The Prince Of Magic - Chapter 124.1
[… Morning …]

*CLANG*
*SLASH*
*SLASH*
“GRAAAAH!”
The screaming roar of the last NPC beast echoed throughout the halls of the Arena that the Moon Cell had made for its owner.
“Haah… Haah… Haah…”
The lone occupant of the digitalized dungeon stared at the spot where his last opponent once stood with a slightly weary gaze.
Feeling a hint of exhaustion coming in, Hadrian closed his eyes and let his body fall backwards.
*CLANG*
*THUD*
As a result, his body hit the translucent ground with his arms and legs apart from each other.
The new weapons that he recently acquired from his grandfather fell beside him as well, but not to the point that they were out of his reach.
Hadrian was currently in one of the Moon Cell’s many Arenas. It was the same one that he and the others had used yesterday.
The only difference was that Hadrian was the only one in the Arena, while most of his retainers were on earth.
Some of his servants waiting for him outside of the Arena, by the safe room that automaton had made for Hadrian, but none of them accompanied him into the Arena. Of which Hadrian was fine with, seeing as they only consented to his request in the first place out of respect for him. Even his familiars, Ryu and Fou, stayed behind with his retainers.
The young mage needed some time alone since there were some things that he must to clarify in private.
Ever since yesterday, Hadrian had been itching to test out the Arma Sanguis.
He was even tempted to rush over to his safe house within the inner side of the moon, but was unable since his retainers (Charles and Astolfo, to be specific) had dragged him into playing games all night with them.
His retainers reasoned that, since it was his last day before he would have to depart for his new assignment, it would be better to spend his time at home than seclude himself in the workshop.
It was an acceptable reason, and so Hadrian had curbed his curiosity for the Arma Sanguis for the time being.
Once morning came, however, none could persuade Hadrian from his curiosity anymore.
And so, after joining his family and servants for breakfast, the young mage went to the Arena and trained for two hours straight.
He had ordered the automaton to spawn a horde of NPC monsters in each sections of the Arena, programming the digital dungeon to respawn the enemies once there weren’t any more for him to kill. Even the area where the Healing Fountain was located had been guarded by ten Shadow Servants, which was a bit unusual since the areas near said fountain was normally safe.
Still, Hadrian survived through the challenges and emerged victorious as a result.
The routine had went on and on, slaying NPC enemies and monsters and respawning them after, until his muscles ached and his lungs became desperate for air.
Needless to say, Hadrian went hard on his training today and he couldn’t be more satisfied with the result.
Of course, following his training routine was not his only purpose for doing it.
Hadrian had to train with the Arma Sanguis today, considering as he needed to familiarize himself in using them. It was not something he needed to do with any weapon, seeing as he was more or less adept and skilled enough to use every weapon he could come across.
The Arma Sanguis, however, were no ordinary weapons he had encountered before.
Even without his grandfather’s input, Hadrian knew that the Arma Sanguis were not normal. By the Root, he doubted that even the Noble Phantasms in the form of weapons could compare.
From the moment he laid eyes on them, the two objects emitted an eerie and extremely dangerous aura, despite their bladeless appearances.
Hadrian had even tried to have the automaton scan them, but due to their alien origins, there was not much information to be found other than them being made from the materials of Blood Beads.
Therefore, Hadrian had to improvise. And so, here he was, in the Arena, training in order to familiarize himself with the Arma Sanguis.
So far, his progress was not all that bad, despite his somewhat haggard appearance.
He had managed to materialize the blades out of the two handles in a span of three seconds, which was an improvement compared to when he had first handled them yesterday. The other thing that he had discovered was that he can change the shapes of the crystallized blood within the handles, ranging from straight swords to double-bladed axes.
Recalling what his grandfather had said to him yesterday, Hadrian knew there was more to discover in the Arma Sanguis.
It was not a simple guess, but a feeling that he had as a member of the Lucis Caelum.
Due to their past deeds, all member of the royal bloodline were known to be either adept or highly proficient in combat. Even his little sister, Astraea Lucis Caelum, who had never held a sword once or twice in her life, was no exception, despite her decision to walk the path of a healer instead of a warrior like Hadrian and most of his ancestors had done.
Weak or inexperienced, a member of the royal family would still be able to wield any weapon as if they were already a skilled warrior.
The Lucis Caelum called it the ‘Armiger’.
Along with the ability to summon phantom weapons of the previous kings and queens of Lucis, the amazing ability to wield any weapons and the superb instinct to move freely in combat regardless of one’s experience were gifts that were also passed down through his family’s bloodline and spirit.
And the warrior’s instinct within him were what told him of the Arma Sanguis’s potential.
Other than being the secret weapons to permanently kill a certain wretch, that is.
*Bzzzzt*
*Bzzzzzzzt*
*Bzzzzzzzzzzt*
The sudden vibration of his mystic code, PT (which looked like a translucent phone), snapped Hadrian out of his thoughts. Taking a deep breath, Hadrian opened his eyes as he pulled out the rude object from his pocket.
Lifting it up in front of his face, the young mage read the words on the screen and found that it was simply the alarm going off.
One chime later, the icon of a new message appeared on the top of his screen.
“Huh…” Hadrian mumbled, blinking slowly.
It was from his grandfather, who was kind enough to inform him of his schedule for the day.
Truthfully, the notice was unneeded since Hadrian only had one thing in his schedule once it was near the afternoon, and his grandfather was aware of it.
In hindsight, his grandfather was probably doing it to annoy him, but Hadrian was more amazed that the old man had texted him than to be irritated by his antics.
His grandfather would rarely ever text him, what with him being a bit behind the modern trend in technologies.
He doesn’t know why, but his grandfather prefers the old method of distant communication, such as using old telephones or sending hand-written messages through avian familiars, than what was the norm in modern times. It was only recently that the old magician learned how to use the phone that Hadrian had gifted him on the former’s last birthday, so his grandfather was still learning.
Turning off the screen, Hadrian sighed as he returned the object back into his pocket.
“Well…” Hadrian groaned, sitting up from the ground. “Might as well go back now.”
He will have time to explore more on the Arma Sanguis’ abilities, along with his new research on the first true magic.
For now, his departure to the other world awaits.
