The Queen’s Avatar - Chapter 9 "I really want to play Glory again...!"
[Congratulations for the party of 2, Snow Lotus and Lord Grim for setting the Rising Phoenix Peak record, time: 1:3:20.]
1 hour, 3 minutes and 20 seconds! Just looking at this record was a joke. What dungeon would require an hour to break? However, because this was the first time the dungeon was cleared, it was indeed the fastest record.
Upon seeing the announcements that had popped up once again, the world including the big guilds were suddenly at a loss. Perhaps the big guilds had already reported this incident to their higher-ups from the older servers, such an attraction would definitely cause a ruckus.
Besides, Xuelian and Ye Xiu knew they would cause a commotion upon clearing the dungeon. They didn’t have a choice, there wasn’t an option to hide their names upon obtaining a first kill or first clear.
Knowing this, the both of them couldn’t help but regret. If they were still pro-players, they could recommend such an idea as they had a little bit of influence, but now…they were only ordinary players. Furthermore, who would have expected that the both of them would suddenly encounter this situation! They didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“Sigh…Glory is truly different from other games, I’m so tired!” Xuelian complained aloud, asking Ye Xiu how they should confront the two big bosses.
Xuelian was obviously referring to Ran Zhifei and Chen Guo. They had already made an excuse to fool them once, but to do it a second time? They had to be considered idiots to believe them!
Ye Xiu replied worrilessly while surveying the items that dropped onto the ground. “Just use the same excuse, it doesn’t matter whether they believe us or not. It’s not like they would be able to prove anything.”
“Oh my, how shameless.” Xuelian raised her hand to cover her mouth as she let out a slight giggle.
“How could this be considered shameless? It’s strength, okay? In the world of Glory, strength rules over everything!” Ye Xiu even emphasized his words by showing a fist.
“Right right, since you’re so strong, you wouldn’t mind telling them, would you?” Xuelian immediately grasped the opportunity as she pushed all responsibilities onto Ye Xiu.
“T-this…” For the first time, Ye Xiu was stumped for words as black lines appeared on his head. She even had the guts to call him shameless! Just who exactly is the one that’s shameless?! Please…his job was on the line here!
While the two were nervously waiting for Ran Zhifei and Chen Guo to walk over, Xuelian and Ye Xiu were splitting the loot, yet even after 5 minutes, the two of them had yet to come over.
“Ah? They couldn’t have missed the announcements right?” Waiting silently had made her even more anxious, as she turned her head to see if the two girls were making their way to them.
Yet she couldn’t even catch an inkling of them.
“You’re only scaring yourself, look at the screen! There’s a bunch of rare material and loot to split.” Ye Xiu laughed at how anxious Xuelian was before shaking his head.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Xuelian knew Ye Xiu was right. “I’m only scaring myself!”
Composing herself, Xuelian focused on the equipment that was in front of her. The loot was even better than the ones she had previously received upon clearing the first boss.
Her eyes shone in adoration as she saw a beautiful pair of boots that matched her saber. Although the stats wasn’t very good, it was extremely beautiful. “I want this pair of Abyssal boots!”
She didn’t even give Ye Xiu a chance to reject her as she instantly picked it up.
“Tch, the stats on it aren’t even good, are you sure you don’t want to sell-” Before Ye Xiu even had a chance of finishing what he was going to say, Xuelian suddenly shot him a cold glare.
“You want to sell this?! Don’t you see the beauty it contains? Look, it even matches my red saber! It’s so pretty…” Equipping the pair of Abyssal Boots, Xuelian viewed her character in third-person as she couldn’t help but marvel upon the sight of her character.
She had 3 different rules for equipment; value, stats and looks. Her character had to be strong and pretty, otherwise how could she play while looking at an ugly avatar?!

Perplexed by such a strong reaction, Ye Xiu didn’t know what to say. Wasn’t it just an item? If anything, stats should be the most important value to an item! Who cared if it looked nice or not, would it help them win a fight? Encountering such a situation, Ye Xiu couldn’t help but think of Su Mucheng. Wasn’t she the same? There were countless times where Su Mucheng had pestered Ye Xiu for items that looked pretty. He wanted to cry yet no tears came out. Girls truly had a weird way of playing the game.
Waving his hand, Ye Xiu gave the item to Xuelian as the stats were truly subpar. “Take it, take it.”
The equipment wasn’t as important as rare materials were to Ye Xiu at the moment, thus he had no qualms in giving it up. “I’ll take the Fluorescent Eye’s of the Chimera then.”
Xuelian noticed that he desperately wanted the rare materials, wondering if it was because of the weapon Lord Grim held. It wasn’t like the hadn’t noticed his weapon, besides it would be weird if she didn’t! His weapon had change forms earlier which had shocked her. She had never seen a weapon like that, even back in Korea. That was when she realized that his weapon must have been self-made. Silver Equipment!
Thinking of this, she decided to give up all the rare materials to Ye Xiu. It wasn’t like she was going to continue playing Glory long term, if it was given to her, it would just sit in her inventory without much use. “You need rare materials right? Take them all, I don’t need them.”
“Oh?” Ye Xiu was wondering if there was a catch. What Glory player would reject free loot? Rare materials at that, there had to be a catch!
“I’m just playing casually for fun, the materials would just sit in my inventory. Besides, it seems like you have a more important reason for gathering rare materials.” Xuelian glanced towards Lord Grim’s weapon as Ye Xiu understood.
