The President’s Man - Chapter 384
They talked for a while more while the doctor came in to do a simple routine test on Xiao Lei. Not long after the doctor and the nurses left, Xiao Zhihao, Luo Guangying, and Callum came by to visit her.
“Mum!” Xiao Zhihao gasped when he saw his mother sitting on the bed with Han Ye beside him. He was so scared last night when An Xin woke him up. Since his mother was late, he stayed over at Han Ye’s apartment and hung out with An Xin and Lu Ziyan.
When he was sleeping in Tian Le’s room, An Xin suddenly came and knocked on the door, before telling him that his mother was in the hospital. They then rushed over, but when they arrived, Xiao Lei was still unconscious. Hence, after waiting for an hour, they went home to get a change of clothes for Xiao Lei as well as to get some rest first.
Only Han Ye remained behind as he could not bear to leave Xiao Lei’s side.
“My baby son!” Xiao Lei smiled as she reached out and hugged her son tightly. “I’m sorry if I scared you, but I’m fine now…”
Xiao Zhihao hugged his mother back as he mumbled, “You looked so bad when I saw you last night, and I thought that the babies…”
“They are fine now, aren’t they?” Xiao Lei smiled as she released her son. She then added, “You would be able to meet your little siblings soon.”
She then frowned. “Did you skip school today?”
“There’s no way he could focus with you being here,” Callum spoke up, “so I applied for a day off for him. It’s fine. I asked Tian Le to bring back the study materials for today, so don’t worry about Zhihao missing his classes.”
Xiao Zhihao nodded in agreement. “And I’m already reading in advance for most of the classes, so I would be fine.”
“You better be…” Xiao Lei sighed. She then smiled and looked at Callum and Luo Guangying. “Sorry for giving you guys such a scare. I should have been more careful.”
“No,” Luo Guangying reassured her, “you didn’t do anything wrong. No one could have predicted so many things happening to you on the same night. Han Ye told us about everything. Callum and I discussed it, and we don’t think that they are orchestrated by the same person. The kidnappers are more organized compared to the guy who tried to hurt you outside the convenience store, so–”
“I know,” Xiao Lei suddenly spoke out. “Su Wei was the one who sent his men after me.”
“Su Wei?” Callum asked, wondering who that could be. He had heard of the name before, but he could not remember who that person was exactly.
“CEO of Fan Entertainment. Fan Xiyue’s husband,” Han Ye explained. When Xiao Lei told him the name of the perpetrator earlier, he was both shocked and furious. He did not realize that Su Wei would be interested in his wife as well, or that he had been paying attention to Xiao Lei’s whereabouts.
Han Ye glanced at Xiao Zhihao, and he was about to ask the boy to leave the room when the boy gave him a defiant glance, as if he was daring him to chase him out of this room. In the end, Han Ye sighed and proceeded to explain everything that Xiao Lei told him earlier, including the threat made by Fan Xiyue’s husband.
Luo Guangying nodded as he listened to Han Ye’s explanation. After a while, he said, “Based on what happened, it seems that Su Wei has a solid confirmation on Xiao Lei and Zhihao’s identities.”
He then looked at Xiao Zhihao and asked rather brusquely, “Have you been talking to strangers, Zhihao? Is there any suspicious people around you lately?”
“Guangying,” Callum said in a soft voice as he looked at Luo Guangying. He knew why Luo Guangying lost control of his emotions, but it was unnecessary to take it out on anyone, especially not a kid.
Xiao Zhihao was a little taken aback by Luo Guangying’s strong tone, especially since he was always so gentle and soft-spoken, but before he could answer his questions, Xiao Lei shook her head. “It can’t be Zhihao. He’s either at school or at home, or out with us. And even when we are not there, there are always a lot of bodyguards watching over him.”
“There is?” Xiao Zhihao gasped, not knowing that he was being followed by people the whole time. He thought at most, he would have one or two bodyguards hiding in secret, but “a lot”? What did a lot mean?!
His expression darkened slightly when he realized that he had nearly exposed Murong Yu’s location to them. It was a good thing that he was still thinking whether or not he should visit Murong Yu, thus he had yet to make a move.
“I’m sorry, Zhihao,” Xiao Lei said apologetically as she looked at her son, “but it’s for your own protection. If my identity is leaked out, which it has, you are more vulnerable than me. You are the next rightful heir to Fan Entertainment, so people who would try to harm me would come after you first.”
Han Ye looked at Luo Guangying. “We were careful, but no matter how careful we are, we can never truly stop people from nearing Xiao Lei and Zhihao. Su Wei might have gotten to one of the kids at Zhihao’s school, or someone from Xiao Lei’s film crew could have gotten a stray strand of her hair or something. I have expected this to remain hidden forever; I just didn’t expect that the one to take action first would be Su Wei.”
Luo Guangying nodded. He then looked at Xiao Zhihao and said, “I’m sorry about my tone. I was just a little worried.”
Xiao Zhihao nodded. His darkened expression was replaced by a serious one as he looked at Guangying. “Don’t worry about it.”
He nearly lost his mother, but Luo Guangying and Callum nearly lost their unborn children, so he could understand their agitation.
“We need to be careful of this Su Wei,” Callum said as he sat on a chair next to the bed. “Should I send someone to…” He glanced at Xiao Zhihao briefly before looking at Han Ye and said, “‘Talk’ to him?”
“There’s no need,” Han Ye replied coldly. “I’ll be talking to him myself.”
