The Queen’s Avatar - Chapter 2 All for the Sake of the Championship
Walking out of the booth, Minhyuk looked behind him, glancing at Yerin before heading towards his team’s bench.
Along the way, Pandora’s fans erupted in cheers and applause.
He had pulled off a miracle, from an extremely dire state, on the brink of being eliminated, he had changed the game, making it a 50/50 scenario.
The ‘best’ isn’t someone who continues to win, but someone who strives for improvement.
Although he didn’t do much in the previous games of the playoffs, he had ultimately proven himself here on this stage.
“Minhyuk! Minhyuk! Minhyuk!”
Hearing his fans all around the stadium cheering for him, he couldn’t help but cry as his tears fell from his cheeks as he walked.
However, it was only just for a moment. They didn’t forget that the game still wasn’t over.
Although the match was no longer in an unfavorable situation for Pandora fans, it was still a 50/50 game.
It wasn’t over!
“Don’t worry, have a good rest.” Yerin didn’t expect the sudden burst of vitality from Minhyuk as she was still being stalled out by Heechul’s Paradise.
Originally, Yerin was planning on heading over to aid Minhyuk but she had ultimately decided to place her trust in Minhyuk. If she had went to help out, it would just turn into another 3v2 situation, it wouldn’t be any different from the situation they were in earlier.
But Minhyuk had exceeded her expectations. Although Longing Heart had fallen as well, he had executed a 1v2!
Not to mention, although Ichor thought they were stalling out Lotus, it was actually the other way around.
She was patiently waiting for the end result while pressuring Paradise at the same time, preventing Heechul from assisting Relenting Rain and Lost Vision at the same time.
Now, the stage was set for the two of them.
One Versus One.
The last to stand would be deemed victorious.
“Come, let’s play off for the victory.”
Black Lotus a blademaster, whereas Paradise was a battle mage.
Two heavily DPS classes, the result would come soon.
Both of them didn’t waste any time as they quickly entered each other’s combat range.
Black Lotus was the first one to strike, elegantly shooting out three sword lights from the tip of her blade.
Triple Slash!
Paradise didn’t stop in his movements as he dodged two of them while parrying the last one.
Heechul knew fully well that he needed to stick onto Black Lotus and couldn’t let her poke him down.
Although his weapon was a spear and was longer than a sword, swordmasters were tricky if they were given a good opportunity.
As the saying goes, ‘It was better to cover your mistakes with something than to cover it with nothing.’
Sky Strike.
This was a common ability that Battle Mages used to initiate a combo or to close in on an enemy.
The user’s weapon would first strike forward before sweeping diagonally in a slash.
Upon using the strike, Paradise beautifully created an arc that was aimed towards Black Lotus’ neck.
Upon seeing the spear being stricken at her, Black Lotus immediately took a giant leap into the air while thrusting her blade towards Paradise before slashing her blade upwards, knocking Paradise into the air.
Normally, without the usage of a terrain, Black Lotus wouldn’t have been able to jump high enough to evade Sky Strike, but because of the skill Rising Dragon Slash, she was able to gain an extra jump, allowing her to combo with her normal hop.
But Yerin didn’t stop her counter attack there.
If Yerin didn’t utilize the fact that Paradise was still stunned in mid-air, she didn’t deserve to be called a pro-player
Following up, Yerin used another high level blademaster skill.
Falling Phoenix Slash!
This was a typical combo most blademasters would do.
This skill would allow the user to slash a target in mid-air, and if used successfully, the target would be sent flying downwards extremely quickly.
Boom!
Paradise health bar plummeted below 50% as both their health bars were about even.
Heechul remained calm as he instantly did a quick-roll, allowing him to stand back on his feet before attacking once more.
Pu, Pu, Pu, Pu!
A series of short exchanges were constantly being made, as both of their health bars were dropping at about the same rate.
45%, 30%, 15%…
The fight was just about to reach its climax, they were both about to hit critical HP[1].
However, before their health had dropped below 10%, Black Lotus immediately switched the tempo of the fight as her attacks and movements were done at a much faster speed, one that nearly blinded the screen!
Yan Mo noticed this as he took a sip of his tea. He then brought out the analysis graph to show the audience the spike in Yerin’s APM[1].
Dragging it onto his screen, Yan Mo instantly choked on his tea as he spat it all out.
“T-t-this…” What was this? Yan Mo was astounded…
Someone could actually raise their APM to this extent?!?!
Her APM was over 350!
Yan Mo didn’t believe it, but the analysis was done by a computer and were generally accurate!
What Yan Mo didn’t know was that Yerin was constantly changing the tempo in her attacks.
This was a trick used to deceive the opponent, impacting a psychological effect on the player.
A player had to constantly change and keep up with the pace the other person had set if not better.
This meant that unless Heechul could increase his APM to the point where it was higher than Yerin’s, he would forever have to follow the pace Black Lotus would be at.
Sometimes Yerin would drop her APM below 200 and sometimes above 300, his hand and brain just couldn’t keep up.
Although there wasn’t much deviation in their health bars right now, the burden on Heechul was extremely significant as he was being mentally exhausted.
However, it wasn’t only hard on Heechul, Yerin was also being exhausted, her hands were practically aching right now!