“I won’t hold back then, thanks.” Ye Xiu didn’t reject, if she said so herself that the materials would just sit in her inventory, the materials would be more useful in the hands of Ye Xiu, and he really did need the materials!
Truthfully, Xuelian wasn’t as nice as others portrayed her to be. As a former pro-player herself, she had already guessed that Ye Xiu was also a pro-player. For some reason, she felt as if Ye Xiu had gone through a similar situation as her, unwilling yet forced to quit. This reason was what made Xuelian want to help Ye Xiu out even more, if she couldn’t go back…perhaps she could live her dreams in someone else. Was it selfish and rude of her?
However, it was just a bold guess. Perhaps he wasn’t a pro-player and she had just over thought it, either way, it didn’t matter.
Realizing that she had lost control of her emotions, she immediately tried to distract herself with something. “In return, tell me about your weapon? I haven’t seen a weapon that could change before!”
This was something she really was curious about. Throughout the 10 years that she had played Glory, it was something that was truly unique! If this weapon were to be placed in the professional scene, the weapon itself would be given a title! How much effort had he placed into creating such a weapon?
“Ah…” Not expecting the request, Ye Xiu suddenly showed a weird expression. It seemed as if he was reminiscing about something that was very painful.
“Sorry…I overstepped my boundaries, just treat it as if I’m talking to myself.” Xuelian scolded herself inwardly. It was a silver weapon, the life and blood of a Glory player, how could it be easily explained to other people? Especially someone who he had just met.
“It’s nothing, actually the story isn’t really special or complicated.” My friend and I made this weapon specifically for Unspecialized players, it’s called the Myriad Manifestations Umbrella. However due to the level 60 update, and the opening of the Heavenly Domain, the Umbrella was rendered useless, thus we gave it up. Later… my friend passed away, only leaving this piece of weapon to me.
For a moment, Xuelian didn’t respond as she just looked at the Myriad Manifestations Umbrella. “Your friend must have been extremely good at the game, to create such a distinctive weapon.”
A genius can do so much, but even a genius falls short of the actuality of a single human life. Such was fate.
“Yeah… he was extremely good. What a pity…” Ye Xiu didn’t finish the sentence as he thought inwardly. “It’s truly a pity. If you were here, perhaps there would be one championship after another.
“Cheer up! Aren’t you here to make his dreams come true? Even if he has passed away, I’m sure he’s watching from above, he hasn’t left you at all! His weapon is his heart, so continue to work hard.” Xuelian flashed him a bright smile before logging out.
It was already 4 past midnight, she had an exam tomorrow so she couldn’t keep playing. Taking out her Glory card, she stood up while patting Ye Xiu on his shoulders.
“Leaving already?” Ye Xiu turned his head to look at Xuelian.
“Yeah, I’m still in University unlike a certain someone! I’m not as lucky as someone who has a bunch of free time on him. Ah right, what’s your phone number? That way we can keep in contact.”
Hearing the question from Xuelian, Ye Xiu couldn’t help but feel embarrassed as he shifted his eyes downwards. “Uh, I don’t have a phone.”
“Ah? No phone…in this day and age?” This… how could someone live without a phone!?
“I have a QQ, we can just exchange our ID’s.” Ye Xiu immediately gave an alternative method, trying to hide his embarrassment while he lightly scratched his nose.
QQ…it wasn’t like Xuelian didn’t have one, Zhifei actually made one for her, must she rarely used it.
“Okay, let’s exchange QQ then. My ID is…”
Once they exchanged contact information, Xuelian gave a few more words of encouragement before looking for Zhifei. “Work hard, that way in the future, I can brag about knowing a pro-player!” It was no longer a surprise to Xuelian that Ye Xiu was aiming to become a pro-player after hearing his story.
Giving off a wave with her right hand, Xuelian made her way to Zhifei deep in thought. “I already thought that my life was pitiful enough, yet there was actually someone who had it worse than me. At the very least, I could still live and continue playing if I wanted to, but for him…”
Suddenly, a strong urge came to Xuelian.
“I want to play again. I really want to play Glory again! But can I…?”
Shaking her head in sorrow, she saw Zhifei out of the corner of her eye. She was actually asleep! No wonder she didn’t read the announcements. Xuelian didn’t know whether or not she was considered lucky.
Quickly making her way to Zhifei, Xuelian gave her a slight nudge calling out her name softly, in an attempt to wake her up. “Zhizhi, quickly wake up. You’re gonna catch a cold.”
“Mmmm? Xuexue?” Zhifei slowly opened her eyes as she looked around her. Ah! She actually fell asleep.
“Hehe, I say, if you were tired, why didn’t you just say so? Come on, let’s go back, we have an exam tomorrow.” Xuelian poked Zhifei’s forehead as she said so.
Glancing at the time, Zhifei couldn’t help but scream out in shock. “Ah! It’s already 4:00AM! Why didn’t you wake me up earlier Xuexue?”
“Tsk, little brat, you have the nerve to blame me? See how I punish you!” Xuelian started to tickle Zhifei thinking inwardly. How could she blame me? She was the one who brought me out to play anyways!
Zhifei broke out in laughter as she immediately apologized. “Hahahaha, I’m sorry, Xuexue stop it, let’s go back.”
“Hmph, I’m in a good mood today, so I will let you off easy.” Xuelian hooked her arm with Zhifei as they said goodbye to Chen Guo before walking back to their dormitory.
