The Pursuit Of Power - Volume 1 Chapter 71 Inhuman Recovery
After Yuuki fell asleep from his wounds, Hana was still trembling in fear. Fear for Yuuki’s injuries being severely deadly and fear for the beast in front of them not being truly dead.
Taking a few seconds, only then was Hana able to register the man wearing the Tengu Mask as having been the one who slew the Demon. Grey hair on his head suggested his age but Yuuki also had grey hair and he was not old.
“Follow me.” The man first checked Yuuki’s wounds to see that the bleeding had halted before he hoisted him up and began moving swiftly in one direction as though he knew exactly where he was going.
Hana looked at his back as she followed him silently. The man wore a cloud patterned jinbei Kimono and he wore navy colored pants along with black tabi socks and sandals.
Quickly, they arrived at a mountain. The man placed down Yuuki inside of a small wooden building which was rather warm after he told Hana to rest in the same place and abruptly leaving before returning with some medicine and bandages. Applying them rather rapidly, he inspected Yuuki’s body and stood once he was done with his gaze still on his body. It seemed he was making a decision.
Once he left the building, he went back to the village and buried all of the dead. Taking time, he prayed for their departure from the world and noted that only Yuuki and Hana had survived the Demon.
It was a rather powerful Demon and the man could tell that his arrival was at a perfect time as the Demon had just ingested rare blood. Rare blood was equivalent to eating 50 or 100 people. A demon’s strength multiplied rapidly once they were allowed time to consume Rare Blood freely. It took time for its effects to work, however. That was why his arrival was at the perfect moment.
Once he came back to the mountain the sun’s rays were coming over on the horizon. It was dawn.

Yuuki woke up and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling for a few moments before he felt the condition of his body. Luckily, nothing too major had happened and he already felt like his bones were healing in his leg while the back muscles had already started to form again.
Moving was a pain if he did not do it right and he was unable to walk so he just stayed lying in the position he was in before so as not to agitate his injuries.
Shortly after the man wearing the Tengu Mask entered, he introduced himself fully.
“My name is Urokodaki Sakonji. I was a Demon Slayer previously. Now I am a Cultivator. I teach the Breath of Water to those willing to learn it. Anyhow, that doesn’t matter too much for now. What are your names?”
“I am Yuuki Satoshi and she is Hana. Thank you for saving us.” Yuuki would have been able to use the Leviathan Dagger but if he revealed it after he sensed Sakonji arriving then he would be unable to explain himself. He sat himself up and leaned forward and bowed his head.
“Don’t aggravate your injuries!” Sakonji went behind Yuuki quickly and silently and his hands rapidly unraveled the bandages to reveal Yuuki’s half-healed muscles.
“I’ve always had a really weird body, wounds never really lasted too long and I have no scars because of it,” Yuuki explained quickly. Sakonji had confirmed Yuuki was not a Demon with his own eyes and this rate of recovery was inhuman!
‘[ Rebirth ] and [ Vitality ] are so useful right now. I’m so glad only my stats are reduced and my skills are still able to be kept.’
{Well, skills don’t override the World’s limits on the people within. All Worlds have some sort of limit on them but they vary. For example, this world restricts you from 300 in all stats to 5 in all stats. It would be a problem if you were struck down by the world, after all. The World will not allow you to start flying around like a god and smiting Demons all over the place. Skills are the abilities that you gained so they are kept as they mostly don’t affect your abilities. Your skills have changed after the removal of Mana usage.}
Yuuki listened to Hina’s long explanation and thought it made sense before he quickly focused back onto Sakonji in case he said anything.
“How long do you think you will take to heal completely?” Sakonji’s gruff voice came from behind the mask and entered his ears with all feelings of surprise removed, replaced by calmness as there were multiple abnormalities among Demon Slayers.
“At most? Three weeks. Two weeks. Maybe one and a half now that I think about it.” The numbers kept decreasing as his estimates kept changing. His tibia had fractured and that would take a normal person about three to six months to completely heal and that was for decent usage. “Don’t think that I’m a monster. I just heal very fast when I sleep. Also, do you have any food?” Yuuki said as his stomach grumbled.
After Sakonji nodded, he left the building.
Yuuki gestured Hana to come next to him as he leaned lightly against the wall.
Hugging her waist with one arm, he kissed her lips softly.
“I’ll get better, don’t worry…”
“But you still got hurt even though you were so strong.” Hana already knew of the System’s existence, Yuuki had no reason to hide it after all.
“WE were caught unprepared.” He emphasized the ‘we’. “How were we going to know that we would appear in that village with a powerful enemy right away? See, it’s fine. Besides, we can get Sakonji to teach us how to use a sword. I believe that is his intention.” Around Sakonji, Yuuki saw the aura of a calm sea which moved as he moved, it was quite visually satisfying for him to see.
“Here.” Sakonji entered and looked at the two before bringing forward two bowls that had steam coming out. Looking in, there was some tasty looking soup.
“Thanks.”
