The Queen’s Avatar - Chapter 6 Rising Phoenix Peak 1
Rising Phoenix Peak
On the side of a volcano, two characters swiftly leaped forward as they scaled the mountain.
“Oh? Not bad!” Although Xuelian had said this casually, she was undoubtedly shocked inside. Even if she had not played Glory for 2 years, her skill and talent was still among the best! Yet this guy was even able to take the lead at times!
There was a saying, all pro’s were competitive players. It would be a lie to say she her competitive spirit wasn’t ignited.
“Haha, only so-so. You aren’t bad yourself.” Letting out a small laugh, Ye Xiu was also secretly evaluating Xuelian. As shocked as Xuelian was, he was equally as surprised.
“How interesting!” The both of them couldn’t help but shout inwardly as their competitive spirit took over, gaining and losing the lead every second.
What was supposed to be a simple dungeon run had turned into a contest. While other players were having a difficult time clearing easier dungeons these two were having a race…if news of his were to spread, just how would they feel?
Lava and boulders continued to rain down upon them as the two side-stepped them each time.
Unfortunately, because Xuelian hadn’t touched Glory in two years, she was a bit rusty, therefore at times she had no choice but to fall back. She even used a few abilities to destroy the boulders as they fell.
Although Ye Xiu had reached the top first, Xuelian was not that far behind as the difference was only in a couple of seconds.
Losing wasn’t a problem for Xuelian, she didn’t deserve to a pro-player if she lost her composure every time she suffered a small setback.
In fact, Xuelian couldn’t help but release a small grin. Throughout the two years that she had been in China, rarely had she ever smiled this brightly. “How fun!”
Glory…was probably one of the very few things that could bring out joy in her.
After scaling the top of the mountain, Xuelian was pondering over what mistakes she had made, and how could she have done better.
To a pro, they would learn over every loss.
However, her hands had never stopped moving as the two of them quickly advanced into the cave.
Walking deeper into the cave, Fiery Boars would randomly spawn and charge towards them, to which the two of them dealt with ease.
“The Golden Crow is here.” Slicing another boar in half, Xuelian noticed the large bird engulfed in flames.
Hearing the words “Golden Crow,” Ye Xiu immediately became focused, although he was good, clearing out a boss with two players were still going to take a toll on him.
“How do you want to go about it? Shall I hold aggro and tank, or would you like to?” Ye Xiu asked shot Xuelian a pensive glance. Although he asked the question, Ye Xiu much preferred Snow Lotus to hold aggro. That way, he could cast heals freely onto Snow Lotus while actively dealing damage as well.
Because Xuelian had not placed any points into heal or cure, she couldn’t aide Lord Grim in tanking.
She knew this point as well. “I’ll tank aggro, I don’t have any skills to heal you.”
As soon as Xuelian had finished her sentence, she had her character Snow Lotus stabbed forward with the tip of his blade, releasing three sword lights in a short few seconds.
Pu pu pu
Lunging towards the Phoenix, the Golden Crow was instantly enraged. As it was hurt, the Phoenix, began roaring out before flapping its wings, sending a series of fireballs towards Snow Lotus.
Seeing that the Golden Crow had pulled back, allowing the distance to widen again, Snow Lotus immediately used guard, reducing the damage and knockback from the fireballs.
Not even having a second of rest, Xuelian immediately had Snow Lotus take a giant leap into the air before using the skill ‘Falling Light Blade.’
This was a skill that moves the user downwards while releasing a sword light. The height of the character slicing downwards also affected the damage induced.
Unfortunately, because Snow Lotus was still level 7, she couldn’t use any skills to complement the attack, thus her combo ended halted with her doing a quick-roll on the ground, allowing her to immediately climb back onto her feet.
During this time, Ye Xiu had been clearing out the boars, however upon seeing that Snow Lotus’ skills were now on cooldown, he immediately had Lord Grim cast a heal before launching an attack towards the Golden Crow.
Dragon Tooth! Gore Cross!
Lord Grim thrusted his spear forward in a straight line, that induced damage while briefly stunning the target before slicing in an X shape afterwards. Although Dragon Tooth was a battle mage move, Gore Cross was a berserker class move. It’s damage was heavily impacted on the weight of the weapon, however Lord Grim’s spear was pretty lightweight therefore not much damage was done.
However, due to the special effect, if the weapon struck the same spot twice, it would apply a bleed effect to it’s target.
Pu Pu!
Ye Xiu had done strucken the same spot with ease, surprising Xuelian. Although it seemed like a simple 1 step task, it was actually extremely demanding.

With equipment that didn’t boost attack speed or movement speed, how could someone strike a moving target at the same spot?
Not to mention one that was flying in the air!
He had to calculate the distance, angle and how fast he would fall.
Taking these factors into account and being placed on the spot, Xuelian wasn’t even sure if she could do such a feat…
Perhaps if she was in her prime, she might have been able to do so, but with the way she was now…
Suddenly, she suddenly felt a deep surge of regret…what if she had persisted?
Time was cruel, it only moved forward, leaving only feelings of regret. There was nothing she could do but look into the future.
“The future huh?” Xuelian couldn’t help but laugh at that thought. Did she have another chance?
