The President’s Man - Chapter 348
“Zhihao, you can’t be serious…” Tian Le sighed. “You’re blaming Han Ye for something like that?”
Xiao Zhihao shrugged, but he did not say anything. He knew that it was wrong of him to do so… But he needed someone to blame, and Han Ye made it easy for him to do so.
Tian Le wanted to defend his old brother, but in the end, he merely sighed and shook his head. “I’m not going to even say anything about it. You’re old enough to know whether Han Ye was at fault in this matter or not…”
Xiao Zhihao glanced at Tian Le, and after a while, he turned his gaze back onto the game catalog. “Yeah…” Of course he knew that Han Ye was not at fault… He had known it for a long time… It was just that he did not want to accept it… yet. “Sorry to make you worry…”
“Hey, we are friends, right?” Tian Le grinned. “There’s no need to be sorry. Besides, I think regarding this, you already have an answer. You’re just stubborn. Anyway,” Tian Le said as he pulled out a credit card from his pocket, “have you found anything you like? I’ll buy it for you.”
“Isn’t that his credit card?”
“He messed up,” Tian Le grinned wickedly as he said, “so he has to be punished for it.”
…
Once they were done with the game shopping spree, they walked back to the restaurant. They were chatting about random things so excitedly that they did not see the road.
“Ouch!” Xiao Zhihao cried out softly when he bumped his head against someone’s abdomen. While rubbing his head, he looked up and mumbled, “I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine, kid…” said the young man that he bumped into. He then caressed Xiao Zhihao’s head as he said, “Watch where you’re going.”
The young man then walked away, while Xiao Zhihao looked at him oddly as he rubbed his head.
“What’s wrong?” Tian Le asked.
Xiao Zhihao wanted to tell him that his head stung a little earlier when the man caressed him, but thinking that it was probably something minor, like maybe his hair got snagged on the man’s bracelet, he decided not to say anything. “Nothing, let’s go. Mum has probably eaten everything in the restaurant by now,” Xiao Zhihao said as he looked up at Tian Le with a smile.
Tian Le laughed. “You know, given the amount that your mother can eat in one sitting, you sure eat very little.”
“I’m more like my dad. Normal,” Xiao Zhihao said with a chuckle. He then put the incident away in the back of his mind and continued to walk back to the restaurant with Tian Le.
…
Meanwhile, the young man who bumped into them whistled as he walked further away, and when he was a good distance away, he called for a cab. The moment he got in and gave the driver’s the address of his destination, he then pulled out his phone and made a call.
“Ms. Fan,” the young man said with a smile. “It’s done.”
“What?”
The young man looked at the few strands of hair in his hand. “The DNA sample from that kid. I’ve got it.”
There was a short silent moment before Fan Xiyue said, “Good job. Get it tested out, along with the samples I gave you. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you to keep this low and discreet. Report it to me immediately after you got the results. Oh, no matter what the price is, I want the results by the end of today.”
She thought she could get something last night, but the man she hired was robbed. Coincidence? Fan Xiyue did not think so. At least, her guts told her that it was not a simple robbery… and her gut feeling was never wrong. Besides, the man from last night was trained in the army before, so whoever robbed him was probably someone who had some training. Otherwise, it would not be that easy for one to rob an ex-army.
She had a feeling that either Xiao Lei or Han Ye was behind it… or both, given how close they were yesterday and how Han Ye admitted to having something with his assistant.
“Yes, Ms. Fan,” said the young man before hanging up. He was surprised to receive a message from Fan Xiyue late last night, along with a picture of a teenage boy. In her message, Fan Xiyue told him to tail Xiao Zhihao and to get samples of the boy’s DNA. The young man had been wondering how to get it when his target walked out of the restaurant with another teenager, unattended.
That was when he saw an opportunity and took it. The young man chuckled as he thought about the windfall that was about to befall him. He had done work for Fan Xiyue before, mostly tailing directors and artists, and she always paid well above average.
This was the first time he was told to tail a teenage boy, but he had a feeling that this teenage boy might be worth more than those artists and directors. As the young man placed the short strands of hair onto a small plastic bag, he wondered if the teenage boy was an illegitimate child of Fan Xiyue’s husband or something. “That might be why she did not want me to talk to her husband about it…” the young man mumbled to himself.
….
Once the boys met with the a.d.u.l.ts, they decided to go for a walk. Han Ye was walking at the back with Xiao Lei, and in front of them were the boys while behind them were An Xin and Lu Ziyan.
“Psstt…” Han Ye hissed.
When Tian Le heard him, he glanced back and saw Han Ye making a signal, telling him to exchange places with Xiao Lei.
Tian Le pretended not to hear him, but when Xiao Zhihao was busy looking at the scenery, Tian Le quickly took a step back.
