The Red Bride - Chapter 40
Yu Chun waved her small hand, and the ensemble started to play a charming and somewhat seductive tune. Her waist bended with great flexibility and her hair framed her small face like a silky curtain. The audience looked on with great interest, and most of the men grew lustful for this foreign princess. However, Yu Yue had no interest in her dance at all. The movements and music were much too inappropriate for such an occasion. It was a dance that was best suited for a brothel.
Mu Qing was extremely bored. This type of “I’m better than you” show was too immature and mediocre for her taste. The only reason she showed up today was for the food. Oh right, she also had to get the something-something precious treasures from the old hag. The next time she has to do something as boring as this, she’ll make sure that block of ice accompany her. There’s no reason for her to suffer by herself.
The last note ended and the applause started. Yu Chun glanced expectantly at Yu Yue with an arrogant smirked. Yu Xi looked at his sister with quiet amusement, and swirled his cup of wine. His eyes couldn’t help but follow that lovely figure. The more he looked at her the more entertained he became. That little empress was quite the looker, not to mention her naturally noble disposition. He will just patiently wait for the climax of this show.
“Beautiful! Aja has never seen such a dance before. Chun’er is truly innovative,” the Empress Dowager clapped her hands.
Yu Chun courtesy and said, “Thanking your Highness. Yu Chun is still learning.”
The old woman replied sweetly, “Chun’er is already so wonderful! Aja can hardly count the fingers on her hand of the people who can dance better than you.”
The princess looked slyly at the indifferent Mu Qing on the side before saying, “Actually, Senior Brother said that the empress was a great dancer. May Yu Chun request to learn from the Empress.”
The crowd took a silent breath in. This spoiled princess was much too daring for requesting such a thing. How could she ask the host to perform for her, however Yu Chun was the Junior Sister of the Emperor. The battle between the wife and the childhood friend, who would win?
Mu Qing finally looked at the clown in front of her, “Princess Yu is clearly very talented already. Please take it as a jest from the Emperor.”
Still, Yu Chun was persistent, “Empress please give this lowly one some pointers.”
The old hag could not wait to put in her two cents as well, “Qing’er, since Chun’er is so persistence and truly want to learn from you, why don’t you give her some advice.”
The inside of Mu Qing was mildly irritated, compared to her peaceful exterior. These people were really birds of the same flock. Arrogant, spoiled, and selfish. She really hated this type of schemes, so basic. No originality whatsoever.
She laughed off handedly, “This Empress really is not as talented as the Princess. His Highness must have been joking. After all, the only time we spent with each other was in bed. I don’t remember dancing for His Highness at all, especially when we were so occupied.”
Yu Xi almost spat out the wine in his mouth. This woman….She was truly not like any other woman he had seen before. The unmarried girls in the crowds blushed hard, while the boys had some sort of great insight. The Empress Dowager glared at little devil beside her. How audacious of her! However, this mean that this little brat was harder to touch than before. Hu Feng actually favored her. Yu Yue laughed silently at Mu Qing’s antics. Only she knows how much Mu Qing tolerated the cold Emperor.
The most amusing of the reactions was Yu Chun. Her face turned red to green in a matter of seconds. The image of the two tangled in bed haunted her mind. How could her Senior Brother touched such an undeserving woman. Her Senior Brother was as clean as jade, and was only waiting for her to blossom into a woman. This bitch was clearly lying to her.
Yu Chun glared at the unaffected Mu Qing, who was calmly eating a pastry. She opened her mouth once more. Before the words even formed in her mouth a swoosh of an arrow shot past her ear, making a tiny cut on her face. It landed with a thunk into a tree.
“PROTECT THE EMPRESS!”
