The President’s Man - Chapter 372
Once the helicopter landed on the helipad at the only villa on the island, there were a few men who ran over and waited for Han Ye and Xiao Lei to disembark.
“Bring the luggage to my room…” Han Ye instructed the men. He then glanced at Xiao Lei’s feet and said to her, “Let’s get you changed out of those heels.”
“Great!” She agreed immediately. “These things are killing me!”
As they headed down toward the inside of the building, Han Ye asked one of the men to go ahead of them and inform the head butler that they wanted some shoes and sandals in size 6 US. After the man nodded and rushed off, Xiao Lei looked at Han Ye with a curious gaze.
“How do you know my sizes?”
“You’re only asking about that now? I’ve been buying you clothes and stuff for a while…” Han Ye retorted.
Xiao Lei shrugged. “I mean, for clothes, it’s not that hard to guess the size. But my shoe size?”
“I’m a very observant guy,” Han Ye said, giving her hand a squeeze. “In case you haven’t noticed.”
“Were you this observant before? You didn’t even know who I was for a long time,” Xiao Lei said with a smirk as she released his hand and walked ahead.
Han Ye froze for a second before continuing to walk next to her. He quickly took her hand in his again as he said with a slight frown, “Ok, in my defense, I only didn’t recognize you because I didn’t expect to see you…”
“Mmhmm…” was the only reply he got. Xiao Lei did not even look at him. She was looking around the interior design of the villa. The helipad was located at the rooftop, and they had to walk down to the terrace with a small garden on the second floor before entering into the villa from the entrance of the garden.
When she saw the interior design of the villa, even though she was completely uneducated when it came to interior design, she could still feel what the design was supposed to convey. The second floor was probably the family area. Art pieces were everywhere, but instead of the likes of Picasso and Rembrandt, the walls were covered with framed pictures of what were obviously drawn by children.
“Oh, come on! I haven’t seen you for more than a decade! And at that time, the last I saw you, you were still an undeveloped girl! How was I supposed to recognize the a.d.u.l.t you immediately?” Han Ye tried to defend himself as he slowly walked next to Xiao Lei.
“Sshh…” Xiao Lei hushed him as she read the small plaques next to each framed photo. “Lyle, age 7. Daddy.”
She raised a brow at the picture of the… stick figure with black curly hair and a red tie. She then looked at Han Ye and said, “It looks like Lyle didn’t have much of an artistic capability.”
Han Ye looked at the picture and smiled. “Yeah… Jack is the artistic one. At least, he’s the only artistic one in the Du Family so far. Maybe Wyatt would have some talent in this area as well.”
He pointed to Lyle’s photo and said, “This was the first portrait Lyle drew for President Du, so he treasured it very much.”
Xiao Lei nodded.
“Oh!” Han Ye placed his hands on Xiao Lei’s shoulders and gently pushed her to another photo near to the staircase. “This!”
Xiao Lei looked at the picture of a man lying on the couch. It looked like the kids had been receiving some lessons by now, because she could see the man’s features better, and it was no longer a stick figure.
She then looked at the plaque next to the photo and read out loud, “Jack Du and Lyle Du, age 9. Uncle Han Ye.”
Han Ye looked at them proudly and said, “That’s the first portrait they drew of me.”
“Lying on the couch?”
“Erm…” Han Ye scratched the back of his head awkwardly as he said, “I guess, back then, I was always taking naps on the couch at the Du Mansion, and that was their strongest memory of me at that time.”
“You were at Du Mansion a lot?”
“Almost every day,” Han Ye said with a sigh. “But it was fine then, since I was mostly alone. Other than the hospital, the Du Mansion and the office were where I spent most of my time. But now…”
He smiled at her and turned her around so that she was facing him. Hugging her, he placed his chin on her shoulder as he mumbled, “Now, I want to be wherever you are, and I want to spend more time with you and Zhihao, as well as the little ones that would come soon.”
Xiao Lei smiled, but she did not say anything.
“Oh yeah…” Han Ye suddenly said. “Let’s go down to the beach.”
“At this hour?”
“The view of the sky is great here… and we have the beach all to ourselves, so we don’t have to worry about anything,” Han Ye said as he led her to the living room.
“Wait, what are you hinting there? I feel like I would be in danger if I go with you…” Xiao Lei asked. She tried to appear to be afraid, but she was mostly excited about what Han Ye was hinting. Normally, she would have never entertained those kinds of talks, but here, on a private island? The thought of what they were about to do was already making her heart race.
Han Ye’s answer was just an evil smirk.
…
Once Xiao Lei changed to a comfortable pair of sandals, they went down to the beach. They strolled slowly hand-in-hand, chatting and enjoying the cool sea breeze, until they reached their destination, where a tent had been prepared for them. Not that far from the tent, a campfire had been set up, along with beanbags and a huge throw blanket, as well as an icebox filled with juices and snacks.
“A camping trip?” Xiao Lei chuckled. She then reached up to kiss Han Ye. “Oh, my adorable Han Ye…”
“Not just a camping trip… A camping trip on a private island. We don’t have to worry about others. I have told the head butler to make sure that no one comes to this area without permission. So, feel free to do whatever you want…” As he said the last sentence, he opened his arms wide, as if inviting her to ravish him however she wanted.
To his disappointment, she went to sit on the beanbag and started to roast some marshmallows.
“Oh, come on…” Han Ye sighed before sitting down next to her. “Be careful you don’t burn your tongue off…” he said when Xiao Lei put the slightly roasted marshmallows near her mouth.
Xiao Lei nodded and carefully bite into one of the marshmallows. Once it was cooled down, she pulled the marshmallow out from the metal stick.
Han Ye watched her and noticed that there was a string of melted marshmallow on her chin. With a grin, he immediately leaned forward and kissed her chin, sucking the melted string of marshmallow away.
He then looked up at Xiao Lei unapologetically. “I was hungry…”
“Make your own roasted marshmallows!” Xiao Lei growled at him as she raised her metal stick high, both to avoid Han Ye from reaching it and to avoid accidentally hurting him.
“Oh,” Han Ye laughed softly as he reached out to push the metal stick out of her hand before pulling her toward him. When she was lying on top of him, he whispered, “I’m not hungry for marshmallows…”
