The Queen’s Avatar - Chapter 4 Happy's Internet Cafe
2 years later. China, H City, Happy’s Internet Cafe
“Xuexue, come on or we’re gonna be late!” Zhifei pouted as she continued to drag Yerin by the arm.
“Zhizhi, you still haven’t told me where you’re bringing me yet! You aren’t planning on kidnapping me are you?” Yerin followed along as she lightly teased the girl in front of her.
The girl dragging her was Ran Zhifei. Shortly after receiving the opportunity to study in China, Yerin changed her name to one that was more fit to use in China, giving herself the name Xuelian which meant Snow Lotus.
After changing her name, she had accidentally bumped into Feifei at her university, thus allowing them to meet each other.
While Yerin had a hard time adapting to the new environment as she was still learning Chinese, Zhifei who spoke Korean as well, helped her alot. Soon, after living in China for 2 years, their relationship only grew closer.
“Hehe, that’s right, I am kidnapping you! To play games with me.” Zhifei was evidently used to the banter as she continued to tease back.
“Games? You still have the time to play games? Why don’t you spend more time studying, that way you can get a good job in the future.” Yerin was surprised, since when did this girl before her play games?!
This isn’t okay, she had to convince her to stop and focus on her studies instead!
“Ah? But the game is very fun and popular! I bet most of the students at our university plays it too! At least 50%! Let’s play just for a bit okay? A new server is coming online soon!” When Zhifei heard that Yerin didn’t want to play, she immediately tried to persuade her by putting on a sad pitiful face like she was about to cry.
Upon seeing tears well up in her eyes, Yerin couldn’t help but to accompany her. “Okay, okay, stop looking at me like that! You know I can’t stand seeing you cry.”
“Hehehe, let’s go!” Receiving confirmation that Yerin was going to play with her, Zhifei instantly returned to the bright cheerful girl she was, as if nothing had happened.
“You little brat…” She knew she had been tricked, but there was nothing she could now.
Letting out a sigh, Yerin had no choice but to follow her. “By the way, what is this game that could make you come out at midnight? Why couldn’t we just play in our dorms?”
“It’s so boring to play in our dorms with just us two, no excitement at all. It’s better to play in an internet cafe with more people! As for the game… of course it’s Glory!” By the time Zhifei had finished her sentence, they had already arrived before an internet cafe.
Immediately after hearing the game was Glory, Yerin couldn’t help but subconsciously stop, her heart beating faster, bringing back her most joyful yet painful memories.
….
Click click click, Tap tap tap tap
Sounds of clicks and tappings could be heard inside a dark quiet room. It was already 3 past midnight yet there was still someone inside the training room diligently practicing.
GLORY!
Not giving so much of a reaction to winning, Yerin was just about to start another match when she suddenly heard the door open.
“Yerin, why are you still up?” Although Junsu had asked the question, he wasn’t surprised, Yerin had always stayed up very late practicing and preparing for the next match.
“I was just analyzing Purple Phantasm’s match and decided to play a few rounds before I went to bed, don’t worry, I’ll go to sleep soon.”
“Yerin, the team is very grateful that you always put in extra work not just for yourself but for them as well, but they’re also worried about your health. You’re always staying up so late doing everything for the team, why don’t you get some rest? You don’t have to do this…we’re capable too! As much as we trust you, I hope you can trust us too.” Junsu couldn’t help but say aloud.
Yerin who was focused on the screen was stunned by Junsu’s statement. Turning around, she saw the determination in Junsu’s gaze as she let out a sigh. “Okay, you win. I’ll head off now, you should go to sleep too.”
“Ah? You’re going to bed just like that?” Junsu was shocked that Yerin had just yielded like that…
“Or else what? Did you expect something else?” Yerin shot a curious glance towards Junsu, why was he so weird today?!
“Ahem. Normally I would agree with you, but not today! What, did you think we forgot?” Finishing his statement, more people walked into the room, with Mingi holding a large cake.
Immediately walking in, they started singing happy birthday to Yerin bringing shock and tears of joy to her.
This was the first time someone else had wished her a happy birthday, she didn’t know what to do.
“Y-you guys…thank you.” Taking in a deep breathe, Yerin composed herself as she sincerely thanked everyone.
“Alright alright, enough with the sappy stuff, Yerin quickly make a wish! Can’t you tell I’m hungry?” Mingi quickly walked up and urged Yerin to blow on the bright candle.
“Phoo…”
Walking up, Yerin inwardly made a wish as she extinguished the bright flame. “May we be able to win the championship with everyone here.”
Minhyuk then sliced up the cake as everyone happily ate while asking Yerin curiously, “Yerin what did you wish for?”
“Hehe, I won’t tell! It’s supposed to be a secret.” She teased everyone while the rest of the members whined and started making some guesses.
At that time, when Yerin was looking at everyone who was happy and energetic, she asked herself, was this what it meant to have a family who cared for her?
“Ah! I think I got it! Knowing Yerin, she probably wished for us to win a championship together, isn’t that right?!”
“Ehhh, that’s no fun, you actually got it.”
Everyone laughed as they replied in sync as if knowing what each one of them were thinking. “Hehe, don’t worry! We will definitely fulfill this wish.”
“To be the champions!” Pandora all shouted simultaneously.
….
“-xue? Xuexue!” Yerin suddenly snapped out of her thoughts as she saw Zhifei waving her hands in front of her.
“Huh? Sorry, what’s up?” Yerin realized that she had zoned out now, letting out a sigh, she shook her head furiously as if it made her focus.
