The Rise Of Quetzalcoatl - Chapter 131
“So either way, the world as we know it is going to end… right?” Charna asks.
I glanced at her before replying.
“Probably,”
“Do we have to do this then? Either way, there is no good outcome, so we might as well just sit back and relax,” Charna says.
“No. We’re just speeding up what was to come. In just a few years the world was going to be thrown into chaos anyway… We might as well just get it out of the way now,”
“But-”
“Though this is also for our benefit. It’s to keep us alive….” I respond, fully shutting up Charna, who had nothing to say back.
“What about the rest of our family?” Clio asks.
“Well, they’ll have to figure something out,”
“What do you mean figure something out?! You mean we should just let out family die?”
“Well, then what can you do?”
“U-uh…”
She was unable to refute my point… plus, I knew they didn’t really like their family anyway…
“What’s the real reason you want to go to Egypt?” I ask Clio.
“W-what are you talking about?”
“*sigh*… Come on… I’ve been with you long enough to know you and Celestine don’t give two shits about your family… So, what’s the reason you really want to go to Egypt?” I ask once again, this time releasing my bloodlust.
It wasn’t necessary, but I wanted to get this argument out of the way so it wouldn’t trouble us later on.
Call me manipulative… but it’s all for the sake of us.
“Huh?!” Clio responds with her own bloodlust.
Her mask was that of a wolf that looked similar to Anubis, the Egyptian god.
I couldn’t remember what it was previously though, as she changed with the help of her own power… The skill? I don’t know…
“Calm down,” Ethel interrupts us, and as Clio saw no benefit in us fighting, she clicked her tongue before turning away.
“It’s an Ancient Relic,” Celestine says, but before she could explain further, Sophia stood up after finishing her job.
She closed the ŀȧptop and handed it to Clio, who angrily stuffed it in her inventory.
“We can discuss it later,” Celestine says as we jump off the roof of the building and scale our way up the side of the Green Shield guild building.
It was extremely tall, but with the help of Charna’s shadow ability, we could quickly scale it, especially at night.
Tup Tup Tup
We soon arrived at the completely flat roof, which had nothing on it.
“Now, we wait,” I muttered as we jumped out of Charna’s shadow.
…
(Boss POV)
“Boss, I have come to give a report,”
I glanced up from the stack of papers I had to complete before the end of the day and stared at my ȧssistant who sat down on the white stool opposite from me.
She was beautiful.
“Were you able to find anything?”
I saw her bite her lip before continuing.
“No… Sadly we found absolutely nothing?”
“Huh? Just go into their school files and find out their family. It shouldn’t be that hard,” I say confused as to why she was so nervous.
“We did but found out that information was fake,”
“How? Did it not match up with bureau or something?”
“Yes,” She responded, but she shouldn’t have been this nervous.
“So then just dig into the world bureau. Come on, this should be easy to understand,” I complain, but instead of getting up to do just that, she kept profusely sweating while tapping her foot.
“W-we did… But they aren’t in it,”
“Seriously?”
“Yes,”
I sat back in my chair, holding my face as this could only mean one thing… Somebody had the authority to delete their information.
It is impossible that they were never registered as the UAV doesn’t miss anything… So that means we messed with the wrong person.
“Shit,” I mutter, but just as I dismissed her, my other ȧssistant, Dran, bashes through the door.
At least she’s smart. That means she’ll probably be wary of us… further enhancing the idea of her not leaking any information.
“BOSS!” He shouted, and I could tell by his body language that he was nervous.
What now…
“Yes?”
“O-one of t-the classified documents… The information was leaked!”
“WHAT!? WHO WOULD DARE TO- Wait… SHIT! Gather the ȧssassins and have them bring the student I just sent to you. She’s at the newly built university in the middle of the city. GO!” I shout.
“Y-yes, sir,” He replies as I quickly send a picture of Lucy’s id.
SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT
“Dammit… She’s too smart,” I muttered before glancing out the window behind me.
…
(Lucy POV)
We entered Charna’s shadow upon seeing a large group of ȧssassins spread out thin amongst the cyberpunk city.
I still don’t know her evolution, but I know she is perfectly in sync with shadows and the night… which was perfect for infiltrating now.
We were able to slip through the front entrance in an instant and then make our way up the emergency stairs, all the way to the same room as before.
I directed her with our hivemind, so we easily made our way into the room with the boss sitting in his chair, his hands covering his face in shame.
“Yo,” I say as Charna slips out of the night, and we slip out of her shadow.
“H-how did you get in here!” He shouts as we walk towards him, slowly circling him.
I was confident we could beat him, and this man was smart, so I knew he wouldn’t do anything stupid.
“Raise your hands,” I take my first precaution.
He slowly raises his hand.
“Swallow the desk,” I direct Charna, causing her to flick her finger down.
The shadow below the desk swallowed it whole, revealing a buŧŧon right beside the man’s foot, but we didn’t flinch.
“Once I step on this buŧŧon, hundreds of A-rank dungeon runners will come flooding the room. So I wouldn’t do anything stupid… Tolf… That’s right. I know who you guys are,” He says with an evil grin, but we continued to walk forward, our eyes shining a palish color through the tiny holes in the mask.
The tension in the room was so stretched out you’d be able to cut it with a buŧŧer knife… but that tension was only in the man’s eyes as we continued to walk forward.
“D-don’t tell me I didn’t warn you!” He shouts before stomping on the buŧŧon, but nothing happened.
