The Rise Of The Blood Emperor - Chapter 6 An Inspiring Speech
“Sir! How can you ask a student to protect the entire school, no matter how strong he is, he’s still just a child!”(Mura Ayumi)
I’m surprised she can say that after witnessing me in Berserk form I thought.
The other teachers seemed to be having similar thoughts as they glanced at her weirdly.
Suddenly the Principal got on the ground on all fours with his forehead to the ground.
“We have no other choice but to ask for your help!”(Ritsu Taro)
The students also noticed the commotion and looked over with varying reactions.
Even the teachers looked surprised as I complained internally about how crazy this geezer was.
“Principal no matter what Kei is still just 16 years old. Do you have no shame?”(Saiba Akane)
Without responding he continued bowing.
Just as Akane was about to say more I stopped her.
“There is no need for all this, I had already planned on doing my best to protect everyone here to the best of my ability.”
Hearing my response they let out a breath of relief as he got up and bowed thanking me.
Shaking my head I really had to applaud Taro’s performance.
“I need to ask you a few questions though principal, is that fine?”
“Of course, anything.”(Ritsu Taro)
“How many casualties and victims were there?”
Not expecting me to ask so abruptly the teachers froze up gloom appearing in their eyes.
“16 dead…20…mentally unstable.”(Ritsu Taro)
Sighing he put on a rueful expression.
Keep acting I thought inwardly rolling my eyes.
“I see that is very unfortunate.”
I looked around but couldn’t find any corpses.
It seems they had already moved the dead bodies to another location I thought.
“It is likely that the next wave will be even harder than the previous and to survive it is necessary for each student to at least be able to defend themselves for a period of time. Also, the male teachers and the more athletic male students need to assist me in actively exterminating enemies otherwise we will definitely lose.”
Hearing my request seemed to put them in an awkward position as they looked uncomfortable.
“Won’t you be enough alone?” Omura Kisho commented sarcastically.
Annoyed I was about to refute.
“Are you being seriously saying that! You want him to defend against monsters alone while you stand and watch doing nothing! And you call yourself a teacher!”(Saiba Akane)
In response to Akane’s outburst, Omura-sensei’s face turned red as he pointed at her about to argue but he was quickly interrupted by the principal.
As I looked at Omura-sensei I saw him clenching his fists while looking down.
Looks like I should eliminate this hindrance early I though cold inside.
“I have no qualms about the male teachers helping but the other male students. I’m sure most of them have no experience in combat and whether they are prepared to take a life even if it is a monster is another matter.”(Okuyama Senzo)
The other teachers seemed concerned as well but I was waiting for this concern to come up.
Just as the principal was about to say something I interjected.
“I have a plan so please let me handle it.”
Surprised they all looked at me and just as Omura-sensei was about to argue with me the principal stopped him.
“Let’s let Murasama-kun handle this.”(Ritsu Taro)
Even the other teachers seemed satisfied leaving such an issue to me as they were about to say something the principal raised his hand indicating silence.
Confused I started at the principal’s face as I tried to guess his objective.
Ah! I see now he’s assuming that I will fail.
Then after failing, he will solve the issue which will lead to an increase in his prestige and his leadership will remain firm.
My eyes flashed as I knew if I failed here Ritsu Taro will likely be in complete control.
It’s a good plan truly, as expected from him but there’s no one that could possibly calculate that I’m a regressor.
As I received permission I walked up to the podium at the center of the auditorium.
The gazes of everyone landed on me as they curiously gazed at the person that saved them, of course, some weren’t grateful at all.
I could even feel hateful gazes from the victims and their friends while others were simply dismissive and listless as I walked onto the stage leisurely wearing a confident smile.
Grabbing the miraculously still working mic I coughed to clear my throat.
“Students I would like to first start by apologizing for not being able to save everyone and am deeply ashamed by my incompetence.”
“Heh, it seems like the selfish piece of shit realizes that he prioritized his girlfriend costing the purity of 20 girls!”
“What are you girls saying, he is a hero. Alone against a hundred of them he won and the vast majority of us are unharmed!”
Chaos was everywhere as arguing started erupting between students.
On the stage, I could see Akane’s worried eyes as she gazed at me with concern.
Looks like I can’t afford to mess up here I thought relaxed.
“I understand the some of you may be dissatisfied with me but please understand that for the rest of us here to survive we must cooperate.”
“Cooperate? Who gives you the right to decide that? I’m not listening to you just because you’re a killer.”
“Killer? If you ask me you who screamed and ran away instead of saving your girlfriend is much closer to murder, don’t you think so Tatsumi Rentaro?”
Pale, he pointed at me trembling.
“Stop spouting bullshit.”
“It’s true I saw he left Megumi to die and just ran.”
A female student with huge circle glasses pointed at him.
“Bitch what did you say, you’re just jealous that I rejected you!”
Just as he was about to continue he stopped talking as he felt the venomous gazes of the girls and the spiteful gazes of the guys.
Silent he gritted his teeth as he hatefully looked at me.
“I may not be able to save all of you but I promise that if any of you were to need assistance I will do my best to help them without running like a coward!”
Honestly, despite being a veteran survivor of 5 years I had confidence that my sword would pierce any opponent but I hardly had experience with public speaking but I had worked as party leader many times so he knew a few tricks.
“Will you just let the monsters kill us and die! Your life is not yours alone, what about your family outside, your friends, and lovers. Who will save them if you fall here, your fate is solely yours to decide but if you trust me we can win.”
After finishing I stepped back to observe their reactions.
I could hear a lot of murmuring but my speech seemed to have convinced the vast majority of them.
“I believe in you Murasama-kun!”
“You are the hero that saved us!”
“Although, I don’t trust you there’s no choice given the situation.”
“Please lead us out of this hell!”
As I looked over at the principal I saw that he still had an ambivalent smile.
Annoyed I clicked my tongue but it seems Omura-sensei was a lot less composed.
I could practically feel the hate oozing from his eyes as he glared at me.
Why is he even so mad at me I thought confused.
Randomly I looked a bit to the left and saw Mura-sensei’s expression.
I could practically see the stars in her eyes as she gazed at me like I was some messiah.
Goosebumps rising on my arm I recalled a certain rumor I had heard.
“Hey is it true that creep Omura is in love with Mura-sensei
Ah, I see the reason now I thought condescendingly.
I raised my hand awaiting silence.
“Thank you very much, everyone.”