“What’s wrong? You suddenly just froze, is something the matter?” Zhifei asked in a concerned tone.
“Nothing, but do we have to play? Why don’t we study for tomorrow exams instead?” If this was in the past, Yerin would’ve jumped for joy, but now hearing the word ‘Glory’ only brought upon pain.
“No! You promised me earlier, we must play no matter what, besides we are already here!” Zhifei pointed up at the big red sign.
Happy’s Internet Cafe? Letting out a sigh, she walked in as she was greeted by the sight of numerous people and computers.
“Feifei?” Seeing the familiar figure at the counter, a woman in the mid twenties signalled them to come over with a wave.
Making their way to the woman, Zhizhi introduced her as the boss of the internet cafe, Chen Guo. Although she wasn’t very good at it, she also played Glory.
“Hey Guoguo, business seems to be very well!” Letting out a slight giggle afterwards, Zhifei introduced Yerin who was still standing next to her.
“Guoguo, this is my best friend, Ha Xuelian. She doesn’t play Glory but I’ve still brought her along with me to try it out.”
Only after hearing the introduction from Zhifei did Chen Guo realize that there was a girl standing next to them.
Turning her head she saw a tall girl cladded in a snow white dress with the hem of her black skirt folded just a bit over her knees that accentuated her curves.
Her long blue hair fell down her back, stretching down to her waist matching her pair of bright teal eyes. Her snowlike skin shined under the dim lights only making her stand out more.
Despite wearing casual clothing, it could not hide the confidence that she had while standing there, it was amazing that she had not realized the girl standing next to Feifei earlier!
For a moment, Chen Guo even lost herself staring at Yerin. There was something about Yerin that just attracted her gaze.
When Yerin looked up and their eyes clashed, it had completely mesmerized Chen Guo, even making her fluster a bit.
“ah, hello, I’m Chen Guo. Nice to meet you.”
“I’m Ha Xuelian, likewise.”
Although Yerin had replied with a few short words, her gentle and soothing voice flowed into the ears of Chen Guo as she dozed off.
“Ahem, Guoguo?” Before Zhifei could say anymore, Chen Guo dragged her by the arm to move a bit farther away from Yerin before whispering.
“Feifei! Who is she? She’s so pretty, is she a model? Judging by her last name she’s Korean right? Also, also-”
“Alright Guoguo, slow down! You’re asking so many questions at such a fast pace, my brain can’t keep up! Besides, what model? She’s my friend who attends the same university as me. I just brought her along to play some Glory.
“Oh? Are you bringing her out for the release of the 10th server?” Chen Guo wasn’t surprised, today was the start of the 10th Server and countless new people were starting up new accounts to play, hence the booming activity in the Internet Cafe.
“Yup, I already got her an account card and I figured we would start fresh.”
“Has she played Glory before? She doesn’t seem to be a gamer.” Looking at her jade figure exuding a confident yet mysterious aura, Chen Guo couldn’t help but be a little jealous.
Thinking inwardly, Zhifei couldn’t help but chuckle. “Her? It would be amazing if she even relaxed, how could Xuelian play any games?”
“No, throughout the 2 years that I knew her, she has never played games, let alone Glory. Exams are also coming out so I decided to drag her out for some relaxation.”
“Okay, I’ll get your stations set-up, today’s business is a little much so it may be hard to get you two to sit next to each other, is that fine?” Chen Guo explained while pointing to the rows of computers that were currently occupied.
There were only a couple of seats still open in the cafe! This was Glory…popular as always, especially since its creation was in China as well.
“Yeah that’s fine, we can just communicate using voice.” Although a little dejected, she understood Chen Guo’s situation.
“Okay, let’s go set-up, I’ll offer drinks for free as compensation.” Chen Guo and Zhifei walked back to the counter where Yerin was standing while on her phone.
“Xuexue, it’s all set up, we are gonna be sitting away from each other but don’t worry, we will be able to communicate through voice.”
Shortly after receiving a small nod from Yerin, Chen Guo immediately gave them back their ID’s as she told them their situation.
“I’ll head over first then.” After Chen Guo passed back her ID, Yerin went to find her computer as she looked around the cafe, quietly muttering her station aloud.
“Area 3, Number 48…”
As she was trying to find her computer station, she wasn’t aware of all the stares and whispers she had attracted.
“Woah! Look at her, she’s so pretty…”
“Ah… she has stolen my heart with just a look!”
“Is she a model? Are they filming something here?”
“She’s coming! Is she playing Glory? Perhaps I could offer some help!”

The person sitting next to him couldn’t help but sneer. “Tch, you? What tips could you possibly offer? Have you ever beaten me in a 1v1? I say, let this senior here offer some help instead, I’m much more qualified.”
Without knowing, Yerin had pretty much made most of the people in the room quarrel without knowing.
Some of the people who were brave enough even started whistling and shouting aloud, asking if she needed help or anything, some were even offering to buy her food.
To this, Yerin just looked at them and smiled, shaking her head before walking off to find her seat.
Her smile further attracted more whispers, digging them a deeper hole.
Yerin couldn’t help but ask herself inwardly. “Maybe I should of wore a mask…?”
After walking around for awhile, familiarizing herself with the Internet Cafe, Yerin finally found her station. It was actually a pretty secluded area, there were only a couple seats in the row.
Only one of them was occupied and it was the computer next to hers…
Area 3, Number 47.
Looking over, the young man could be seen playing Glory as well.
