The Queen’s Avatar - Chapter 5 Ha Xuelian, Ye Xiu
Finally taking her seat, Yerin took a look at her new account card with mixed feelings for a while, before inserting it into the login device.
It was a brand new account card that Zhifei had given her, specifically for the launch of the 10th server. Truthfully, Yerin still had her Korean Glory account card that she could easily transfer over, however she shook her head at the idea. She could deny the fact that she was Ha Yerin due to her changing names, however if she had the same avatar and equipment as Black Lotus’, her identity would definitely be leaked! An ex-pro player moving to China to play on the regular servers with new players after caught cheating in the finals…wouldn’t that be the greatest joke in the history of Glory?
Letting a sigh, Yerin finally mustered up the courage to open Glory. “Well…playing casually shouldn’t hurt, right? It’s not like they would know…”

Hovering her cursor over the 10th server, Yerin turned her head over to look at the person next to her, nearly causing her to fall off her seat. While she was coming up with a name, the person next to her was reading the tutorial…
What a diligent person! Sadly, the guide to Glory was very outdated as it had not been updated in nearly 8 years. There was almost a moment where Yerin couldn’t help but want to tell him, however, she managed to suppress herself. It had nothing to do with her anyways.
Pondering for a bit, Yerin decided to register her account as Snow Lotus, based off her Chinese name. After picking her name, Yerin couldn’t help but feel a tinge of nervousness and excitement as her character spawned into the game.
Just how long had it been since she played on the regular servers? Who knew that after 2 years, she would be dragged back into the game? Taking a deep breath, Yerin controlled her character Snow Lotus around the village, accepting and turning in quests among the hundred of players scattered around her.
Surprisingly, it nearly took an hour just to finish the beginner quests and tutorial. Although they were to help new players learn the controls and fundamentals of the games, veterans were still required to do the tedious tasks as they were playing on new accounts. There wasn’t an option to skip them, however the EXP they received were pretty satisfactory.
Upon finishing all the beginners quests and tutorials, Yerin’s avatar Snow Lotus had finally reached level 7, close to reaching level 8. By now, the stats of her character had been raised significantly due to her leveling up while also obtaining some equipment.
Equipment were separated into 5 different categories by color. From highest to lowest, they were ranked; Orange, Purple, Blue, Green and White. These items greatly enhanced a character’s stats, some even giving them special perks and abilities.
However, orange colored equipment wasn’t the best as there were still Silver colored equipment.
Silver Equipment however, isn’t apart of that category because they couldn’t be found or obtained in game. Silver Equipment were crafted by using rare materials achieved in game. Given the name “end-tier” equipment, most of the silver equipment were developed by Professional Teams. They were considered artifacts by the in-game community.
There was a quote about Silver Equipment that all players had to know.
“Although Silver Equipment weren’t necessarily the strongest, they were the most suitable. All self-made equipment were powerful.”
Each equipment would suit a specific class more so than others, some even had class restrictions on them.
In the world of Glory, there were 24 different classes split up into 6 categories; Mages, Gunners, Swordsman, Fighter, Nightwalkers and Priests. They each had their strengths and weaknesses, as classes were generally picked by each person’s play style.
Looking into her backpack, Yerin equipped the gear she had been given upon finishing the beginners quests, when she realized that she had also obtained quite a bit of skill points. Not sure if she still wanted to go down the path of a Blade Master, Yerin decided to ultimately save them for now until she reached level 20, before picking on a class.
Skill points were extremely important to one’s account, especially pro-players. In Glory, upgrading different skills require a certain amount of skill points, each skill required a different amount. As it stands, once you reach the max level which was currently 70, you could have a total of 4000 SP. However, that wasn’t the limit, it was actually 5000.
But the remaining thousand could only be acquired through luck and skill, or skill books given from certain quests.
Glancing at the time, it was only then that she realized she had completely forgotten about Zhifei! Quickly reaching for her phone, she let out a sigh of relief as there were no texts so far.
Thus Yerin took the initiative to send her one instead, “Zhizhi, where are you? I just finished the tutorials…”
Not even a minute later, she felt a small vibration from her phone before reading the text that Zhifei had sent back. “Ah! I’m currently in Twilight Village, what about you? If you’re far, we can just meetup after we hit level 20.”
“Ah…I’m all the way in Wyvern Village, a totally different peninsula.”
“Xuexue…”
Yerin couldn’t help but grin as she slowly shook her head in amusement. “It’s okay, let’s go with the original plan then, I think I can manage before 20.”
“Okay, what’s your name? I’ll add you in game first, that way if you need something, you can just ask me on there.”
Exchanging their names, Yerin added Zhifei before deciding to head start clearing dungeons, as it would speed up the progress of leveling.
That was when she noticed the man sitting next to her was trying to find a party as well, and surprisingly, they spawned in the same city! Thus she took the opportunity to invite him. Quickly sending him a friend request, she watched his screen as she saw the notification pop up almost immediately after she had hit “send.”
