The RISE Of NATHALIA CARTER - Chapter 893
Dressed in a black trench coat and high heels, Christina elegantly came over. She ignored Angeline and Daisy but directly said to the shop clerk, “I’ll take them. Pack them for me.”
The clerk looked embarrassed. After all, Angeline was about to buy this pair of cufflinks. Seeing the clerk remaining still, Christina bore her face straight. “What? Didn’t you hear me?”
Hearing that, Angeline wanted to laugh. She walked to Christina, took off her sunglasses, and coldly looked at her, “First come, first served. I saw them first, and I said to buy them first, Miss.”
Christina wasn’t happy, “Excuse me, I didn’t see you pay when I came in. Since you didn’t pay, they’re not yours.”
Angeline was almost amused by Christina’s hilarious logic. She wasn’t a stingy person. If it was something else, she didn’t mind giving them to Christina. But she had already decided to take this pair of cufflinks as the present for Drake. She had to get them.
She didn’t bother to argue with Christina but looked at the clerk. “Please pack them up for me. Thank you.”
They were at a stalemate. No one would give in. Suddenly, Christina chuckled and looked at Angeline with some sympathy in her eyes. She approached her and said in a low voice, “You think Drake will treat you differently if you send him this pair of cufflinks, do you? What a naïve girl. You wish! You will never make it because… Hahaha!”
Angeline felt uneasy. She didn’t know what Christina meant. So she wondered if Christina got something on her. She stayed for a while. When she recovered, Christina had already gone.
Daisy poked Angeline, “What did she say? She looked weird.”
Angeline bit her lips. “I don’t know what she meant, and she didn’t finish it.”
She thought for a while before giving up. Then she asked the clerk to wrap the cufflinks for her.
Because of Christina, Angeline had no mood to continue shopping. She said goodbye to Daisy and then went back.
Drake hadn’t come back yet. Angeline placed the present well. There was some time, so she started to decorate the room. She had bought various ornaments. Busy with the decoration, she forgot about Christina’s threat.
Later, it was dark. Angeline turned on the light and doing the last work.
Ten minutes later, she stood up to appreciate her work.
Just then, the noise of the car coming. Angeline turned off the light and hid away. Later, a familiar voice sounded. But when Drake saw the black room, he hesitated for a second before entering the living room.
“One, two, three!” Angeline counted in mind. “Surprise!” she shouted, popping up from a corner to Drake.
Drake knew what was going on when he heard her voice. Steadily, he held the girl in his arms. Then he turned to turn on the light but stopped by Angeline. “Wait, wait. Don’t.”
Angeline got down from Drake and ran to the refrigerator. For a second, she turned to come.
With a cake, she walked to Drake. “Come on. Make a wish!” she urged him.
Drake patted Angeline’s head, “Wish? You know I’m not a little kid.”
Angeline pursed her lips, “You can make a wish no matter how old you are. Just do it.”
Drake couldn’t do anything about it but said, “Then I wish you can be with me on the rest of my birthdays, all right?”
Angeline blushed and mumbled, “You shouldn’t say it out.”
When Drake puffed off the candles, she turned on the light.
The room was full of light. Drake paused when he glanced around. There were pictures of Santa on the window, so colorful! Also, various balloons were full in the room.
“Well… this is a present for you. Happy birthday, Drake!” Angeline handed a little gift box to Drake. He stood still for a second before taking it over with tenderness full of his eyes.
The atmosphere was so good when Angeline’s phone suddenly rang. She trembled and then reached for the phone, but she didn’t notice the change of Drake’s expression.
The call was from Daisy. Angeline was confused. Daisy should be having dinner with Darren at this time. Why did she call her?
“Hello, my agent. Shouldn’t you…”
“Oh, my goodness! Did you see the news? Come on. Check your Twitter. Oh, gosh! I…” Daisy sounds so worried and angry. Angeline didn’t understand what she was talking about. But still, she checked her Twitter after hanging off.
Her confusion resolved after seeing the head news on Twitter. Instead, anxiety and panic appeared on her bloodless face.
Drake frowned and grabbed over Angeline’s phone. After a while, his face became sullen. When he saw Angeline’s look, he put the phone aside and faced her face. “Angeline, look at me. Look at me, honey!” He gently said.
Angeline’s eyes moved. Finally, her gaze focused on Drake’s face. Then, tears pulled down. “Sorry, brother. I don’t know what’s going on. I wouldn’t have called you out if I had expected this. If I don’t do that, we won’t be photographed. It’s all my fault.”
Drake gently wiped Angeline’s tears off. He bowed to kiss her forehead. “It’s alright. Believe me. It’ll be fine. I can handle everything. All right? It’s not your fault. What you need to do is to have a good sleep. I promise everything will be fine tomorrow.”
In mind, he seemed to know the person behind it.
He had been guilty of hurting her by accident. But since she hurt the girl he loved, he wouldn’t be merciful.
“Oh, I met Christina when I bought you this present. And she said some weird words. Is it her?” Angeline said uncertainly, but she was almost sure that it was her. Christina’s weird act was a sign of all this.
“Yeah. It should be her.” Drake nodded, confirming her guess.
Angeline looked at him, feeling quite sorry. “But your fame is ruined, isn’t it? How do others look at you?”
After a while, Angeline seemed to make a determination. Word by word, she said, “I want to announce my identity publicly, Drake.”
