The Rise Of Quetzalcoatl - Chapter 165
“Y-yes, ma’am. S-so some of the leaders wanted to build a few clothing factories here… A-And I just wanted to get your permission before I proceed with it,” I said.
“So it’s not a question?”
“Y-yes… I-I guess so,”
“*sigh*… If it’s from the leaders, there is no need to ask me for permission,”
“Really? But I thought since you’re basically the king of this city, I would have to ask permission from you and stuff… is that not right?”
“Of course, you’ll have to ask permission, but just like I said, there is no need if it is from the leaders. Just if I ask, later on, tell me it’s from the leaders… Also, don’t try and use that as an excuse because I know what they want and need,” She responded, and the confidence in her voice made me a bit jealous.
I was jealous of how closely she knew the leaders and how basically none of the other executives knew anything about them.
“Are you jealous?” She suddenly asked and I didn’t even notice my head hanging in disappointment.
“K-Kind of… Can you tell me how you met them?” I asked and her face furled a bit as I realized I was now asking her questions, but after she glanced to the side a bit, she gave in.
She snapped her fingers, causing a guard to come in with a fold-out chair which I immediately sat on, in front of her wooden desk.
“I’ll give you the special treatment tonight so ask me whatever you want,” She said and for some reason, her voice was a bit seductive, as if it was trying to lure me in.
“H-how did you meet them?” I asked once again, nervous by her intent and focused stare which watched my entire body carefully.
Ah… I see why you can’t do much in here… it’s because she’s extremely wary of everything and those eyes are the proof.
“Well, one day there was this poor little girl who had their entire family slaughtered by another large family. That family had essentially taken the entire city under its control and this little girl had nowhere to go besides… nowhere,” She responded, a scent of sadness in the air.
It seems these are bad memories I’m bringing back… maybe I should stop otherwise she’ll get mad at me.
“No, it’s fine” The woman spoke up again, reading my face, once again.
“Okay, then please take your time,” I responded with a warm smile and she flinched a bit before squinting her eyes at me.
Her pupils were like that of a lizard– slim, thin, and creepy.
“This little girl was so desperate she decided to cling onto the help of an organization who was already terrorizing that family which had taken over the city. Under the assumption that they were on my side, I desperately tried to find them… but was unable to, and eventually, I found myself in a part of dungeon runners who were going to storm the family heads mansion,”
She paused a bit before continuing once again, but she also stood up and walked around her desk, grabbing the same picture I had seen before.
“All hope was lost and people tried to pick on me, even when everybody’s lives were at risk… but then they came. When we stormed the mansion they all saved us from extinction… and that included me. They were so strong and I even had the chance of meeting one of them personally…”
Her cold expression turned into a warm smile as she seemingly caressed the picture frame in her hands.
“All these little girls here saved me when I was about their age… and it was hard to believe they were the same age as me as they were so much stronger than anybody around. Eventually, they pitied me so much as at that time I had lost all of my vision, leaving me completely helpless… leaving me wondering, ‘What if I didn’t turn blind? Would they have still cared?’ But do you know what most of them said?” She asked me.
“No, please tell me,”
“They didn’t even know I was blind until Astra told them about me… And that made me break down into tears and even though they teased me like big sisters would… I still loved them very much,” She responded.
Wow… Are the leader’s saints or something? They were able to make this stone-cold woman actually almost break down into tears in front of me.
“May I see that picture for a second?” I asked and just as she wiped the few tears running down her face, she slid it across the desk.
I glanced over the picture which was tattered and burnt on the edges, but the girls on it were still so beautiful and some were even cute.
So… These were the leaders when they were younger… How magnificent. I wish I could take this home and worship it every day.
“*sigh*… Any more questions?” The executive asked me.
“May I know the names of the leaders? I just want to spread their names throughout the entire organization like a gospel,”
And upon saying these words, I could see her face immediately distort into disgust, but quickly shift back as she began to mull over the idea.
This would not only increase our influence across the world, but also the loyalty… Though, this would be basically making Tolf, a cult.
“Did you get the leader’s permission about this?” She asked calmly.
“I did and they said yes… But, they’ll never tell me their names so please share it with me,” I begged as I really wanted the leaders to have everything.
They gave me so much and I want to return it, tenfold.
“They probably don’t want anything to do with the cult or religious side… but I guess I’ll say,” She said.
I intently leaned forward, my notepad already out for taking notes.
“Lucy, Mia, Clio, Celestine, Astra, Nell, Ethel, Nuala, Electra, Amanda, Aria, and Chun-Hei or Charna as we call her,” She explains and my eyes glistened with excitement.
“Thank you very much! Thank you! Thank you! I’ll make sure to repay you tenfold in the future so just ask me whatever you want and I’ll get it for you!”
