The Queen Wicked Deeds - Chapter 68
“Anne, my dear bride, I…” Henry began to say, however, a fragile finger stopped him from saying another word. The mischievous glint of a pair of golden eyes shined with the sunrays and Henry smiled at the beautiful girl seating in his legs. Even if he was happy and a smile couldn’t help but appear on his face, he was certain that this little girl was scheming something, and was anxious about something, if not the many fruit tarts on the table wouldn’t be able to reach a record number. ‘Should I stop her from eating that much? Will she be hurt?’
“You don’t need to say anything, my dear,” Anne said in a small whisper and with a bright smile on her face, “I believe in you.”
Then, as her usual flirty nature and her shameless ways to distract innocent souls, she leaned forward and kissed his right cheek. The happiness that invaded Henry’s heart was much more than the helplessness growing in his mind. However…
“That is not… Anne, don’t you have to give me an explanation?”
The cute Anne was now making circles in Henry’s ċhėst as if she were not feeling anywhere guilty for what he made him go through. For God’s sake, she made him act like a bait for her little trap and didn’t dare to inform her.
“Anne,” Henry stopped her finger that was making him blush and stop thinking with rationality. He can’t deny he liked it very much as everything she did. However, even if he wanted to float in the strange cloud of foolish happiness with her as a couple of lovebirds and let her get away with it, this time, he wanted to know every single detail. It was not a simple issue, after all.
“That…”
“Anne?” his bright green eyes shined gently at her and his lips were already sending a kiss to her forehead. “Don’t you trust me?”
Anne’s heart was beating so hard and strong that it was difficult to breathe. “I trust you, but…”
“What?”
“Promise that you won’t get mad,” she fluttered her eyes and looked at him again. “Okay?”
“Did you make something to make me mad?”
She started making circles on his ċhėst again, that was the way the Queen had taught her to control the idiot King’s heart. Now, it was time to test it on her beloved.
“You can never be mad at me. Okay?”
Her little fingers were truly effective. She was about to thaw the common sense of the boy that was about to stop breathing, she knew that he would never be able to do anything to make her sad.
“Okay,” he said, though, she didn’t need to ask it, he could never be angry with her, no matter what she did. However, this time, well, that little statement in his heart was going to be tested.
“Then… my dear bride, you should start speaking…”
She lifted her head and kissed him on his lips. “Okay,” she smiled but then his hand covered her eyes for a moment.
“Henry?”
“Just give me a second,” Henry knew that his heart was showing right now on his face. He couldn’t believe that after so many years, she can manage to sent shivers to his spine and heat to his ears, just with a little flutter of her eyes.
He had to breathe hard and after some seconds he returned to his usual face.
“Henry? Should I start?” she smiled as she knew what kind of face he was making right now.
“Yes,” he said while looking at her cute little face with those golden eyes that he so liked so much to see and will give anything to see them every day. Even the mischievous smile and the cute dimple on the right cheek that was only for him to look and touch. “Go ahead, my bride.”
She smiled when the enchanting green eyes gazed at her with such gentleness that it was a crime.
Then just before she could be swayed away by those eyes, she looked around to see if anyone was near them, fortunately, they were alone in the garden, so she sighed a sigh of relief, after all, her next words may start a terrifying storm.
“Well then… everything started when…”
[POV: Anne’s version of the events…]
As I was saying before, everything started when I pushed the golden fish to the pond eight years ago, do you still remember? I will never be able to forget it. That Collin guy looked so drenched and speechless. Well… sigh… because of that, my mother ordered for me to be locked without food for an entire week. I don’t know how many kilos I lost that week… sigh. How terrifying. Please don’t let anyone torture me like that again, my darling.
“…”
Do you remember that we could only see each other from afar? Please don’t be so sad, my dear, I know you remember. Though Callum kidnapping you and shoving you into my room was not part of my plans, I swear, he did it because he wanted, and he was grateful to me. Not because I insinuated your name every day of my enclosure.
Well, then that week made me think deeply and meditate for a few hours every day, mostly in my bed and hugging that plush toy you gifted me on my birthday. Sigh… darling, you always know what I like the most. Though, right now, I will really like to hug you… more…
*Blushes*
Well, then everything started that week, the golden fish was thrown into the pond and at the same time, something happened. I got a clue.
You may ask what kind of hint and on what, well, I was investigating a case, a terrifying case of a ghost story. You will ask something like ‘How on earth a ghost exists in this world? Is the smartest girl in the world, and my beautiful bride going crazy? Anyway, I love her and adore her like the goddess she is.’
“…”
Well, my dear, they do exist. Some of them just need a blanket with two holes as eyes to start their journey. You can ask Victor for the details later.
Anyway, the hint about my ghost research came unexpectedly, I received a note in my pocket. A golden letter with beautifully handwritten words.
The one signing the letter only put one letter to not reveal his identity, he was a spy, and he was relying on me to help him find this ghost. Or more like, the ghost story.
Well, hehehe… only if you give me a kiss… *sound of a kiss*
*cough*
Great, you are doing great. Well, there was no much in the first letter, of course, there was no more than a few letters. He was a spy, after all, and he needed to be careful in how to reveal his info.
I don’t have the letters with me, darling. For our safety, I had to burn them down, what if someone finds them and looks for fingerprints or DNA, we can’t let that happen.
What is DNA? Oh, that… is… never mind. I will explain later.
Anyway, the content was not that important as they only had a few words, just some hints like a name, a place, a year. Even a drawing.
I started my research with Callum, of course, as my main helper.
That man was training Moira and so the two of them joined the research, so it was a good thing for Moira. They were very discreet, though.
“…”
Okay, okay, I can’t forget the time they almost burned to the ashes the tower of the kitchen staff and the kitchen on the new building and my tower’s kitchen. I punished them that time though. No one makes my dear Chef Hugo cry, or they will suffer the consequences.
Oh no, please don’t be jealous, it is just that… just that… the fruit tarts… I can’t let them suffer.
What? Why are you asking me that? Do you want me to see me cry? How can you ask me to choose between you or my fruit tarts? Of course, I will choose you covered in fruit tarts…
*blushes*
Anyway… that is not the thing, but the results of the research. It seemed that a ghost really existed. Callum found traces of him in the north.
I know you want to know the details, but… well… I guess you know what happened at my mom’s birthday that time, right?
Yes, that idiot Thomas had to… well, you know. If he were not my cousin and the elder brother of Collin, then I would already send him to Moira’s kitchen to be tortured for eternity. Muahahaha
“…”
Well, now you can figure out how to convince Thomas to spill the beans and tell me the exact location of the ghost. According to Callum’s research, Thomas knew exactly the place.
However, that boy… he had to cheat and gave us the wrong info. Do you remember?
