The RISE Of NATHALIA CARTER - Chapter 848
“Yeah.”
Drake supported Angelo up and let go of her.
Angelo was surprised, wondering if she had heard it wrong. She didn’t expect it to be Palmer.
“Where’s he? The place Zoey was at?” She had guessed it but wasn’t quite sure.
Drake nodded, “You stay at home. I’ll go over there.”
But Angelo subconsciously grabbed his sleeve and looked quite nervous.
“Take me with you, brother.”
Angelo didn’t look at Drake. She had to see Parker. If he revealed her secret when she wasn’t there, all her work was in vain.
Drake stared at Angelo for a while and finally agreed.
They left together and headed to the place of Zoey.
In a suburb to the north of the city, where few people live, Mr. Li had a house. Even Angelo didn’t know it.
When she got out of the car, the police had surrounded the house, and Parker happened to be escorted out of the house in handcuffs.
When he walked past her, he viciously stared at her like a lunatic, wanting to say something but failed.
Seeing him being taken to the car, Angelo’s intense nerve finally lightened. At least, he didn’t say anything now.
The cars left one by one, a familiar voice suddenly sounded, “Why are you here, Angelo?”
Angelo turned her head back and saw Palmer.
“I come to see Zoey. Where’s she?”
“She’s fine.” With that, he looked back and raised her chin, “There.”
Following his eyes, Angelo saw Zoey standing at the door of the house. Her hair was in a mess, but she looked quite strong, not like a girl who just suffered kidnapping.
“You bitch! I take you as my friend. But you kidnapped me with your father. Do you have a heart or not?”
Near her, Ivy was sitting on the ground and covering her face with one hand like she was slapped in the face.
Angelo stayed and then was relieved. She didn’t expect Zoey to be so strong. She suffered a kidnapping just now, but she didn’t look scared at all.
“I’m sorry. I was forced.”
Angelo happened to hear that when she got near them. She frowned.
Being forced?!
Would Parker kill her if she didn’t ask Zoey out?
“Being forced?” Zoey sneered. Obviously, she thought the same as Angelo. “You did it with your dad. And you didn’t even hesitate when you hung up my phone. Now you pretend to be wronged!?”
“No, no, no… It’s not like that,” Ivy looked aggrieved, trying to clear herself.
After the recording, the police took Ivy away with them. Although she insisted that she was forced to ask Zoey out, it remained to be investigated.
Finally, the kidnapping ended.
When Zoey saw Drake, her strong momentum suddenly lessened. Now she was the little sister who needed the protection of her brother.
Angelo smiled helplessly. She sighed that life was like a drama when she saw the aggrieved look of Zoey.
When they were about to go back, Palmer stopped Angelo and said that he wanted to ask her about something.
Angelo was confused but still followed him away.
“What’s the matter,” she asked.
But Palmer just stared at her for a while and said nothing.
Angelo glanced in the direction of the car and was worried that Drake might be impatient. So, she urged him, “Just say it. Zoey was frightened just now. We have to send her back now.”
Palmer looked at the car and saw Zoey playing with her phone near the window, she didn’t look like a frightened girl at all.
“When I went to save Zoey, I heard Parker say that Angeline had died long before. Angeline… your sister?”
Angelo was shocked by Palmer’s words. There was a blank in her mind.
Parker indeed found something.
It was just that what he knew was a little different from the truth.
The one who died was not the girl but the boy. That was why Angelo’s grandpa asked her to disguise herself as a boy.
“How’s that possible?”
Angelo pretended not to care about it. “My sister is living well now. She won an award some time ago. Did they give the award to a ghost?”
“Your sister is an actress?” asked Palmer again.
“It’s time to go.” Drake suddenly appeared from nowhere.
Angelo was startled and then wanted to leave with him. Her heart might jump out if she continued her talk with Palmer.
Just as she turned to leave, Palmer suddenly said, “I knew he was talking nonsense. So, I ruined his throat. Don’t worry, Angelo. He can’t talk nonsense anymore.”
Angelo paused and thought of Parker’s look when he walked past her. It turned out that he didn’t speak, not because he didn’t want to but he couldn’t.
Angelo slowly turned to look at Palmer. There was still a smile on his face, making him look cynical.
She hurried to the car as if fleeing. Somehow, she felt that Palmer doubted her because of Parker’s words, or he wouldn’t have ruined Parker’s throat.
Outside, Drake was talking with Palmer. Angelo clenched her hand tightly, wondering if Palmer would tell Drake about it.
With their relationship, they might talk about anything.
After a while, Palmer went away, and Drake got in the car.
Until they got home, Drake hadn’t said a word.
Angelo was still nervous but then heard Corrine say that Angeline just called to ask about Angelo.
“Angeline?” Angelo looked at Corrine in surprise when Drake happened to be there.
“She learned about the incident from the Watts family. She was worried about you but couldn’t reach you. That’s why she called here. I told her that you are all right. You’d better call her back later.”
“All right.” Angelo nodded confusedly. She took out her phone and found that it was powered off.
She didn’t know who this “Angeline” was, but she was kind of glad because Corrine’s words could help her in some way.
Even if Palmer told Drake the “secret,” Drake might not believe it now.
“My phone is off. I’ve to charge it, grandma.” With that, Angelo went upstairs.
Downstairs, Zoey was looking at her back quietly.
