The President’s Man - Chapter 306
The next few days passed by in a blur.
One day, after dropping off Xiao Lei at the filming site, Han Ye took a few hours off work and drove to an upscale housing area.
His goal was to look for Murong Yu.
With Lu Ziyan’s help, Han Ye managed to pinpoint the general location of where Murong Yu might be. The last couple of days, he had been sending his men out to scour the location, and based on all the intel, he believed that he might have found the right house.
Han Ye parked his car outside a house. When he got down, he saw a red dot on his shirt, right over his heart. He then looked up and saw a man with a sniper gun pointing at him from the balcony.
“My name is Han Ye. I’m here to talk to Murong Yu.”
The sniper did not say anything. However, a few seconds later, he put his gun away and jumped down from the first-floor balcony, landing perfectly cleary on the soft grass. With a stern expression, he then said, “You may come in. Boss is calling for you.”
Han Ye adjusted his clothes and prepared himself before walking into the house. He did not bring any weapons with him, but his men knew that he would be here and that some of them were stationed just right outside this neighborhood. If anything were to happen to him, his men would storm in at once.
When he walked into the house, he could hear shooting sound coming from the living room.
“Video games?” He looked at the sniper who was leading him toward Murong Yu.
“Boss has nothing much to do now.”
When they arrived in the living room, Han Ye was surprised to see how empty it was. It wasn’t empty in the same way as Head Manager Han’s suite. It was just empty of warmth, in the mental sense. The only thing that would invoke some sort of warmth was the huge picture on the wall, of two brothers, which was seemingly taken in high school.
And Han Ye could recognize from the boys’ features. “Murong Yu,” he mumbled under his breath.
“Ah! F*ck!”
The cursing voice caused Han Ye to look at the man on the couch. Han Ye was surprised to see no one else in this building other than Murong Yu and the sniper.
Murong Yu glanced over at him indifferently. “There’s no one else here in case you want to know.”
“Can’t say I’m not surprised that the house of a big boss has only one man,” Han Ye said as he stared at the man whom he had been looking for for a long time.
“I don’t need that many people around me,” Murong Yu said as he turned back to his TV. He was searching for games when he asked, “President Du’s man, what can I do for you?”
“I want you to leave Xiao Lei and Xiao Zhihao alone,” Han Ye said, right to the point. “That means no more appearing in front of them. You’re disrupting their lives.”
“I can’t. She owes me.”
“Whatever she owes you, I’ll pay for it.”
Murong Yu shot a glare at him. “Do you think you can pay for what she owes me? I want her body. Can you give me that?”
“You!” Han Ye took a step forward, but he immediately stopped when he noticed the sniper touch his gun. Han Ye quickly calmed himself down before asking, “What is it that you want for real?”
Despite his weakened body, Murong Yu still stood up and turned around to face Han Ye. “Like I just said, I want her body. And I want her heart. I want her as my wife and Zhihao as my son. Right from the beginning, they belong to me and they are mine to have!”
….
A long, long time ago,
In a small, dilapidated house,
A woman lay sprawled on an old, stained-covered couch while holding an almost empty beer bottle, and a half-n.a.k.e.d young boy was kneeling on the floor, facing the wall next to the couch.
The young boy’s back was fulled of rattan marks, and there was blood trickling out of some of the marks. He quietly wiped the tears from his face as he peeked at the woman who was still lying on the couch with her empty eyes glued to the TV.
His eyes then landed on the rattan on the floor, and he shuddered slightly.
“Xuefeng…”
The boy’s body froze up when he heard his name.
“Look at that…” His mother said while staring at the TV. “That’s your future wife…”
The boy turned to look at the TV. He knew about this show. His father would be making an appearance on it. That was why his mother did not go to sleep yet.
On the TV, there was an old man who was surrounded by many people, and in the old man’s arms was a little girl who looked to be about five or six years old. She was making faces at the cameras and being extremely cheeky.
“That’s Fan Wushuang. Remember her name and face. She’s yours.”
“Mine?” the boy mumbled in a confused tone as he watched the reporters interview the old man.
“Her grandfather said that he would marry her off to the firstborn son of the Zheng Family. That’s you, Xuefeng. Once your dad divorces that b*tch and comes and picks us up, you’d be the firstborn son, and she would be your wife. Do you want her to be your wife?”
The boy looked at the little girl. She was like a little princess as she looked around at her surroundings with her bright eyes and sunny disposition, clearly unafraid of the strangers around her, as if this was a normal occurrence for her. And based on how she was held by her grandfather and how he smiled when he talked to her, it was also clear that she was adored by her grandfather. When she smiled at the camera, Little Xuefeng felt as the pain on his body was gone and that he could look on at her for a long time. “Yeah…” he finally replied to his mother.
“You have to work hard then…” the woman said as she sat up. “No more getting Bs, not even one like today. You have to work harder than everyone else and show your father that you’re worth his attention.”
“Yes, Mother…” Little Xuefeng nodded; his eyes still on the TV as he memorized that girl’s face and etched it into his mind forever.
…
That memory surfaced on Murong Yu’s mind. The first time Xiao Lei smiled at him, he had known who she was. He did not know how she fell from grace or why she did not return to her family, but all those did not matter. In fact, it was even better that she was no longer “Fan Wushuang”. At the very least, she was in his world and he would have a chance with her.
When Xiao Lei disappeared on him, Murong Yu searched all over the country for her. He actually managed to find her after a while… But before he could do anything, he received his diagnosis. It was at an early stage then.
He always thought that it was caused by the hit to the head that his father inflicted on him when he tried to get rid of him once and for all. Regardless, he had to lay low for a while in order to get his operation done. It took him a while to get better.
But when he was finally strong enough, he found out that Xiao Lei was already married and had a toddler son. Murong Yu was furious, of course. He wanted to snatch both her and her son away from that man. However, things kept propping up one after the other. The Lion’s Herd had an internal struggle, and he had to focus all his energy on stabilizing the situation within the group, as well as getting rid of those who were trying to divide and conquer.
By the time everything was done, Xiao Yunjie had disappeared.
Murong Yu wanted to take the opportunity to appear in Xiao Lei’s life again, and he wanted to reassure her that he had forgiven her and that he just wanted to protect her and be with her. Unfortunately, just as he was driving to see her, with a bouquet of the freshest roses he could find, he fainted while driving, getting into a minor accident.
And that was when he was hit with the bad news.
His tumor was back, and it was growing rapidly.
