The Rise Of A Legend - Chapter 40 Isiahs Probleme
Walker and his friends went to a nearby store to buy energy drinks to refresh themselves after the game.
Walker entered the store with Z and Isiah then they separated to look for what they wanted to buy.
While Walker strolled around the store. When Walker saw the energy drink that he was looking for he stretched his hand to grab the drink he heard a voice in his head.
[You need not buy any energy drinks you aren’t that tired yet to use them it will only harm you] the system said
“Why not every athlete uses them after feeling tired in games, so what’s the difference?” Walker asked.
[Did you think they use energy drink after every practice? If your answer is yes, then you are wrong because of the side effect of those drinks most athletes try not to use them regularly until they reach a level of exhaustion.] said the system.
“okay that was my fault here I thought it was normal to drink those energy drinks after games, then what should I buy then do you have any advice for me?” said Walker.
[You should buy from here is a bottle of water. it’s the only thing healthy here.] the system said.
“Why only water there a lot of things that could help me rejuvenate my energy,” said Walker with a baffled expression on his face.
[If you want to make it to NBA and build your legacy. you need to keep your body in check. if your body fell apart, and can’t keep up with you. you will not reach the goals you put for yourself since your body would have already given up on you.] said the system
Walker found it shocking that he could ruin his body if he was careless. since he has a long way before achieving his goals. He must not let his body give up on him.
“Do you have any advice to help me keep my body in check?” Walker asked.
[You just need to drink water to keep yourself hydrated and do stretching exercises after intense matches, and training session.] said the system
“That’s all?” asked Walker
[Yeah, you are already in a good shape since you followed the training schedule that I gave you] said the system.
“You scared me. I thought my body wasn’t in good condition,” said Walker.
[You asked for more clarification when I told to buy water only] said the system.
“Okay, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have asked such a stupid question,” said Walker.
[No, it okay to ask if you don’t understand. I would have talked to you about how to take care of your body afterward.] said the system.
The system response didn’t baffle Walker when he heard it since he used to the system way of communication.
Walker took a bottle of water and went to the cashier to pay for it. When he reached, he found Z and Isiah already bought some energy bars and soda.
Walker shook his head because they just wanted to enjoy themselves. he did not deny that he would have done the same. If it wasn’t for the system’s warning.
Z and Isiah saw that Walker only bought a bottle of water. Walker looked at them and saw their confused expression.
“Guys, why are you looking at me like that?” asked Walker.
“Walker, if you are broke we will lend you money why didn’t you say nothing,” said Z.
“Here drink this I bought two of them you could have one,” said Isiah then he gave one of his energy drinks to Walker
Walker saw the drink in his hand and knew that they were genuine in their concerns a smile showed on his face.
Z saw that smile and shivered then he spoke: “Hey, your smile is creeping me. I’m straight I don’t swing that way.”
Walker and Isiah burst out laughing when they saw Z’s facial expressions.
Walker gave back the energy drink to Isiah then he said: “guys don’t worry am not broke yet, I just don’t want to buy them it’s too much sugar for my body.”
“Didn’t you get tired after the match?” asked Isiah
“I got tired too, but I didn’t reach my limit yet so water will do for now,” said Walker.
“I should work on my stamina because I’m dead tired after the game,” said Isiah.
“I run about 20 miles in the morning. You could join me,” said Walker.
“You ran 20 miles before coming here,” said Z with amazement written on his face.
“Yeah, I wake up at five in the morning and to complete the 20-mile run, I need 2.5 hours,” said Walker.
“Five in the morning are you nuts. I’m barely able to wake up at 8 in the morning to be here at 9 AM,” Z said.
“It’s quite hard to do but if you want to be an NBA player. you need to work hard for it and waking up early is the easiest part of it,” Walker said.
“You are right. I want to go to the NBA too with all the spotlights on your surely,” said Z. While daydreaming about how famous he would be if he became an NBA player.
for visiting.
Walker saw Z daydream then he asked him: “So Do you want to join me or not. ”
“Sure,” said Z.
“How about you Isiah,” said Walker.
“I will join you in your routine too,” said Isiah but deep down Isiah though.
“My dream. I don’t know when was the last I did something I preferred to do before playing basketball with Walker and Z. Everything in my life is decided by my family. which college I will join. what degree I’m supposed to get. I hate this feeling. I’m envious of both of them at least they have their own dream to chase what about me. I feel like my parents are living their dreams through me. I need my freedom, but do I want basketball as a dream to chase or it’s just a hobby.”
Walker saw that Isiah is deep in his thought. He knew that he was facing a dilemma of his own and he needed to find a solution to it himself.
Walker drank his bottle of water while they were sitting on a bench close to the court where the games were still playing.
“Let’s go see who will be our opponent for the semi-finals and watch the game played right now one of these teams will be our opponent in the finale,” said Walker
“Okay, let’s go see who powerful the other team in the tournament I didn’t get to see them play,” said Z
“I think I will pass guys. I’m attending a class in a cram school, so I need to go sorry,” said Isiah.
“No worries, it’s not a big problem,” said Walker.
“Wow, so you prepare for the SAT this early good luck, and don’t worry we will scout the other teams well,” said Z.
“Yeah, it’s hard nowadays to get into a good college without good grades. unless you are in a sports program,” said Isiah
After Isiah left Z looked towards walker and said: “Isiah doesn’t look good did anything bad happen. how could we help him with?”
“It’s his problem we wouldn’t be of any help he needs to solve it himself, so we better for us not interfere, “said Walker.
“Yes, you are right if he needs advice he would have already asked us,” said Z.
Z and Walker went to scout the teams they could face in the finals and saw the monsters they will need to beat to win the tournament.
//Author’s Note ( I put it here because it’s more than 500 words)

I tried to improve the characters of both Z and Isiah I don’t know if it was any good.
