The Rise Of The Blood Emperor - Chapter 7 The Blood Legacy Starts
“Since I have been allowed leadership I would like to present to you what I believe is the most effective strategy. Within the gymnasium, storage contains various items that can be used in combat. Each male student shall grab something to use and those that specialize in Kendo can grab swords from the Kendo room. Also as a defensive measure, we must blockade the entrance to the gymnasium as a method of safety against monsters. The specific details will be left to the principal and the teachers.”
With those instructions, I bowed leaving the stage.
As I walked towards Akane I could see the shock on her face
“When did you get so good at public speaking.”
I shrugged my shoulders as I responded, “guess I’m just that talented.”
Exasperated she looked at me shaking her head.
“Are you really Kei?”
“Of course I’m Kei who else could I be?”
I gave her a “are you crazy” look.
Before she could refuse, I grabbed her hand walking towards the gymnasiums backstage.
“Sir are we just letting them.”(Omura Kisho)
“Enough! He has accomplished enough to deserve this.”(Tachibana Keiko)
Surprised the teachers stared at Keiko.
She hardly talked and never raised her voice but she yelled on behalf of a student.
“He truly does deserve this, let him rest.”(Mura Ayumi)
I could feel the lingering gazes on my back as we go backstage as I close the door behind us.
My mind and body were both fatigued so I decided to rest.
However, I trusted nobody so to ensure Akane’s safety I strongly insisted that she stayed by my side while I sleep.
“Hey is it really okay for us to hog the room like this? Also what about the preparations” Akane asked worriedly.
I nonchalantly responded, “It’s fine just go to sleep, the principals and the teachers can handle the rest.”
Unconvinced she sighed deciding to listen to me as her own exhaustion seemed to weigh heavily in.
Just as I was about to drift to sleep in my wandering thoughts.
“Kei, are you asleep yet?”
“I’m still awake, what’s up?”
“Is it true that you sacrificed those girls for me?”
As I opened my eyes I stared into her eyes finding guilt, sadness, and a tinge of happiness.
Shaking my head I responded. “That’s technically incorrect, I couldn’t save everyone but in that darkness, I wasn’t able to choose who to save so it was random that those girls fell victim. You were able to stay safe cause you were the furthest back located on the podium.”
Relieved she smiled but I could also see a tinge of disappointment.
My experience through the calamity allowed me to see and understand people’s emotions clearly.
“But if such a situation were to ever arise I would sacrifice everyone here including me if it was to save you.”
“Kei”
She broke into tears as she hugged me tightly sobbing on my shoulder.
“I’m happy Kei but don’t die no matter what, if you die I’ll follow you and kill myself,” she said determinedly.
Shaking my head I patted her head.
“Fine, I’ll make sure to protect you while keeping myself happy.”
She smiled while thrusting her head into my chest giggling.
I shrugged my shoulders exasperated, in my younger days I had always assumed Akane was some perfect deity.
But seeing her like this I felt like she was just a really cute girl.
While embracing each other we quickly fell asleep.
I woke up early in the morning as I had lots to do.
Looking to my left I saw Akane peacefully sleeping as I decided to use “that” now.
I reached my hand into my pocket finding a small blue and white cube.
They each had a tiny button on top with strange runic carvings.
I quickly pressed the box on the blue button as a bright white light shined blinding me and as I recovered my vision a beautiful deep blue elixer appeared in my hand.
The commotion seemed to have woke up Akane but she seemed a bit dazed.
“What just happened.”
“Just some magic stuff,” I responded carelessly.
I drank the potion in one gulp as I could feel tremendous energy throughout my body.
A groan escaped my mouth as a faint trace of blood could be seen on my lips as I quickly crossed my legs and started meditating.
“Kei, what’s wrong,” Akane asked concerned.
Gritting my teeth I exhaled black gas as I opened my eyes.
