The Rogue System - Chapter 57
Aaron glared at the bunch of documents piled up like a literal mountain in front of him.
Lately, the notorious snakehead gang’s activities have been very suspicious. They have been seen snooping around many military barracks and even stealing a whole crate of weapons. and also at Zcorp he lost a lot of things.
Zcorp, the company he owned exclusively produces and supplies heavy machinery and weapons. Their contact is with different countries’ military. till now all of their shipments have reached their destination safely. but lately few of his shipments had been stolen as well.
The main culprit was another water user.
‘what is their motive… who are they going to attack with those weapons? when will they attack…. shit…’
Academy tried to track them down but the gang was too secluded. Till now no one knew of their base.
That level of exclusivity was such a rare thing for a villainous group. Usually, they were in small numbers and only did petty crimes.
But the snakehead gang took things to a whole new level. Their numbers were still unknown.
Their motive was still unknown.
Aaron sighed.
He peered at the villain mug shot photos. He actually looked normal and had a normal life as an accountant before this attack. The fact that he stayed hidden for a long time without exposing his identity was a huge red flag.
‘Someone in a higher position is keeping these people’s identity safe…we have to find out soon or else they could do a lot of damage,’ he massaged his brows.
A small knock on his door, disrupted his thought.
“Yes? I’m busy..”
“Zain, we need to talk,” a super said from the other side.
Sighing he picked up all the documents, stored them in a safe, and walked out.
A group of twenty-something super hero stood out there waiting for him.
“What’s the matter?”
“We need to talk, now,”
He took them over to a conference room. “What is it?”
“You are putting our children’s life in jeopardy,” one man shouted aloud with a deep glare.
Aaron was just confused by this accusation. “The academy has been doing everything in our power to safeguard train and prepare the children for the outside world. I don’t see where your accusation remains true.”
“You put that older super in our children’s class. What do you say about that,” one lady said calmly.
Aaron peered at her. This person was a renounced superhero named Galaia. She was not a stranger to him. She was Ullaya’s wife, the person who guards their gates. “I don’t see any problem in that..”
The others started shooting accusations about Kang.
Aaron almost lost his cool.
“Enough!” Galaia glared at them all. “we do not approve of you adding a dangerous person in our children’s class. Please take actions,”
“Zhu Kang is not a dangerous person. I can vouch for him,” Aaron glanced at them all. The parents were at different stages of acceptance. Some of them outright hated Kang being in that class while some of them needed convincing.
“If you are very doubtful of his identity I can personally…”
“I want to meet him.” Galaia said interrupting him. “Can we?”
Aaron hesitated. Kang was shy around strangers…. “I can’t allow that but I can allow you to view the class training together,”
“Deal,” Galaia stood up flipping her curly black hair behind.
Aaron led them to the training hall. The groups of raging parents followed after him.
The glass was fogged to protect the privacy of the calls but he remotely accessed it and made it transparent for them to view.
Inside, few kids were happily running around and playing in the playground.
“me, me! me next!” a kid shouted.
Aaron glanced at that direction. Kang was hanging on a monkey rod doing pull-ups and a bunch of kids were crawling all over him.
“Agh, who’s tugging at my hair. I don’t want to be prematurely bald,” he exclaimed.
“you are old, so balding is normal,”‘ a young chubby kid mumbled, sitting on his shoulders. He was a spitting image of Galaia but had Ullaya’s eyes.
The kids were going rampant clinging all over him. a little kid even clung to his shirt and put a hand in his mouth.
“Get your hand out my mouth! Hey…did you put sand in? God… you kids are…” Kang patiently removed her hand and spat out the sand.
The kids giggled.
“I’m not a climbing rod. Why do you all keep clinging to me?”
“You’re tall. And you’re convenient,” Galaia’s kid mumbled pulling at Kang’s hair. “giddy up,”
“Gosh.” Kang suddenly got down and pulled down all the kids gently. He hugged them all together and lifted them up. “Bundle of radishes. How dare you all to torture me while I training,”
The kids laughed and giggled in glee. “Uncle Zhu~ more… lift us too.” The rest of the kids ran to him and jumped into his arms.
“aish, heavy radishes how can I carry you all? My arms will snap,”
“You can deal with it,” Galaia’s kid mumbled, patting his head.
Kang snapped at them now and then, but his lips were always raised with a content smile.
Aaron felt his heart pound loudly in his ear. Unconsciously he moved close to the glass begging to reach out to him. the sight of Kang with kids evoked a strong feeling in him.
‘I want a family with him… I want him as my own. Kids.. maybe two kids.. a dog or a cat. I want it all with him….’
“We’ve seen enough.”‘ Galaia said, snapping him out of his reverie.
“ah.. oh.. See I told you, he was not dangerous.” Aaron awkwardly patted his flushed cheeks.
But the other parents were not convinced. They started to fight amongst themselves.
“Enough of your chatter.!” Galaia glared at them. “My kid has a special ability. He can sniff out villain like a bloodhound. If that kid was one my son would have already shouted and screamed. Stop wasting time and go home. The kids are safe…” she glanced back at the class with a bright smile. “And content…”
Only after those words, the parents calmed down a bit.
Aaron silently thanked her.
Galaia just nodded at him. “Take care of my kid. He’s unrefined and rude but has a good heart. I hope one day you can be his mentor,”
Saying so, she left with the others.
Aaron did not move from that spot. He happily looked at Kang who played with the kids.
‘Kang… why do you make my heart flutter so… it’s getting really hard of me to hold back the urge to hug you. To claim you as mine..’
Kang let out a loud laugher laying on the ground. The kids we piling up on him, giggling and laughing.
“Ah who kicked my balls? Seriously! You kids are notorious!” he laughingly pulled the little kids away from between his legs.
Suddenly he felt a gaze on him. he peered at the glass. It was a reflective one.
‘Must be just my mind playing games…’ he shook his head.
A sudden wet feeling snapped him out of his dazed state.
A little kid rubbed his snot in his hand.
“Oh my god! Seriously you munchkins are intolerable,”
“You to uncle Zhu!” Chu Gan happily hugged his neck.
‘well… they’re cute. I’ll forgive them.’ he subtly wiped the snot on another kid’s clothes and just let them cuddle up with him. in just a few minutes, all of them started to snore.
“You’re doing well.” the old man peered down at him.
“Well, these kids are more powerful than me. I only tolerate them because I get to learn a lot from them,”
“Good good,” he squatted down and helped lift each kid off of him. The floor suddenly changed into soft matters. He laid them down.
“At first I thought you would be prejudiced about this new change. Surprisingly, you adapted well. These kids might be young but their parents have taught them how to control their powers from a young age.”
“That’s a privilege I never had. I was an orphan. Heard my parents tossed me away because of some weird legend,”
The old man peered at him with a pitiful smile.
“Don’t pity me. I live a happy and content life with my sibling.. That’s all that matters.”
