The President’s Man - Chapter 374
…
Xiao Lei did not know how long she slept after Han Ye carried her back into the bedroom. She only recalled vaguely that she woke up sometime in the middle of her sleep, and when she saw him sleeping next to her, she placed a kiss on his chest before falling asleep again.
And when she truly woke up a few hours later, shivering slightly from the lack of human warmth, Han Ye was already sitting at the desk, typing away at a computer. He was wearing a pair of black joggers and a black sweater, and he had forgone his usual contact lens for a pair of black-rimmed glasses.
Unable to help herself, Xiao Lei sighed softly as she enjoyed staring at his hardworking look. Han Ye was already handsome in his usual getup, but when he was in front of the computer with such a focused expression, he looked a hundred times more handsome than usual… and it only made Xiao Lei want to corrupt him more.
Feeling a slight rumble in her stomach, Xiao Lei glanced down slightly before deciding to fully wake up. A yawn caught her as she sat up, and she quickly muffled it down with the back of her hand. She then glanced over at Han Ye, who was completely focused on doing whatever he was doing, frown included, to see if he had noticed her.
Unfortunately, his eyes were still on the computer screen.
With a sigh, she asked, “Are you working today?”
Upon hearing her voice, Han Ye immediately turned his head slightly to look at her. “Oh, Sleeping Beauty has finally decided to grace us mere mortals with her presence.”
POOF!
Han Ye deftly caught the pillow that was thrown at him before smirking at the woman who had her tongue stuck out at him. “How are you feeling today? You can still sleep if you want,” he said as he turned side to side on his chair while looking at her. It was a good thing that he put her in an oversized t-shirt… Otherwise, if she had looked at him like that while being n.a.k.e.d, he might be unable to himself back from attacking her.
She yawned softly again before toppling back down on the bed. Patting the pillow next to hers, she said in a teasing manner, “Come sleep by my side…”
Han Ye raised a brow, but it did not take him long before he quickly saved whatever he was doing and walked to him. Along the way, he took off his sweater and threw it onto the couch at the end of the bed before climbing into the bed and under the comforter.
“Can’t wait for more, Ms. Xiao?” he teased before placing a kiss on her forehead. “How’s your body feeling? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?” he asked as he hugged her. “I was kind of rough yesterday…”
Xiao Lei shook her head with a shy smile. She felt a bit sore in her private part, but otherwise, she actually felt normal. “I’m feeling quite refreshed actually,” Xiao Lei said as she looked up at him. “Were you working just now? Was it important?”
Han Ye nodded. “Just some misc work. There’s an urgent matter regarding one of the subsidiary companies under Du Corporation. Don’t worry about it. I’ve finished handling everything.”
“Ah,” Xiao Lei said in awe, “the almighty Secretary Han strikes again. You know, with your ability, President Du should make you a director or something.”
“Meh,” Han Ye shrugged and said, “I’m not interested in any other positions. Besides, I’m earning a lot more than those directors now, and I get to hang out with President Du and his family, and I’m privy to more things than those directors…”
“Your position is unusual…” Xiao Lei remarked. “I don’t think a normal secretary does anything like those you mentioned.”
Han Ye grinned smugly. “I’m not a normal secretary. Which secretary would dare to sleep with Ms. Xiao?”
“Hey!” Xiao Lei groaned and slapped his chest playfully. They then lay quietly for a while until she asked, “What are we doing later?”
“We will do whatever you want…” Han Ye said. But when he saw Xiao Lei with her eyebrow raised, he somehow regretted his words.
…
Meanwhile, back at Du Mansion, the kids were all playing at the pool. Lyle and Xiao Zhihao were lying down on the pool lounge chairs with sunglasses on while the rest of them were competing in the pool.
“Did you check your bank account? I’ve transferred the money yesterday,” Lyle asked Xiao Zhihao suddenly.
Xiao Zhihao glanced toward Lyle and nodded. “It’s a bit more than I thought.”
“We got more viewers last month than the month before. As for the second track, ‘Yun Qi’, that I just released last week had already hit a million views, and by estimation, it would hit two million views by the end of next week. You can expect more payment next month.”
Xiao Zhihao nodded. His project with Lyle had been going well, giving him an outlet for the emotions that he had been bottling up. “Yun Qi” was the song he wrote for his late best friend. It was supposed to be a happy song, but due to what happened, he changed the lyric slightly, ending the song with a sad, melancholy mood.
The twins had been helping Xiao Zhihao a lot, including piecing the instrumental part of the song and recording it.
“Oh, and someone wanted to buy the copyright of Yun Qi. It’s supposed to be part of the OST of an upcoming movie… and I’ve gone through the contract, and everything is fine. Mum helped me as well.”
“I thought we are keeping the a.d.u.l.ts out of this?” Xiao Zhihao asked, slightly surprised by the revelation that Kai Xin knew.
Lyle shrugged and replied, “She doesn’t know anything yet. I’ve removed all mentions to our project…”
Xiao Zhihao nodded.
“Oh, but one problem is that, the movie that the person wants to use Yun Qi in? That’s the movie that your mum is starring in. Are you ok with it?”
Upon hearing that, Xiao Zhihao jumped up, and there was a look of excitement on his face. “Really, Lyle?”
Lyle sat up and took off his sunglasses. He c.o.c.ked his head slightly, wondering why Xiao Zhihao would be so excited about it. He then nodded. “Yeah, and I’ve checked everything out. It’s legit. That person works for Wei Entertainment. So, how? Are you interested in it?”
Xiao Zhihao smiled, and it was obvious what he wanted, but he still said respectfully, “You’re the leader. You decide.”
“You’re the singer, and that’s your song. And I know how important that song is to you, so I would prefer to know your opinion on this,” Lyle said before turning to the pool. Once he made sure that Jack and Quinn had yet to kill each other, he turned back to look at Xiao Zhihao. “Do you need some time to think?”
Xiao Zhihao shook his head and said excitedly, “Let’s do this!”
There was no way he would miss out on this. That was his mother’s first lead role in a movie, as well as her first movie. Obviously, if he could be a part of it, he would want to be. At the moment, his identity was still a secret as Lyle had submitted the song anonymously with the name “Z”.
Xiao Zhihao was hoping that one day, he would be able to join his mother in taking back Fan Entertainment. That he would jump up and use his influence as “Z” to create a stronger claim for her. That he wouldn’t be the reason for others to use against her.
And even though he wasn’t made privy to all the plans, he had a feeling that Han Ye allowed his mother to act in the movie for a reason… and that reason was probably related to her returning to her real identity.
