The Red Bride - Chapter 30
The Yan Manor
“Stop! Stop! You’re hurting me!”
Several screams came from the large family hall. The once beautifully decorated room suddenly became the stuff of nightmares. Broken pieces of wood laid on the floor, porcelain and glass scattered like fallen leaves, and small puddles of blood sent shivers down the spine. In the middle of it all was a man, who was holding a chair leg, and a woman, who was beaten half to death.
“You cheap slut! This is all your fault! If that idiot brother of yours never got caught then would we be in this situation?!”
Her eyes were swollen shut, but she can still see that shadowy figure standing above hers. More than physical pain, she felt as though someone carved out her heart and stomped on it infront of her. This man that she spent years with is now a demon that haunted her. A hurricane of emotions raged on her barely conscious mind.
Her voice was full of hate, “Yan Huan! Did you forget? My brother and I spent years of effort to get you that governor hat! Without me the Yan family would be nothing! Just wait till my Imperial Aunt, the Empress Dowager hears about this!”
The threat woke up the dormant matriarch of the Yan family, Yan Huan’s mother. She did not stop her son from beating his wife because she felt that this daughter in-law deserved it. She really did bought calamity upon the Yan family today, however she still had the Empress Dowager behind. Like the people say, before you hit the dog, think about its owner!
“Huan’er! Stop! At this point even if you hit her to death, it will not change anything. We just ask the Empress Dowager for help,” the old woman sighed.
Hearing his mother’s words, Governor Yan galred at the woman below him and threaten, “If you drag the Yan family to hell, I will send you off first!”
He kicked her one last time, and walked away in anger. The rest of the family also moved out, leaving the poor woman on the floor in her own blood.
