The Rise Of Quetzalcoatl - Chapter 148
“We have the necklace, plus we’ve come too far… So just suck it up,”
“B-but it’s a god,” Nuala mutters.
Well, it might not be a god, to be honest.
“What’s with that look?” Aria asked me as I just rolled my eyes.
“It might not be a god,”
“What do you mean? Is it Anubis? The god of death or whatever,” Clio says as if it was the most obvious thing ever, but to be honest, I thought against that.
“It may be Anubis, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a god. And before you get on my ass again, I’ll give you a reason… Haven’t we already seen monsters similar to gods?”
“I mean, that woman in the dungeon was an exception,” Ethel says, but I click my tongue.
“Not really. That woman said she was holding back, but she was struggling at the beginning of the fight against me, which was before she adjusted. Wouldn’t a god just immediately overpower you? Like, she said she was trying to scale my power which I think is partially true, but I also think it is an excuse,”
“I still don’t believe i-… Wait, so you’re saying that even if he is a god, his power will be limited because the god’s power is limited in the mortal realm or some shit like that?” Ethel asks and nods back with a smile.
“But that’s not sufficient evidence… That could’ve just been happening because she was in a dungeon… So what if they aren’t? We’re in the real world, not a dungeon, Lucy,” Aria says.
“AHHH! WHATEVER! Let’s just go,” Nuala says.
We all looked at her with awe as she never wanted to do anything.
“Don’t get me wrong… I’m just bored waiting around so let’s go,” Nuala says before lifting up Clio and pushing her in front of her.
“Geez, my back is very delicate, Miss,”
“I don’t care… Now walk!”
“Yes, ma’am,”
And so, we continued our long-ass journey through the pyramid, which took about twelve and a half years… four hours, but it still felt like twelve years to me.
When we were all exhausted and ready to take another break, Clio gestured for us to get against the wall, so we did.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Suddenly, a massive rock came barreling towards us like it was straight out of a movie, but thankfully, small holes appeared behind where we were leaning against, so we quickly shifted in.
I saw Electra smile and was about to smash the rock with her fist, but Ethel quickly pulled her into her chest and made sure she couldn’t do anything stupid.
There must’ve been a reason Clio wanted us to stay in these holes… And I think I knew why.
The rock might trigger something that sets off an alarm that we are infiltrating the place, but as this pyramid is basically a labyrinth, it has ways we can avoid that… as if the boss wants us to come to them.
But just as we were about to leave the slight holes in the wall, Clio shouted,
“STAY IN! AND DON’T PANIC! I PROMISE THIS WILL LEAD TO SOMETHING GOOD!” She shouts, so we all follow her directions.
A stone slab comes across our face and encloses us into the small hole in the wall.
The space was so tight I could barely even lift a finger.
FWOOSH
All of a sudden, I felt a weightless feeling, and I began to drop somewhere at what seemed to be a million miles per hour.
The sound of stone scratching against stone caused my ears to feel like they were bleeding, but after resisting it for only a few more seconds, everything stopped.
The stone slab then un-slid from in front of me, and I was back in a long stone hallway which I immediately entered.
Nobody else was here beside me, so I continued down after activating [Stolen Tundra Crown].
The walls began to line with frost, and the farther I went down, the closer I felt something resonate with me…
But, it wasn’t related to fire… or water… or ice… it was death.
Green flames began to spark from my skin, and my white hair all of a sudden blew back into a wave of green flames.
“What the hell,” I muttered as it felt as if my control over death had increased.
The farther I walked down the hall, the more flames began to coat my skin, and eventually, even my crown began to melt.
Tup Tup Tup
“Bird… Why are you here?” A voice suddenly resonates through the hallway.
It was deep. Very deep. And I could even hear a growl behind each breath.
“Who are you?” I ask.
And silence.
Suddenly, the walls began to close in, so I tried to run farther down the hall, but it looked to be infinite.
So, I stood my ground and tried to hold open the wall, thinking it would do something…
SNAP
But my left arm snapped in half, my right shoulder and right arm following after.
I screamed in pain as the wall crushed me from both sides.
My ice wouldn’t activate due to the green flames coating me, so I couldn’t even crumble the wall.
My limbs continued to snap, and the pain made me blackout.
…
“*gasp*… HUFF HUFF HUFF…”
I looked up and scanned the area but noticed a terrible smell, like a rotting corpse right next to me.
So, I glanced at the muddy ground below me and saw the decaying body of what looked to be a human.
“Lucy!” I suddenly heard somebody cry out to me and when I turned around, I saw Mia and the other girls running towards me.
“M-Mia,” I muttered as I stood up and hugged her tightly.
I was still a bit shocked by what had just happened… As I literally just died right then and there.
“D-did you girls die as well?” I ask, and Celestine and Clio’s face paled.
“Y-you saw the illusion?”
