The President’s Man - Chapter 362
“Milady, your food is here,” Han Ye said with a smile as he appeared with a plate filled with food. “I hope you would enjoy this selection of food.”
Xiao Lei looked up at him and chuckled. She then cleared her throat, crossed her legs, and sat up straight before replying politely, “Well, my good man, I believe in your judgment.”
Han Ye smirked. He passed her the plate before pulling a chair over to sit next to her.
They chatted with the rest and occasionally, they would play with the kids.
“How’s Yuan Yuan’s parents doing now?” Xiao Lei asked as she watched Mo Yuan and Little Monkey play with the teenagers who had finally shown up after 30 minutes. She knew a little about Mo Yuan’s past, and she was curious if his parents were doing better now.
“They are officially divorced,” Han Ye said as he placed his arm around her shoulders. When Xiao Lei unconsciously leaned back against his chest, he said, “It happened a while back…”
“Really?” Xiao Lei felt sad for the little boy. “Yuan Yuan must be very sad… The poor boy…”
Han Ye nodded. “It’s life… But Yuan Yuan is luckier than most kids. He has Jane who really loves him as if he were her own son.”
He looked at Jane and Mo Shaoyun, who were talking to the elders. Jane would occasionally look over at Mo Yuan to check on him.
“Yeah…” Xiao Lei nodded.
“And Mo Shaoyun is lucky enough to have such a kind and beautiful woman who would accept him back after what he did to her.”
“Oh?” Xiao Lei was curious. “What did he do?”
Han Ye then told her the parts of the story that he knew, from how Jane helped Kai Xin, only to be the reason why she was looked down upon by Mo Shaoyun’s parents, to how Mo Shaoyun married Mo Yuan’s mother to protect her and her child, and how all their problems started.
“Oh boy…” Xiao Lei’s eyes went wide open. “I didn’t realize that those two had such a story!”
“Every couple has their own ups and downs…” Han Ye said with a slight smile. “Like us…”
When Xiao Lei looked at him, Han Ye leaned down to give her a quick kiss on the lips. “I will give you more ups than downs, don’t worry.”
“Wait…” Xiao Lei placed a hand on her chest and pretended to be affronted. With a brow raised, she asked in a teasing manner, “You mean there’s going to be downs, Mr. Han?”
Han Ye chuckled. “I’m sure you’d find troubles with me even if I’m a perfectly good guy.”
“Hey, hey, hey, no flirting here!” a young voice suddenly said out loud.
When they heard the young voice, they turned and saw Caleb staring at them. The young boy was holding two plates with a slice of cake on each plate.
“I’m a very impressionable boy. Don’t corrupt my mind,” Caleb said with a smirk. “Mum doesn’t want me to kiss so early, so don’t tempt me! Or she’s going to come after you guys for corrupting me.”
Han Ye chuckled before waving his hand dismissively, “Go and play with the kids. Don’t look at us.”
Caleb stuck his tongue at them before running off to play with Quinn, handing her one of the plates of cakes.
After the boy left, Han Ye looked at Xiao Lei and asked, “Want to go for a walk? I think the toddlers are about to take their naps, so while they are napping, we can do something.”
Xiao Lei nodded. “What’s your plan?”
“Let’s walk around the place…” Han Ye said before standing up. He then offered his hand as he said, “Du Mansion is pretty huge, and there are a lot of things here.”
They then walked away, hand-in-hand.
…
Not long after they left, Lu Ziyan, An Xin, and An Xin’s parents arrived. Kai Xin went out to greet them before bringing them back to the garden to meet with the elders. Once they were done with paying their respects, Kai Xin brought An Xin and Lu Ziyan to meet with Old Madam Zhen.
Old Madam Zhen had been shocked when she heard the news that An Xin was divorced, and one of the reasons why she came back was also to take a look at her granddaughter.
She had been wondering why An Xin did not come and visit her the last few days, and she thought that An Xin might be too embarrassed to meet her. Old Madam Zhen would have gone to visit her youngest granddaughter if she did not come today.
She thought that her granddaughter might still be unhappy over the divorce, so she was surprised to see that An Xin had a genuine smile on her face.
“Nai Nai… This is An Xin’s boyfriend, Lu Ziyan,” Kai Xin introduced as she winked at her grandmother.
Old Madam Zhen looked at Lu Ziyan and frowned slightly. She had not met him in person before, but she knew who he was.
“Nai Nai…” An Xin said as she knelt on one knee next to her grandmother. “He has paid for his mistakes… He’s a really nice man now…”
Kai Xin nodded. “Yeah, Nai Nai… If he’s not, DX would not have allowed me to still be friends with him.”
An Xin was thankful for her half-sister’s help, and she quickly added, “Nai Nai… I really love him.”
Old Madam Zhen looked at her youngest granddaughter for a while. She then stared at Lu Ziyan, and after a while, she asked, “Are you going to treat my granddaughter properly?”
Lu Ziyan smiled and nodded. “I’ll treat her better than I treat myself.”
“You better be,” Old Madam Zhen said with a warning tone. “If you don’t… I don’t think I need to remind you what my grandson-in-law can do.”
She could not do much. An Xin was a woman now, so she should be able to make her own decision.
Upon hearing her threat, Lu Ziyan chuckled and nodded. He took An Xin’s hand and said, “I’m well aware of what President Du could do.”
He then looked at Old Madam Zhen and said, “Nai Nai… I’m not actually An Xin’s boyfriend…”
He exchanged glances with An Xin before adding, “I’m her fiance.”
“What?!” Half the a.d.u.l.ts in the garden gasped upon hearing that, causing An Xin to blush heavily.
Lu Ziyan chuckled as he lifted both their interlinked hands to show them their rings. “I proposed yesterday, and she accepted it.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Kai Xin asked Lu Ziyan with a bright smile before congratulating the two of them sincerely. She then looked at An Xin and said with a genuine smile, “I’m really happy for you.”
An Xin looked at her and smiled. “Thanks…”
The two of them might never be sisters who would tell secrets to each other, but that did not mean that they could not be genuinely happy for each other.
Kai Xin then looked at Lu Ziyan and patted him on the shoulder. “Take care of my sister. If you make her cry….”
She pointed to her husband to make the point, which only made Lu Ziyan laugh.
“I can’t promise that,” Lu Ziyan said with a smile, “but I can promise that she would only cry tears of happiness from now on.”
An Xin could merely blush and look away.
