The Prince Of Magic - Chapter 125
Somewhere far away, a pair of eyes slowly opened within a dark room.
The owner of said eyes, Hadrian, breathed out a soft sigh before he sat up from the bed he had been lying on.
One quick look of his surroundings, he noticed that he was in an unfamiliar territory.
The ceiling he was used to was not the same as before. The furniture around him and the room itself were just as unrecognizable.
The feeling he had gotten used to when at home was also absent, which caused him to deduce that he had awoken inside a room that was most certainly not he was familiar with before.
Laying a hand on his forehead, Hadrian closed his eyes as he recalled his most recent memories.
He remembered speaking to his grandfather, discussing how the old magician’s recent creation (the one that kind of looked like a transparent coffin) would carry his soul to the other dimension. He had also recalled talking to some of his retainers, whom he and his grandfather had selected specifically to accompany in the new mission.
Then, almost right after, the memories of entering the ‘Spiritron Transit’ (as his grandfather had officially named it) flooded his mind.
Hadrian spoke to his grandfather briefly once he was settled inside, and when it was time for the operation to begin, bright lights of various colors had hindered his vision before an endless void of darkness replace it. The young mage couldn’t remember anything more past that. He supposed he had blanked out almost right after it happened.
Opening his eyes, the young mage pursed his lips slightly.
Then, Hadrian glanced down at his hands, opening and closing them with an observant expression.
Before he went into the Spiritron Transit, his grandfather had given him a notice that his soul would be transferred into a different body, one of which that was already present into the current timeline of this world.
However, what the old magician had not mentioned to him was how young and weak the body is.
So far, there seemed to be no issues with the compatibility with the vessel and his spirit.
In fact, it felt as if the vessel was similar to his own back in his dimension. That’s how comfortable it was.
But then again, that just might be him quickly assuming things. This was his first time traveling into a different world and in a different body no less.
What would he know about such things when it was just his first time to undertake otherworldly stealth missions using a body that seemed to be made for him yet not really his own.
It would not be good for him to come to immediate assumptions.
He briefly checked on his magic circuits and other abilities as well, such as the Armiger Arsenal and the Gate of Babylon. He took out some items a few times through the two abilities, depositing and withdrawing them to test whether they were affected much by the transition.
Fortunately, nothing seemed to be amiss.
Except for the –
His pondering came to a sudden halt when his vision began to blur as the red lines and black spots of various sizes flashing in and out of existence.
Closing his eyes, he held his right hand to his forehead as a familiar sensation began to make itself known.
He felt something crawl through the nerves of his brain, trickling gently like water but painful enough to be felt.
Then, the headaches soon followed and it was just slow torture at that point.
The headaches, the red lines and the black spots can only mean one thing.
His mystic eyes seemed to have also been transferred over successfully, much to his consternation.
Hadrian had been hoping that it wouldn’t be the case, but perhaps it was just wishful thinking on his part.
Breathing through his nose, Hadrian had regained enough of his composure to push through the pain and headache to wordlessly summon the suppressants and his glasses, letting the two items dropped into open left hand from a small blue portal of the automaton’s bottomless spatial inventory.
The small black and blue hole in space hovered above his hand as Hadrian retrieved the items that he wanted.
The young mage put on the glasses first before opening the bottle of suppressants.
He took out two pills, popped them into his mouth and ingested them. Then, he threw the bottle black and blue hole before he dismissed it.
Relieved from the headaches, Hadrian moved to the side of the bed, letting his feet down on the carpeted floor.
Curious as to where he might be, he looked around the room, and then stood up when he found the window. He walked towards it, stopping once he was near before looking outside.
It was night time, but he didn’t let that hinder him as he observed the view outside.
From what he could tell, it seemed that the building he was in was located in a somewhat isolated area.
The lack of sounds that he would usually hear when he was inside or nearby a city was absent. Instead, the building he was in seemed to be surrounded by trees and small signs of wildlife can be heard and seen every now and then, if he focused more in his observation.
The room he was in, while unfamiliar, was spacious and well furnished, giving him the impression of the owner’s vast wealth.
The height of the room also gave him a hint that the building might be a mansion.
‘Perhaps larger than the average…’ He mused.
The feeling was solidified when he noticed the amount of golden ornaments detailed on every wall, ground, and furniture around the room, providing the objects with a fancy touch than what was necessary. Hell, even the white curtains around the bed he was in previously and the windows were fashioned with molten gold details.
Hadrian chuckled wryly, recalling the same decals that were drawn on every item back at the castle.
“I don’t know which is gaudier, the things here or back at home…” He muttered under his breath.
His inspection was interrupted when he sensed a presence nearby, closing in to the room he was inside of.
Slowly, he looked over his shoulder and stared at the entrance door across the room as the sounds of footsteps were heard.
Brows furrowing slightly, Hadrian tried to feel out the presences of the newcomers.
‘Hmm… two people are outside. Both females, but they seem familiar…’
Snapping out of his musing, Hadrian watched as the silver (which seemed to be authentic, upon a closer observation) doorknob turned and the wood pushed open.
The door opened wide and revealed someone he didn’t expect to see.
