The Rise Of Quetzalcoatl - Chapter 132
The tension in the room was so stretched out you’d be able to cut it with a buŧŧer knife… but that tension was only in the man’s eyes as we continued to walk forward.
“D-don’t tell me I didn’t warn you!” He shouts before stomping on the buŧŧon, but nothing happens.
Zzzzzp
All the lights and electronics in the building immediately shut off as Sophia had short-circuited the main power supply.
And it seems she went a bit overboard as half the city had a blackout.
“W-what the hell… HELP! HELP! HELP!”
A rock formation began to form around him, but two daggers suddenly penetrated his ċhėst, causing him to cough up blood.
‘Nice job,’ I praise Charna for her work as she appeared as a shadow behind the man whose body went limp.
“That was pretty easy,” Mia mutters but as soon as she says that, a woman walks through the door.
“AHHHHHHHH!” She screamed, seeing her boss’s body dead on the floor.
But before she could leave, Charna slit her throat in an instant.
“Geez, you could’ve spared her,” Celestine says before we hop into Charna’s shadow and make our way back to campus… after picking up Sophia, of course.
…
“Chaos has ensued across the world due to highly classified documents of monster cults and the United Nations funding them,” The news reporter said.
Just as I thought… The reporters aren’t saying that this might be fake information…
“Wow, they actually didn’t try and confirm the information,” Charna says as she was watching next to me on the couch.
We were currently all in the Tolf base as Mia finally set the new transfer point to our campus.
But, Charna was the only one not using this time to train, so she watched the news with me. We even watched a few movies before as the world news was taking so long to report it.
“Of course, they wouldn’t… Isn’t a sure topic much more of a scoop than something that is unsure… They probably don’t even realize how much damage they are doing… That’s how much power the media holds,” I say.
“Hmmmmm… Interesting,” Charna responds before suddenly trailing her finger across the back of my neck.
A shiver was sent down my spine as I said,
“H-hey. What are you doing?”
“Oh my god… You are just so cute,” She says before pulling me in for a hug.
“I have a girlfriend,”
“Don’t worry… I already have a fiance that I love very much back in Korea….” She comforts me.
“When are you going back to Korea, by the way?”
“Don’t know… Maybe after we travel to Egypt,”
That’s right… We were going to Egypt soon and taking a leave from school without notifying my mother.
Clio and Celestine were desperate to get their hands on that artifact for some reason, so we planned a trip next week… and we probably won’t even return to school.
“But we still have to do that annoying ceremony… I can’t believe the Green Shield guild is still hosting it even after one of their guild masters died,” Charna says, and I just nod in agreement.
“Yeah…”
…
A few days had passed, and the celebration was held.
We even had to answer a few questions from the hundreds of reporters and some questions from the thousands of viewers online and in person.
It lasted the entire day, and by the end, we were all exhausted.
“Excuse me, but all of you have been invited to a dinner with some of the executives of the Green Shield guild. They would like to learn more about you,” Somebody suddenly came up to us as soon as we were getting ready to go back to the Tolf base.
“Sure,” I replied as we had no reason to decline… and I would like to see how they’re going to try and recruit us.
Soon, we were taken away in a limousine and brought to a fancy restaurant, where we were then led into a private room.
“Welcome, we are the executives of the Green Shield branch for this city,” A man with pale white skin greets us.
“Thank you for inviting us,” We say, sitting down on the booth like couches surrounding the circular table.
“Recently, my boss has been killed, so we’ve been grieving for quite a while but then you girls came along. So… we’ve been thinking to potentially replace the power we had, you girls could join the Green Shield guild. All of you will be promoted to the highest tier of guild members, and we will support you all in any way possible,” The man says as soon as food was placed on the table.
Oh, steak… I guess I’ll listen to him a bit more.
He continued to go on and on about how great their guild was and how sad they were due to their boss’s death… but it was so obvious what they were trying to do.
Are they seriously trying to guilt-trip S-ranks dungeon runners?
“You all can think about it for a few days and get me back to me on your decision,”
“Nah, we’ve already come to a decision,” Charna speaks up, and she puts out her hand to go for a handshake.
“I’m glad you’ve joined us. Now-”
“Just kidding,” She says before tightening her hand into a knife-hand and piercing straight through the man’s ċhėst.
“W-what-”
“Your boss was quite entertaining. Now, how about you entertain us as well,” She says before reeling out her arm.
The four other men in the room went to try and kill Charna, but Astra, Amanda, myself, and Mia killed them with our respective abilities.
“Don’t want you trying to suppress the chaos,” I muttered.
Charna quickly cleaned everything up by just shifting them into her shadow, and we left with them as well, leaving nothing.
The room was left as if nobody had ever been served.
…
“That was a bit boring. I thought they’d put up a bit more of a fight,” Astra says as she plays against Sophia in some sort of video game.
“Well, the job is done… Now we can start our longtime goal of taking over the underworld… and controlling the world… Am I right?” Mia asks everybody, and we all nod.
“But first, we have to get that artifact before anybody else from my family gets it,” Clio says.
“Yeah… If we get our hands on it, and the stories in our family are true… Me and Celestine might be able to fight alongside you girls,”
“I’ll be looking forward to it,” I say as we continued our gaming tournament.
And… for some strange reason… I was in last place.
“Huh… I thought I was good at this stuff,”