“You’re looking to clear a dungeon right? What about partying up with me?”
Accepting the friend request that popped up on his screen, Ye Xiu was a bit surprised as he looked at Yerin sitting next to him. Even to someone who was seen as always nonchalant, Ye Xiu couldn’t help but take a deep breath upon seeing her looks.
What was a girl of this caliber playing Glory for? She was definitely comparable to those List models.
Composing himself the best he could, Ye Xiu nodded as he introduced himself. “Hello, I’m Ye Xiu, nice to meet you, err…”
“Ha Xuelian, likewise. Do you want to invite any of your friends? If not, we can just clear the dungeons together.” Giving the same introduction she gave Chen Guo, Yerin didn’t waste any time
“Oh, just us two? You don’t want to invite other players?” Ye Xiu was perplexed, when he joined the party, he assumed that Yerin had plans to invite her friends, but it looked like she just needed someone to fill in the numbers…
To enter a dungeon, you must party up with at least one other person, however, who would do such a redundant thing? Clear a dungeon with 2 players with beginner items, if this was said, it would just be regarded as a big joke.
The only ones who could do so were pro-players! But would these god-like players come onto the regular servers to PvE? They had to prepare for their upcoming matches, so how could they waste time coming on here?
If it were anyone else, they would have immediately unfriended Yerin and left the party, but Ye Xiu didn’t mind. He was actually curious as to who Yerin was. Was she really capable or was she just messing around?
“Yeah, the less people the better. That way we don’t have to complicate things like splitting the loot and such.”
“Then how will we split the loot between us two?”
“50/50, we both pick what we need, if an item coincides with the needs of both of us, then we can just roll a die.”
Putting up an ok sign with his hand, Ye Xiu agreed as the duo both went through the village teleportation point, immediately spawning in the Eastern Wilderness.
The Eastern Wilderness was a large area that was filled with trees, mountains and lakes. It was also the area with the first major city the players could reach as there were gambling dens, markets, and auction houses.
Even so, some players were already setting up stalls trying to earn some money, whereas others were trying to recruit other people into their guild or party in hopes of expanding their power and resources early on.
The ones mainly doing so were the 4 big guilds trying to obtain first clears of the dungeons. Since the server was just released, the big guilds from previous servers were trying to be the first to clear out the dungeons, as they would be granted more loot from the mob drops. However, what they really wanted was the broadcast. The first party to clear a dungeon or hidden boss would be broadcasted throughout the whole server, like a shoutout. This was extremely important to the big guilds as they symbolized power and strength. Players would pay extreme attention to such things, and would typically join the guilds who first-clears the most dungeons.
However, Yerin and Ye Xiu didn’t care as the two of them just walked towards the nearest dungeon, Rising Phoenix Peak.
Since players were still trying to recruit players into their party, Snow Lotus and Lord Grim which was Ye Xiu’s in-game username attracted quite a bit of attention since they were directly entering the dungeon with no one else in their party.
“Hey look, aren’t they only a party of 2? Don’t tell me they’re planning on clearing the dungeon just by themselves!”
“Tch, what’s the big deal? They’re obviously new players who doesn’t know how the game works. You’ll be seeing them spawn back here soon.”
“Haha, truly a bunch of ignorant fools.”
…
Rising Phoenix Peak was a level 5 dungeon with a 2 member party restriction. The dungeon was a mountain players had to scale, although it seemed rather easy to clear, the lava randomly spilling from the top gave the new players a headache. Occasionally, there would be lava randomly spilling off the edge of the plateau that would hinder the player’s way when they were climbing. This wasn’t a big problem for veterans or pro’s, but remember this was a level 5-10 dungeon! This was a dungeon made for new players! How could these new players accomplish such a feat after playing the game for an hour or two?
Upon scaling half the mountain, you would notice a small entrance on the side of the cliff that lead to a cave inside. Once you step in the cave, the players would then have to fight a Golden Crow that burned the players continuously, unless you could engage in combat with the Crow while dodging the surrounding flames, a tank in your party would be required to wear fire resistance equipment in order to stay alive while holding aggro. Otherwise the flames would burn your health bar as you could only watch it drop.
Even then, there was still a stage two…the Rising Phoenix Peak was a dungeon with two bosses, and you had to clear both of them in order to pass!
Players would typically clear this dungeon the last as it was the hardest dungeon apart of the Eastern Wilderness, but this was also the reason Yerin picked this dungeon.
They would be the first to clear the dungeon! Better loot and a server-wide broadcast, thinking of the rewards, Yerin couldn’t help but release a grin.
“Ready?” Without hesitating, Snow Lotus quickly scaled the mountain with ease as if it was second-nature to her.
However, she nearly tumbled and fell all the way down! She had only looked down for a split second when she saw Lord Grim right on her tail! If it were anyone else, they wouldn’t be so shocked, but who was she?!
A god-tier pro…and he was someone who could keep up with her, had her skills deteriorated to such an extent only after two years?!
