The Red Bride - Chapter 28
Same Day: Early Morning
“Dismiss,” his voice was cold and distant.
Two lines of noble appearance officials bowed their heads, “Thankyou, Your Majesty.”
One by one, the men left through the grand doors of the throne room. Hu Feng sat high on his throne, looking down on his subjects. His aura was still as domineering and aggressive as always. His eagle sharp eyes pinpointed on a particular official in green robes.
His voice was below freezing, “Governor Yan, stay behind.”
Governor Yan paused his step, and cursed his bad luck on the inside. Most of his colleagues glanced at him in pity, while others snickered in derision. He slowly turned around and bowed his head, waiting for the tyrant to speak. The huge red doors slammed shut, and Tang Feng stepped out from the side. The grand Imperial Tutor motioned for the guards to drag in two shabby looking figures.
Confusion swirled in Governor’s Yan eyes, “Your Majesty, what is this?”
The strong guards threw the men to the side of where the governor was standing with a loud thump. His eyes widen into little saucepans as he recognized the two prisoners. The fat man was clearly Xian Bo, his brother-in-law. The wild and muscular man was the local bandit and Xian Bo’s minion. He was very familiar with these two people.
Tang Feng ordered, “Remove their gags.”
Immediately, Xian Bo started begging for his life, “Brother-in-law, save me! I didn’t do anything! It was all Long Yi’s fault. He deceived me!”
Snot and tears ran down his face and onto Governor Yan’s left leg. Xian Bo hugged the leg like it was his life line. Long Yi looked at the fat man with hatred and disgust. He was a fool for allying himself with such an ugly coward. He remained silent and accepted his fate. Governor Yan kicked the fat man away from his leg, feeling humiliated by the disgusting sight.
“Your Majesty, I don’t understand. Whatever Xian Bo has done, has nothing to do with me.”
“Yo-You bastard! After everything my sister and I have ever done for you,” Xian Bo screeched then banged his head on the smooth marble floor, “Your Majesty, I was wronged before! I was deceived by Long Yi! If Your Majesty can spare my life, I will tell-”
Governor Yan kicked the fat man in his abdomen. He kneeled on the floor and banged his head on the floor, “Your Majesty, I’ve been wrong!”
I still can’t get a synopsis together… :/ A short chapter will lead to bigger and better events.
