The RISE Of NATHALIA CARTER - Chapter 853
She thought it was just a meal but neglected to mention that Clarence, as the most famous director in showbiz, was always photographed by the paparazzi.
When she realized something, she was already held by Clarence with his arms.
Here was the thing. When they reached the restaurant, a man ran out with a knife as if he was about to kill.
Clarence noticed the man and saw him coming to Angelo, so he just pulled Angelo to his arms and tried to cover her with his body.
Angelo wanted to tell him that she had practiced karate and could handle such an incident, but Clarence held her so tight that she couldn’t even speak.
Soon, people gathered here. But the madman with a knife didn’t have more moves but dropped the knife and ran away.
Angelo then realized that there was something wrong. She got out of Clarence’s arms and looked around. Then she saw a man holding a camera get into a black car. Soon, the car rushed away.
Angelo had a foreboding when she thought of how Clarence held her just now.
“We’re photographed!”
But Clarence didn’t seem to care about it. “Don’t worry. We’re men. I’ll defend you even if there are rumors about us.”
His words relieved Angelo a bit, but she was still kind of worried. Besides, Clarence protected her without hesitation, but she just felt not right.
“Shall we go to dinner now?” asked Angelo hesitantly. The incident happened so suddenly that Angelo was worried although she could protect herself.
“Of course. How about we go somewhere else?”
Angelo had never come here before. She was famous in her previous life and had made a lot of money. But most of her money went to the Watts family. So, the few pocket money couldn’t afford such luxury places.
It was the first time she came here. She had been curious about it the whole way.
“Haven’t you been here before?” asked Clarence.
“No.” Angelo shook her head honestly. Neither Angelo nor Angela had money to consume here, let alone that they only received their members.
“That’s weird. Drake used to come here a lot. Why didn’t he bring you here?” Clarence seemed to mean something else.
But Angelo didn’t want to hear things about Drake, so she gave an unhappy face. “Mr. Wilson, this meal is indeed scary. You’d better say it now. You know, something may happen again.”
While she was talking, the waiter served their dishes on the table.
Clarence wasn’t in a hurry to say it. “Let’s eat first. I promise you things like that won’t happen again,” he said calmly.
Since Clarence said that, Angelo could only eat first.
Clarence then got up and apologetically said, “Excuse me, Mr. Angelo. I need to deal with something now. Can you wait for me here for a while?”
Clarence looked quite worried. Angelo didn’t want to give difficulties to others, so she nodded, “Yeah. Just go.”
“All right. There are plenty of amus.e.m.e.nts upstairs. You can have fun there if you are bored. I’ll go to you.”
After that, he left.
Angelo didn’t intend to play the amus.e.m.e.nts. She waited there for a long time, but Clarence didn’t come back.
She then understood why Clarence asked her to have fun herself. He might have foreseen that he couldn’t come back in a short time.
Angelo felt bored in the room. She thought about it and finally decided to go out. Leisurely, she walked upstairs. Along the way, she looked around to kill time.
Later, she came to a room. It looked special because the door was unique.
“I’m sorry, sir. It’s closed to the public,” a waiter came to warn her.
The man held a long gun in his hand, pointing at the target in a standing posture. Then he buckled the trigger with his index finger, and the bullet shot out instantly.
There was a black ring on his index finger. Angelo had never seen him wear it before. Then she looked at his neck. The thick gauze covered the wound. But now, she saw blood wetting it.
“McCoy!”
Angelo walked over and pushed the door open. She acted so quickly that the waiter couldn’t stop her in time.
In the shooting practice room, McCoy put down the gun when he heard the door’s noise. Then he turned around slowly.
“Oh, Angelo. What a coincidence! I didn’t expect to meet you here,” he said, sounding relaxed. Then he waved his hand to the waiter, who withdrew back and closed the door.
Angelo stared at the gauze on his neck. There was indeed blood on them.
“Your wound reopened,” she warned him. But McCoy didn’t seem to care about it. He reached for the gauze. Then the blood got on his hand.
“Yeah. I didn’t feel it.”
He wiped the blood off his hand with the tissue but didn’t seem to care about the wound.
“Are you crazy?!” shouted Angelo angrily. She had thought McCoy had changed, but now she realized that he still didn’t care about himself.
As a child, McCoy didn’t mind his injuries, as if he just wanted to die.
“No,” replied McCoy calmly. Angelo didn’t bother to argue with him. She opened the door and asked the waiter to get some gauze and iodine.
Then she walked to McCoy and ordered, “Sit down.”
Hearing that, McCoy reflexively sat on the couch. When he recovered, he looked in surprise at Angelo, who was unpacking the blood-soaked gauze from his neck.
When the gauze was down, Angelo found that his wound had worsened.
She frowned and was about to say something when McCoy grabbed her wrist. She looked at him and found him staring at her.
She heard him uttered, “Angela.”
Angelo stayed there and looked at McCoy in shock, she couldn’t even breathe.