But unbeknownst to the current her, a few years later, she would realize that opportunities would arrive soon with time.
“Hey, I can’t clear this dungeon by myself you know, or are you just gonna watch?” Hearing these words, Xuelian was dragged out of her train of thoughts, immediately launching an upward slash.
Creating a crescent arc, the sword light dazzled as the Phoenix was launched upwards.
Not giving up the opportunity of the Phoenix regaining it’s flight, Yerin shot forward with her blade seemingly as if they were one, wanting to pierce through it’s flames and flesh.
However, Yerin immediately felt something amiss and immediately cancelled her skill before using guard.
Guessing correctly, the Phoenix suddenly emitted a loud screech before exploding in flames.
The pressure had pushed Snow Lotus into the sides of the cave, before her health started plummeting.
“Not good!” Xuelian was too inexperienced, although she managed to survive by quickly adapting to the situation using her skill Guard, the Phoenix still managed to deal enough damage to where her health bar had hit critical health.
Ye Xiu upon seeing this was equally as shocked! Not only because of the explosion done by the Golden Crow, but also the micro-mechanics that Xuelian had done!
Immediately feeling that something was wrong, she had cancelled her lunge, swapped his sword and guarded against the explosion releasing a barrier of gleaming light.
This…if he hadn’t seen the girl next to her pulling it off, he would’ve thought that it was Huang Shaotian! How many people could do something like this?! But was it luck? Judging a player’s skill based off one instance was a little lackluster, no?
Still, he was amazed. This god-level micro…for a moment Ye Xiu didn’t know how to respond.
“My bad, I didn’t realize the Golden Crow had such a trick up his sleeve. Cast me some heals, we’ll continue with the same plan.” Although Xuelian was blown back and was dealt a significant amount of damage, she wasn’t too worried.
Ye Xiu’s attention was immediately grabbed back onto the situation as he casted a quick heal and cure onto Snow Lotus, bringing her health bar back to 40%.
Snow Lotus shot herself forward towards the Golden Crow like an arrow before swiftly using sword draw.
Spinning her body, Snow Lotus pierced into the body of the Golden Crow, slashing out in a circular motion unleashing a violent sword aura at a breakneck speed.
Whoosh!
Gusts of whirlwinds flew out in all directions surrounding Snow Lotus and the Golden Crow.
Reeeee! The Phoenix echoed another loud screech as if wanting to engulf Snow Lotus in his flames.
Xuelian didn’t have her character move as if she knew she was safe.
Sure enough, before the Golden Crow had a chance of retaliating, Lord Grim stabbed out with another Dragon Tooth onto the head of the Phoenix, briefly interrupting it’s attack.
“Thanks!” As if waiting for this moment, Snow Lotus and Lord Grim immediately used all their skills to initiate an onslaught of attacks onto the Golden Crow.
Facing this, even when the Golden Crow had reached critical health, there was nothing he could do…the two players had ready adapted to the rhythm of the battle, against a boss like this which followed a pattern of attacking, it was easily predictable.
Expectedly, the Golden’s Crow health bar continued to fall upon their fury of attacks.
Falling Light Blade, Lunge, Sky Strike, Heal!

However, just when the Phoenix was on it’s last stand, it then emitted a bright light once again. However, this time Snow Lotus and Lord Grim were prepared for it, retreating immediately.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Except, just when they thought they were safe, the explosion this time had affected the entire volcano!
The walls were starting to crumble, causing a violent earthquake on the volcano, causing the cave to collapse.
“Shit! What the hell was this?! Why was such a beginner dungeon filled with these dirty tricks?!” If it weren’t for the fact that they were veterans and could adapt to almost any situation, they would have been crushed!
Ye Xiu immediately told Xuelian to retreat out of the cave as he was gonna go grab the boss drops.
Although she wanted to refuse, there was almost no time to refute, thus she chose to trust her guts and immediately fled.
Lord Grim immediately dashed towards the center of the cave with the rocks in the cave starting to crumble onto Lord Grim.
Evading everything, Lord Grim’s weapon transformed into a cannon before using rapidly shooting out on the side of a cave.
By utilizing the recoil of firing the bullets, Lord Grim was able to move faster than before, as he quickly landed on the corpse of the Golden Crow. Due to the urgency of the situation, Ye Xiu didn’t even take a look at the items before picking it all up, attempting to flee for the exit.
Luckily, due to the weapon of Lord Grim, he was able to escape before the mountain collapsed.
In Glory, scenes like these were rather normal as the game was quite realistic, however, scenarios varied depending on the map, dungeon and amount of players in a dungeon.
This was the first time such an event had been triggered, perhaps it was due to the fact that it was a two person party?
There had never been an instance where two players were able to clear out a part of this dungeon, it was usually done with 5 players or more…
The moment Lord Grim stepped out of the cave onto the new flat area Glory had rendered, a loud broadcast resounded throughout the entire 10th Server.
[System Announcement; Congratulations to the party of two, Snow Lotus and Lord Grim for achieving the first kill on the ‘Golden Crow’ of Rising Phoenix Peak]
As soon as the announcement resounded, it stirred up countless conversations and feelings of every player, including Chen Guo and Ran Zhifei.
