- Chapter 1 High School Welcome Ceremony And Greetings
Gazing at the sky I let out a smile of relaxation appreciating the peacefulness.
As I looked at the bright sun I frowned as I knew today would be the last day I would be able to witness its glory.
For today Earth will experience what the fanatics called”baptism” and countless innocents will die tragically.
The Red Moon shall rise and countless monsters will descend upon Earth.
Modern weapons will be rendered useless and humanity will be forced to fight for the very survival of their species for the first time in eons.
Today was also the day that Akane had died.
I looked determinedly at Akane’s back as I made a silent oath.
“If I am unable to save you in this life there is no point in me living either.”
After arriving at school Akane let out a sigh of relief as there was still 2 minutes left.
We quickly head to the auditorium but as we were one of the last ones to arrive a lot of students turned to look at us.
“Hey isn’t that the freshmen representative Saiba Akane.”
“You’re right but who’s the guy next to her he seems kinda plain.”
Miyuki always had sharp hearing since she was young as she turned to glare at the crowd quickly shutting them up.
“It’s fine Miyuki that stuff doesn’t both me and don’t you need to hurry, they’re calling you up,” I said while smiling.
Suprised she discerned that I truly wasn’t bothered by it.
“Hehe Kei’s also grown up hasn’t he.” She said as she patted my head.
In the past, I hated how Miyuki treated me like a child but I truly felt the past me was an idiot for not appreciating this bliss.
I could practically feel the glares Akane’s jealous fans on my back but who was I?
A reincarnator possessing 5 years of experience through the calamity phenomenon.
The jealousy of high schoolers was cute but hardly threatening.
Before I even realized Miyuki finished her speech which was followed by loud applause.
Next, the principal came up to the microphone coughing to clear his throat.
Ritsu Taro, the principal of Seijo Academy and a bastard willing to do anything to save his own skin.
In my past life, he sacrificed countless students to save himself and was one of the main reasons Akane died.
My eyes quickly turned cold while staring at the abomination of fat.
“Hey, you what’s your problem? Why are you staring at the principal with such cold eyes?”
As I glanced to my left I found a girl curiously staring at me.
“None of your business,” I stated coldly.
I had too much on my plate to be bothered to deal with some random curious girl.
“Hmph.”
Angered by my response she turned away ignoring me.
“Hey man, how could you ignore her like that do you know who she is?”
“No,” I responded briefly.
Dumbfounded the guy next to me seemed speechless.
“Bro she’s one of the prettiest girls in our year Sawashiro Miyuki. Ranking 2nd on the entrance exam while possessing looks only 2nd to Saiba Akane,” he whispered.
Smiling I asked, “So what.”
Rendered speechless once again the guy opened and closed his mouth a few times.
“Leave him alone at least he knows to be satisfied dating the prettiest flower in the year.”
Looking in front me I saw a guy sitting in front of us turn backward pushing up his glasses.
“Name’s Gima Shozo nice to meet you.”
“What’s up I’m Uesato Dai.”
Next, they both turned to look at me.
I’d rather not form personal connections with anyone here as I knew most of them were gonna die in the next hour but ignoring them might cause them to pursue the conversation further.
“Murasama Kei.”
Expecting me to follow up with a few more words they looked at me but I continued staying silent.
“Hey is it true that your dating Saiba Akane?”(Sawashiro Miyuki)
Staying silent I continued to ignore her.
“Hey what’s your problem!”(Sawashiro Miyuki)
“Hehe ignore him, “I’m afraid he’ll only respond if the one asking is Saiba Akane.”(Gima Shozo)
“Haha, you’re probably right.”(Uesato Dai)
“Are you saying I’m not as good as Saiba Akane!”(Sawashiro Miyuki)
“Hey! The students over there quiet down!”(Teacher)
After being reprimanded the annoyances finally stopped talking or so I thought.
They continued to whisper talking about random things while sometimes asking me questions about how far I had gone with Akane.
Checking my watch I noticed there were only 5 minutes remaining.
Taking a deep breath I tightened my grip on my bokuto case.
Only I knew, however, within the case was not a bokuto;
“Hey you keep grabbing that but what is it.”(Uesato Dai)
“Idiot, that’s the case for a bokuto.”(Gima Shozo)
“Huh, you practice Kendo, that’s surprising.”(Uesato Dai)
Miyuki also glanced over seemingly curious.
“It’s a surprisingly useful skill to have,” I said.
“How so? It’s not like we’re in danger, there are no wars and even if a war were to start it would be solely decided by modern weapons, not some wooden sword.”(Sawashiro Miyuki)
I could practically hear the sarcasm dripping from her voice but I paid no attention to it.
“It’s time.”
