue, Neban shot out his whip, wrapping it around the monster’s tongue. As it started to let out pained sounds when the tongue hit the ground, Siren attacked.
They sliced their weapon down the enormous snake’s body; Siren cursed when the cut was only shallow. They threw their sword down, “I need a stronger weapon to cut the thing.”
Neban pulled back his whip as he took out Ice Queen from his sub-space. “Here.” He threw the weapon to Siren.
They caught it.
When Siren turned towards the snake, getting ready to go for another slice, the thing went underground. “Move a bit!” Neban yelled as he threw out his whip to catch the monster by its tail.
Siren moved out the way, so the whip would not catch them too.
But before the weapon could connect, the thing slammed its tail down, causing the ground to shake temporarily.
As Neban and Siren began to stumble from the shaky ground, the monster completely went underground without a problem.
It took almost a minute when the ground stopped shaking while Neban and Siren found their balance. Neban pulled his whip back to him as they looked at the floor, wondering where the monster was.
Siren was getting ready to open their mouth when the ground broke under them, dragging them down. “Siren!” Neban called as he ran over to them.
He used [Shadow String] to catch Siren’s wrist to keep them above ground. But, before the string could connect, the floor caved in from under Neban.
Falling underground, Neban landed on rocks as dirt clung to his clothes and body. There was some dust as he coughed, clearing his lungs. A noise happened above him, causing Neban to roll away when he felt incoming danger.
A piece from the ground above fell under, almost hitting him.
Ignoring how he was almost hit, Neban stood on his feet as he looked around with another cough. ‘Siren?’ He called through the mind link.
There was no answer as he started to walk.
While looking around, Neban felt like he was back in a dungeon where some had underground caves. He could hear the sound of water dripping on a rock as he moved further in.
Once Neban came near a wide opening, he walked into the area. Only to see Siren stuck to the wall by some weird substance while the snake looked at them.
His weapon, Ice Queen, was nowhere in sight.
There were saliva and dry blood on the corner of the monster’s mouth. It looked like it wanted to taste Siren but could not since Neban melted its tongue off.
“I am going to gut you and eat you like a starved person, you stupid fucker!” Siren screamed at the monster.
The thing let out a sound, baring its teeth as it opened wide. Neban looked around until he saw a rock that was not a part of the cave. He picked it up, tossing it into the air a few times before throwing it at the enormous snake.
The snake turned towards him once it felt the rock hitting it. Its eyes contracted as it set Neban as its new prey. Neban had his whip ready to strike as he taunted, “Well, what are you waiting for?”
The monster rushed towards him as Neban struck his whip out, hitting the thing’s side. The hit did not do much damage as the snake’s skin boiled with a semi-deep wound.
It didn’t even stop the snake’s movement as it came near Neban before turning its body around, slamming its tail against his body.
Neban flew, hitting the cave’s wall as he let out a fit of coughs when he slid to the ground. His back was in pain, but he could handle it.
‘Human, you better be alive.’ Siren told him through the mind link.
Neban snorted, bringing his head up, only to see Ice Queen stuck between a crack in the wall. The said wall was behind the snake and near Siren.
The monster slithers towards Neban with accelerated speed. He dodges, dropping to the ground as he rolled away. The snake almost hit against the wall, stopping itself before turning its body.
Neban quickly took to his feet, ignoring the sharp pain that hit him as he sprinted towards his sword. The monster chased after him, noticing what Neban is trying to grab.
The monster was drawing near, so Neban hit his whip against the weird substances that held Siren.
The substance and the whip mixed weirdly with each other. The stuff started to boil and heat up, turning into a liquid. Siren fell out, hitting the ground as their body was sticky and wet.
They had a disgusted expression on their face. ‘Ignore the stuff on you and stop the monster from coming near me.’ Neban instructed.
Siren hummed as they tackled the monster, causing them to hit the ground. When they slammed the thing to the floor, the underground cave shook from the impact.
Neban kept himself from falling over due to vibration as he reached Ice Queen. He grabbed the weapon’s handle, using his whip to break the ice that surrounded the area.
Once the weapon was in his hand, he put his whip away as he turned towards the snake. He was ready to kill it and leave the underground area.