But she didn’t dare lose focus, she knew she had to take the initiative at some point, after all, if Heechul were to suddenly break free from the tip of her blade, she would ultimately fall short because of the range of Paradise’s spear.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Pu, Pu, Pu!
Paradise was still able to adapt to the tempo at first, but he wasn’t able to parry everything in the end as he was stabbed a couple of times.

Just when Black Lotus was about to strike again, Paradise took an abrupt 180 spin as he ran while throwing out abilities, kiting out Black Lotus.
Kiting wasn’t a cowardly decision, but a battle tactic.
Yerin knew that if she had Black Lotus chase Paradise, she would continue to be kited, but if she didn’t chase, she was afraid that Heechul would be able to recover and take the initiative instead.
In the end, Black Lotus chased Paradise, unfortunately, it was an endless flat battlefield, there were no obstacles Yerin could use to hide behind…
Black Lotus’ health was now at 5% compared to Paradise’s 7%.
She knew that things were bad, and if she didn’t have a way to close in onto Paradise…
She would lose.
Shadow Steps!
Black Lotus’ flawlessly created 7 after-images, controlling them perfectly to the point where one couldn’t even tell which one was fake.
This was a god-like mechanical technique.
Most players could only control 4 after-images at most, and even then, there would still be mistakes in controlling them, allowing the opponent to figure out which ones were fake.
But no one could tell which one was fake in Yerin’s hands, perhaps she was the only one who could do so in Korea.
Lunge!
All seven after-images including Black Lotus immediately sped up as they charged forward with their blades aiming at Paradise.
Why hasn’t she done this technique earlier and only chose to do this now? It was because Paradise was out of stamina.
He could no longer run, but that didn’t mean Paradise couldn’t use a knock-back skill like Falling Flower Palm to regain some distance.
Summoning 7 after images allowed Black Lotus to mix in with the fake ones rendering Paradise from kiting once more.
But it was a gamble.
Just because there were 7 after-images didn’t mean Paradise couldn’t just randomly throw out an ability towards one.
If he had randomly guessed the correct one, her plans would fail and she would ultimately lose the game.
But this was the only choice!
This was Glory!
Risking everything, all for the sake of the championship.
“Come, let’s end this!” Yerin resolutely continued with her tactic. It was all or nothing…
Heechul knew this as well, silently praying that he would hit the correct one, but sometimes reality is always cruel.
Throwing out a Falling Flower Palm along with a fire chaser, Paradise had struck two of the after-images in which were both wrong.
Upon seeing this, Yerin was elated as she immediately cancelled the lunge and instead using the blademaster’s fastest skill.
Meteor Form!
Black Lotus’ blade struck out at an insane speed, one couldn’t even see the sword as it was being stabbed towards the chest of Paradise.
Heechul suddenly felt a cold chill run down his spine. He didn’t even think before having Paradise sidestep to the left.
Pu!
Although Paradise had managed to side step to the left, the blade had still struck it’s shoulders, applying an on-hit bleed effect.
Paradise’s health was now constantly ticking down. Heechul knew that things had now spiraled out of his control, he could no longer run and poke, the bleed would eventually kill him!
Decisively making his decision, Heechul pressed forward as he struck out with his spear violently.
Furious Dragon Strikes the Heart!
A level 60 skill, this allowed the user to release a spear-like bolt of lightning that pierces it’s target. Compared to the other high level skills though, it’s starting and ending lag are both considered low.
Upon seeing this skill, Yerin knew she couldn’t utilize the bleed to its maximum effect, this is where the fight would ultimately end.
This was also the most crucial moment. At this point, everything that happened previously could be neglected.
If they lost here, all the previous victories would be for naught.
It was just like ‘Winning the battle, but losing the war.’
“Come, let’s play off for the championship!” Shouting aloud, Yerin didn’t lose out in spirit as she also used a high level blademaster skill.
Sword Strike Rends the Sky!
This was a blademaster skill that gathered the surrounding sword QI around the blade before emitting out a formless pressure dealing damage while also blowing everything around the user away.
BOOM! BOOM!
Although Yerin had successfully used the skill, she wasn’t able to dodge or block the lightning bolt that Paradise had thrown out.
They both had been struck.
Because Sword Strike Rends the Sky also had a knockback effect, Paradise was sent flying backwards.
Heechul didn’t care, at this moment, he was actually elated. Yerin had made a mistake! Due to the knockback, there was significant distance between the two characters now.
As if completely natural in this situation, Paradise used the battlemage’s ultimate skill.
Rising Dragon Soars the Sky!
This was a two-stage AoE skill dealing massive physical damage which also caused an explosion that dealt magic damage along with a grab-effect. However, there was a long ending lag upon using this skill.
The user would pull back their spear and then lift it into the air, accumulating surging magic power onto it’s tip. Once the power forms a dragon, the attack would then be released and sent flying towards its target relentlessly.
I WIN, IT’S OVER!
Upon using the skill, Heechul knew that he had won, there was nothing Yerin could do!
He had jumped out of his seat upon seeing the dragon fly out.
“Fall! Die!” Clenching his fists, Heechul had typed out these words as he finally took a rest from the game.
It was all over.
The dragon raged as it soared through the air, chomping on Black Lotus’ character.
GLORY!
